I love HTC , but still have not bought One (M8) ...because of the camera

Re: I love htc, but still have not bought m8...because of the camera

There are plenty of Android phones with good build quality. Not the same thing as build materials...

Its fast or faster then the iPhone, had a larger screen, takes great photos in most conditions and blows away the iPhone in low light, does everything an iPhone can do and more, lasts forever on a single charge....

Your right, it's nothing like an iPhone. :-P

Re: I love htc, but still have not bought m8...because of the camera

Has anyone found a way to keep it from blowing out glare, sunlight and anything else bright? Or avoid the pink hue? Those are my main problems with my nexus 4 camera and seem to haunt all the pictures I've seen of the M8.

Yes, you turn down ev and iso a little bit. Works perfect. You can also use HDR and get great results. I have not had a single issue with pink or purple hues on my camera.

I looked at the photo thread everyday. I can't help to feel disappoint about the colors... it just feels so ... gray
Here i randomly took one of the photos taken with m8 outdoors and edited to bump it up a bit

If this is something htc can just put into the algorithm... I am sold

Try using HDR for that shot, it's always worked great in situations like that for me. You could also try lowering the ev and iso and see if that helps. If it does, save it as a preset for later use.

Well if you want to get technical, build quality refers to all of it. Design, reliability, sturdiness, fit and finish, and build materials.

Sure there are other android phones with good build quality, but none that are as close to the iPhone as the m8.

this is actually one of my main concerns.
I am not too as worried about pink hue as much as the blowing out during extra lighting conditions. It seems particular terrible in back lighting shots compared to competitors. *As seen on Cnet*

Two pictures taken at the same time with S3 and M8, although they are from different angles so have different lighting and M8 was me, S3 was my wife.
These two pictures sold me on the M8.

wow thanks dude!

I like how m8 looks alot sharper in the hair.
But I still like the warmer, brighter over feel in picture from s3.
m8 doesn't seem to handle huge amount of lights coming in directly at the lens very well. Like the reflection on the floor looks so over blown...

It'd definitely help if photos are taken in the same angle, but thanks so much for the photos man :)
This gives me some idea of what I'd be getting if I upgrade to m8 from s3

I love my M8 but I can understand people who wanted more from the camera. For some their smartphone is the only camera they have, so it should be as good as it can be. HTC needs to improve that next year.

thank you for understanding. I think it's pretty reasonable to ask for a camera that is as good any other phone. especially when you are not paying less money...
I mean I do love everything else about this phone. If the picture feel* is just abit brighter and warmer... I'd be happy

Everyone in this thread is just trying to convince themselves that the m8's camera is OK. The fact of the matter is its a 4 megapixel camera and not a very good 4 megapixel camera at that. Just the fact that this thread is so long pretty much proves it. There are similar threads in the Moto X forums and the droid forums and the Nexus forums. You can keep trying to convince yourself but a bad camera is a bad camera.

I wouldn't say m8's camera is bad. (except in settings with plenty of lights)
It is pretty comparable to other phones. On most "comparison photos" it's hard to tell the difference except the photos tend to be darker.

So it's pretty safe to say you don't care for the camera. It's not for you, i get it. It's also safe to say that many of us like the 4 ultra pixl camera and don't need convincing of it.

Actually you don't get it, what I am saying is that this huge thread is nothing but a justification thread. Read outside of this thread if you want the real skinny on the m8 camera.

I don't need to read anything. I can see what the camera is capable of. I have tested out both the M8 and the S5 and the M8 will get the picture more often than the S5. In fact only about 1 out of 4 pics on the S5 are in focus. If you want a camera that will get the shot it's the M8 but there a learning curve.

To the OP I felt the same way after the M8 was announced! I was convinced I was going back to Samsung, I was ok with the M7 but I was soo pissed HTC used this camera again.. One issue, touchwiz! I can't do it .. I installed Nova on the store model S5 and all but when I go to the dialer app, touchwiz, send a text msg.. touchwiz..like its still there and I can't deal with looking at it . I know I could have replaced many apps but why should I use my memory to replace basic phone apps ... Plus there is only a 16g S5 available so that's a waste! So I got the M8 and honestly the pics are fine ... I'm happy with my decision

I get it perfectly fine. I have the M7 and have tried the M8 and for a phone camera they are perfectly acceptable to me and many others who own them.

I do not wear blinders. I have read this thread, other camera threads, reviews, shootout videos... My point is the same, I like the camera. Your point is 100% valid as well, you don't like it.

What i don't need is justification of othersin order for me to enjoy the camera

What I'd ask is why is it important for you to convince others that the camera is sub-par

Looks to me like we're just having a reasonable discussion. The real skinny is that it has it's strengths and weaknesses, just like every phone camera ever.

I knew you were headed here (as in, a S5 owner) as soon as I read your first post. I'm certain you're not bias at all. lol

The camera is great. I actually own the device, so I know for a fact. Have a nice day.
