I have a Nexus 4, you have questions. Fire away.

What seems to be the general concensus regarding the rattle on the nexus 4? I got it today but it doesn't hinder the phone's functions in any way. Apparently it's got to do with the camera but I can still focus as usual.
this is totally normal. Not a defect.

Hi I just came from an iPhone 5 with a grandfathered unlimited plan/4GLTE; I am now using a nexus 4. So the problem is that after inserting my sim card from my iPhone to the nexus 4 I cant use any internet. ( i already have the micro sim adapter and fits in well with the nexus) Do you know if the network settings have to be changed, and if so would you know how to? Or perhaps if you can reference me to any video or thread on this top that would be great because I'm struggling to find someone in my situation on online threads.

ATT I'm assuming? Make sure your APN settings are correct. There's a few threads floating around here with settings that work.

i keep reading about swiftkey 3...whats the difference between that and what my nexus 4 already does? doesn't it already do something similar with the whole just moving your finger from letter to letter?

Swiftkey is slightly different in that it allows to type full sentences without lifting your finger. That's just one of the features that Google's version of Swype does not have. But yes. They are very similar.

OK I took the big step and ordered an N4 this evening. I've been on a Verizon GN since last August and though I generally like it and fell in love with Android using it, I've since got an N7 for Christmas and really like the plain Jelly Bean experience without having to mess with custom ROMs. I'm running CM10.1 on the GN. So decided I'm dropping Verizon who I've been on for 6-7 years and who has decidedly the best service in my area to try out the world of an unlocked Nexus phone and explore the prepaid service market. I've been reading up on the different services so I know where to go but to maybe help me decide what service to go with I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and see if anyone would see this posting who might wild chance live in my area and is using other than verizon and might suggest the best overall service? I live just outside Athens, Georgia about 45 minutes east of the Atlanta area. I'm exited about getting this N4 I just hope I'm not making a big mistake switching off of Verizon. Their business practices I don't like, but you can hardly argue about their service coverage.

I was able to successfully activate(port from Verizon) my Nexus 4 with Straight Talk ATT today morning. After the activation, I did a speed test. I got 1186 kbps upload and 216 kbps download speed (in Columbus IN, zip code: 47201). According to att website, this zip code has 4G coverage (not 4G LTE) but the speeds I am seeing are probably not even close to 3G. I was wondering if I setup something wrong? My APN settings are given below. I would be surprised if this is the max speed att has in this town.

Along with this, my data connection sometimes (esp. at home) goes off for no apparent reason.

Do you have any suggestions to improve the speeds? Is it just the area or am I doing something wrong?

APN Settings

Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Not Set
Port: 80
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com (removed HTTP - new users not allowed to post links)
MMS proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410

Rest are not filled with any values.

I have the same values, and I can't receive MMS, and the data is slow, same issues.

Edit: found some settings that work. I have yet to see what the speeds are like, by I can send/receive MMS now. Someone gave a link on the second/third page to wirevalley.com that had good APN settings.

I've had my Nexus 4 about 3 weeks and twice I've noticed the phone app keeps my device awake for hours. I'll notice the usage in battery stats, and it does suck up battery when it's just running there. A simple reboot fixes it, but I'm wondering now if it isn't Google Voice, which I use to make all calls? I made one call yesterday for 5 min and the phone app kept the device awake for 4 hours.

I wouldn't think anything of it but it's happened a couple times now and I'm completely stock. The reason I'm thinking Google Voice is because when I checked my call logs it didn't show the person I called but the number it uses to connect the call as the person I called.

On my SII running CM10 I had it happen many times, but I chalked that up to running a custom rom. Now I wonder if it's GV or a bug in stock Android. Anyone else else notice this running Google Voice?

I'm just so surprised to see it happen on my brand new Nexus 4.

Long press on the app and drag them around the screen you where you want them. To put them in folders, hover an app over another them drop it into the folder.

okey but when u do it, it changes to the home screen and not on the drawer apps, my idea was to re-arrange them there.

just got my Nexus 4 and cannot find how to allocate individual ring tones, can anybody cast some light on this problem.

Go into the settings of the app that you want to have a specific ringtone for and there should be an option for changing it.

I have two questions: First, is it possible to get apps to pulse the notification light on their own, without installing a third-party app? WhatsApp does this for new messages but a lot of others don't.

Second, and more importantly, I've assigned contact X a new ringtone. Is there a way to get it to ring *only* when a call from X comes in? Because currently, whether I get a text message or a WhatsApp message or a Skype call from that contact, the same (custom) ringtone blares. I don't want Justin Beiber blaring out for ALL notifications from that contact!

(just kidding, it will be a cold day in hell before I have that music on my phone...)

Guys, this might be a silly question, but how do I set my phone to vibrate on notifications? As you can see here, there isn't an obvious option to do so. I'm replying to my texts late because I don't know when I receive them ;__;

Edit: Nevermind you set them up manually in their respective apps (Messenger, Gmail, etc.) Now I feel stupid

Hi

Are users experiencing WiFi issues with their gn4?
Mine finds, connects and can surf the net etc. However after 5-10 mins and when it is revived from sleep mode it won't connect to WiFi. I have WiFi settings as always connect to WiFi even when sleeping but still is an issue.
