Isn't doing a factory reset right after it comes from the factory redundant?
Not sure -- I was shocked as well but he did. It never did that for me when I had it haha. I never did the factory reset though (I did when I helped him set it up to wipe my stuff out).
I can see it if the streaming he does, etc. is with the screen off (which it likely is). The drain with the screen on is pretty significant on this phone, given how slowly it drains when sleeping. Of course, all phone screens are the biggest battery eater, but this one certainly isn't the best at that.
I feel simlarly about the battery drain when using the camera. Just gobbles juice.
So, if the things you do are done without the screen lit, the phone can last a really long time. Again, that's the case with any phone for the most part, but I say this even given that.
Just my sense of things, anyway.
I'm ordering our son a G4 within the week. I'll update the OS if it hasn't already been, and then do a FDR before I switch it over for him.
For my own part, the FDR I did a couple of weeks ago hasn't really seemed to make any noticable difference. I didn't have any grand problems, but it's not any snappier, any better battery life, etc.
This is what pisses me off about Android or at least this G4. There is SOME variable causing people to have issues while others don't. Why is it so friggin hard to figure this **** out? I personally feel once these things start selling most support is lost and focus shifts to the next device. Fixing existing devices doesn't generate revenue and we are so used to accepting those dumb terms "janky" and "wonky" that it's just become acceptable. Frankly when I'm listening to the podcast and someone says janky I feel my blood pressure go up. Janky is unacceptable in 2015 for these devices.
