Hi,
The local B&N called me and said that they had received one NC. If I wanted it, I needed to get my butt over there, pronto. So, I did.
I'm trapped at work, so I haven't had a chance to do much with it other than plug in the charger. (Not easy! I had to push worryingly hard.) The Out of Box Experience wasn't as good as it could have been, since the dang thing wants to connect to wifi before you can complete the set up. All the wifi here is locked down, so that's disappointing. They really ought to allow users to skip that.
But who cares about all of that.... On to rooting!
I'm not quite sure what to do next. Once I take it home and connect it to the internet, it's gonna to update itself to 1.1.0, right? I was thinking about trying to root it, block updates, and install the pre-rooted 1.1.0 right away, but I'm having second thoughts. For two reasons:
So, I'm thinking about throwing caution to the winds, and letting it update itself to the OTA 1.1.0. That may force me to jump through some extra hoops once I'm ready to root, but I think I'm okay with that.
Are there any downsides to my plan that I am missing?

- I'd kind of like to leave it stock for a week or two, just to make sure I've got properly working hardware, and to get familiar with the stock configuration. (It'll let me better appreciate the post-rooting experiance!)
- I've ordered a couple MSDHC cards, but they haven't arrived yet, so that limits my options a bit.
