I have a OnePlus One - ask me about it!

I have yet to see any videos on the notification light.
Could you possibly post one? Or, let us know if its multicolored like the Galaxy Devices please. :)

Andrew,

Here's something I'd like to see done that no one has done yet. Can you possibly make a video of the custom lockscreen on the OnePlus One with a pin or pattern on it? I'm curious how Cyanogen Inc handed security on the custom / themed lock screen.

Have you had a chance to test if it has mhl or slimport or some other video out capabilities?

Haven't yet. Need to get an adapter. It does have Miracast wireless display, though.

Thanks for answering questions for us :D

I would like to pick up the "gestures" again... You said, that they are predefined. Is it not possible to map the gestures to other functions? On the Find 7 you have these predefined off-screen gestures too. But If you want to open a app instead the camera when drawing a circle this is possible. Not so on the OPO?

You said that the gestures with screen off are way to sensitive. Are they really working when wearing the phone in the pocket? I thought the gestures dont work if the proximity sensor detects something above?

There are just those pre-defined ones you can do when the screen is off — I see no way to add new custom ones in the stock software I have here. You can add quick-launch shortcuts to the unlock ring if you use the right lockscreen style, though.

Yes, on the software I have here the gestures are activated far too easily. They have turned on the flashlight and the music countless times. I turned the gestures off.

Now that you've used the phone a couple of days, are you ready to give any insight on how battery performance is?

I have pre-release firmware that's expected to be updated multiple times in the next two weeks. There are known bugs keeping the phone awake and negatively hitting battery life. That being said I'm finding it to be roughly on par with what I get out of the Galaxy S5. A full day's use — 14 or so hours, 2-3hrs screen on — gets me to about 20% battery at the end of the day.

Do you know if you can change the off screen gestures to work for any app? Or does it only work for the 5 predetermined setting? Thanks

Answered on page 4.

That's what the lockscreen looks like when you have a PIN or a pattern. This is the stock themed lockscreen, and of course that can all change when you select a different theme.

The LED notification light is multi colored. It is located in the top right corner (I believe)

Top left.

so Andrew, did you ever plug in good headphones and listen to music and compare to One or G2 or

I don't have amazing headphones, nor am I an audiophile in any way, shape or form. But what I've listened to from the OnePlus One sounds fine — just like every other phone I have available to me.

Hey Andrew!

Your thread has been a great help but I was wondering if you could answer some questions...

How does the screen quality compare with the Nexus 5/SG5?
How does the phone's general speed compare with the Nexus 5/SG5?
How is the speaker (quality/ loudness) in comparison with the Nexus 5/SG5?
How is the build quality in comparison with the Nexus 5/SG5? (I know you said it was fine but a comparison would help :))
How is call quality (do the three microphones help)?

Thanks!

So it looks like you lose all the cool lock screen functionality and information if you chose to use a pin or pattern. I was hoping we'd still have the clock, battery percentage, etc on the lower half of the lock screen.

I got a few questions.
1.Tell me something about headphones
2.Tell me something about screen,is that good ?
3.Tell me something about stereo speakers
4.Does resitive buttons works good?
5.What kind of plastic is on cover?
6.Tell me about camera, does it make good photos and videos ?
What's your opinion about phone ?

Screen is good, but the auto brightness requires some tweaking (the options are there, thankfully) to get it how I want it. Other than that, it's crisp and has good viewing angles. It's a little "cooler" than the Nexus 5 and maybe a shade darker at full brightness, too.

It's pretty fast, faster than the GS5 getting through the interface and switching apps. But I have to be honest I don't think its as fast as my Nexus 5.

The loudspeaker is pretty good, actually. Louder than the Nexus 5 and GS5. Still tinny and not very useful for much other than calls and maybe podcasts, but it does the job.

I've talked about the build quality a lot already. It's good, no complaints.

Nobody's said anything about the call quality from my end being good or bad. I can say that the speaker is really really quiet, though. I max out the volume and still have to press the phone hard to my ear to hear — especially when on a loud street, it can almost be impossible to use. Hoping this is a pre-production bug.

1. They transfer sound into your ears.

2. Covered directly above ^^^

3. There aren't any stereo speakers.

4. Resitive? Capacitive? Yeah, they work, but there's a menu button and so they're pretty useless to me. I turn on the on-screen buttons.

5. It's just a hard plastic with a slight soft touch finish. it feels quite nice.

6. I've talked about the camera and posted a few samples. It's pretty decent with photos, but can be hit-or-miss on whether HDR or standard Auto provides better shots, oddly enough. I'm still testing. Video hasn't been tested yet.

7. My opinion is there are bugs that need fixing and a few things that need to be tweaked before I can perfectly evaluate this phone. On top of that, I don't think I can ever get over how big it is.

Another reviewer said when you record video it is only recording from the LEFT chanel? how did they even leave this error past testing?

As I said I haven't gotten into video recording. That'll be coming. Also, every OnePlus One out there is on pre-release software (and even hardware), so take everything you see with a grain of salt.

Is there an equivalent to Trusted Bluetooth devices on the OnePlus One? Phil says that this feature is a must-have for every smartphone (according to this article here).

Is wifi calling available on the OnePlus One?

No trusted BT baked in.

No Wifi calling. Remember, this isn't a carrier phone with the customizations needed for that.

Do you hear any distortion, static, or crackling noise when you connect the phone to a car stereo via bluetooth? How about if you connect it to a pair of headphones with bluetooth?

Don't have a car with a Bluetooth stereo, but I've used a Bluetooth speaker and everything seems fine there.

How does reception differ in dbm's in low signal areas compared to another phone you may have?

Hi. It is possible to use the capacitative buttons with them turned off? Something like "buttons backlight" set to disable?

1. Has your model received any software updates yet? Or any updates that have been promised before the general public release?
2. Is swyping easy to perform considering it's size? (I don't type anymore ever since it's been a feature of google keyboard)
3. Do you prefer this screen over the Z2? ( I hope you have that lying around!)

In my basic testing, the OnePlus One has a lower signal on both AT&T and T-Mobile than my Galaxy S5, Nexus 5 and Xperia ZL. Still have to test more in more places.

No. When you turn them off, they no longer work. That's kind of the point :P .

Nope haven't received any OTAs on my device yet. I was told to expect one early this week, but it hasn't arrived yet. I do know that I don't have a final software build, though.

Using the swipe-style typing on the Google Keyboard works, but it's a big stretch even for my large hands. Typing without swipe using one hand is basically impossible. You need 2 hands here.

Haven't had a chance to use a Z2 yet.
