I LOVE my Nexus (sarcasm) - complaint thread

It is all good. I tried three OS versions, and several ROMS to no avail. I am a thorough SOB too. Has the mic issue even been officially acknowledged?

What roms, radios, etc.?

If this is a legit issue, then stuff like this needs to be noted.

And no, Verizon doesn't acknowledge anything really.

4.0 4.0.1 4.0.2 4.0.3 All of Axioms, and some Bugless beast versions. Between this, and the several hours I spent setting up and wiping, to only have the issue return, after about 10 different OS's ran, I pissed on it. Done. Terigno had a thread up on this awhile ago, and reports of this issue persisted. I have sent my piece to the top hats, and aren't going to spend a life trying to fix it or get happy with it. It was the worst phone I ever owned. I am sure, had I got a good one, and you had mine, our roles here would be reversed. I almost guarantee that. *sigh*

Any way, I ran another ROM (I will have to think of it, as it lasted 2 hours only,) but I am not interested in troubleshooting this thing anymore. I am convinced the mic issue I had was terminal.

The quality control wasn't there, and many of us got burned and lost respect for the nexus line. Sad huh? At least we have this thread to vent:'(

I almost want to revert to all the other reasons I left. Screen bleed (blue is the worst on LQ video) speaker sucks and volume+ just increased the tinny sound. Wifi radio sucks (base-bands can help to a degree, and I tried three.) The skipping streaming audio......while I am hauling ssa, I don't want my music skipping. Speaker popping in class....frigging embarrassing. I am actually going to stop. It wont be productive to list the next six issues I had that I considered to be unacceptable.

Thank you for the help though, that was a nice gesture.

Aww man :( I want to give you a cookie.

Not that that helps much with the phone issues really but D:

A screeching sound? WTF? Never heard of that one. Must have been painful.

Yeah. There are threads on it here and at some other forums. And to be honest, it did hurt. You'd have this ringing in your ear for a little while after the call.

Holy crap. Sorry man. I have sensitive ears, that would have probably burst an ear drum lol

Hey no worries. If it didn't happen I'd still be on that phone. I absolutely loved it. I'm kinda hoping this 4S is just a placeholder for a Nexus down the line when I know I can acquire a working one. I loved that phone. Just couldn't deal with that and knowing that the phone might not function when I needed it to.

Terrigno is a good dude. Looks like 4.0.4 does not solve the mic issue (I knew it would not.) GAH!

If it doesn't, then there are 3 possibilities:

(1) VZW/Google doesn't care, believing it to be very isolated
(2) VZW/Google think it's mainly hardware, nothing they can do
(3) Since 4.0.4 is not an official OTA (just "leaked"), it's very possible that it's incomplete and further bugs will be addressed in, say, 4.0.5.

That's very true. The problem is the GNex is not a new technology. It's current at best, and some would say it's old technology. And why is it everyone finds it necessary to drag Apple into the conversation? Is it to create a diversion, or is it iPhone envy?

This is not current technology. Nothing on the market has the nexus' processor/gpu set up. Not a single one.

But as Jerry said, it isn't just the hardware, but the way the software interacts with it as well.

2 is it; moreover, I wish 3. I would love to be wrong here.

The GPU stinks bud. Hardly future proof. No wonder nobody else uses this combo. GAH!:-$:-$:-$

If your phone is a lemon return it. It's worth finding out and trying the phone than to not even experience it at all.

I'm having similar issues, I'll hang in there. I already slapped $30 worth of Ghost Armor on it so I am hesitant to exchange it :)

Note: I was not commenting on the quality of said gpu. Rather, I was talking about the fact that no other phone has this combo of processor and gpu.

Components are just pieces of silicon, copper, silver, and thermoplastic. The software driving and controlling them is new.

I don't think anything is wrong with the actual pieces themselves, but how they are controlled and operate within the confines of the system is all new.
I really hope that is the case because I have made the decision to stick with the GNex until the next Nexus comes out.

You forgot:
(4) There might be some Galaxy Nexus phones with faulty hardware and not ROM or OTA Update will fix that.
(5) This could possibly be a SIM card issue.

If you really like the phone and having persistent issues that won't go away, I would have this phone and SIM card replaced. It's under warranty, make them take care of it. If you don't like it much of just feel it's not worth the trouble, exchange if for something else.

I got ya buddy. I am soley responsible for that statement. Besides, that is on paper. Using my nexus was awesome speed wise. From the "feel" of it, its hardware runs the OS, and apps just fine.

I really hope that is the case because I have made the decision to stick with the GNex until the next Nexus comes out.
I commend you for you patience and sticking it out. It can only get better from here, and you have a Motely Cr?e at your disposal here. I look forward to seeing you happy with the Nexus!

4 is 3 and 5 has nothing to do with the "mic" dropping out. I ran two sim cards to no avail. I would be shocked if the sim was the cause. Anything is possible I suppose.

4 is not 3, 4 is 4, but I see your point. LOL

So did you ever try a different unit? (Sorry I if you posted it that already.) My guess is that it was point 3(4) and since you did everything possible (including voiding the warranty!). What are the chances that you would get 2 bad units??

And for the record, I would never put anyone down for deciding a product wasn't for them, but you sir should be excused from all piss and vinegar the GN apologist like to throw on the poor sole who doesn't like their phone. LOL

Lol! Thanks man. :) I did run two units. And the thing is, I love the nexus. I can tolerate quite a bit, but those phone calls! Damnit! I am convinced I could have tried another unit, and that all units don't have this problem as evidenced by you and others here.

I can't stand it when people put people down, or condescend them. Glad your Nexus is working well for ya!
