I have KitKat on T-Mobile

OK, I downloaded KitKat on my T-Mobile phone. It's smooth but not a lot smoother. Without the Google now launcher I don't see what the big deal is. The other features don't seen to matter that much, what am I missing?

For those of you using the Google now launcher is it worth losing knock off on more than the title bar?
