Wait, the GN has bugs?

No apparently losing data for a few hours while your phone switches from 4G to 3G is normal. This phone runs a new operating system so it's cool. The more I read these post the more I feel like I'm over at imore lol.

Save it Beav.... just returned it yesterday with no charges.... no questions asked, just gave us a different phone. The manager had it, hated it, understood where we were coming from... and I had it from day one.

I'll keep my tongue you great minded un-lazy keyboard jockey stud! Keep defending no matter what. If your phone somehow just burst into flames from poor circuitry, I could see you blaming the sun and/or verizon for lack of ability to keep up with the Nexus.

Yeah, at least in my case the flaky LTE network is definitely part of the problem.

I totally agree with you about the new software and flaky LTE network, but new hardware I feel shouldn't be an issue since the components can be vetted sufficiently pre-release. The hardware issues are a factory quality control problem, not a beta issue.

Apparently you've never bought a piece of new technology. There are ALWAYS hardware bugs in first generation hardware. Always. Even apples much vaunted quality can't overcome that. It is a basic fact about being an early adopter.

That's very true. The problem is the GNex is not a new technology. It's current at best, and some would say it's old technology. And why is it everyone finds it necessary to drag Apple into the conversation? Is it to create a diversion, or is it iPhone envy?

Components are just pieces of silicon, copper, silver, and thermoplastic. The software driving and controlling them is new.

I don't think anything is wrong with the actual pieces themselves, but how they are controlled and operate within the confines of the system is all new.

That's a good reason. The only reason I don't have one is the screeching sound in the ear piece during calls. Other than that, it's a sick phone.

It PISSES me off! It is a "slick" phone aside from the failures I experienced. I am a tolerable guy too. I put up with echos from my OG until that got fixed. Screeches? I would drop it too. To many important calls to hope for call stability in the future.

I was responding to the mic issue. No issue with this rom. I've had it cut out once last week on 4.0.2 though.

I didn't have the mic issue, but the 4.0.3 ROM on my phone cleared up most of the bugs I had. I still have a minor problem with Bluetooth connections and an occasional reboot (maybe twice since ROMing?). It's a really nice phone if you can get it working properly.

The thing that I find strange is that it seems as though most of the issues are software related yet not all phones are affected or affected the same way. The code doesn't change but the results vary. How does that happen?


EDIT: I should add that I don't think anyone should have to ROM their phone to get it to work right. That kind of thing isn't for everyone. Most of us didn't sign up to be beta testers.

I wouldn't decide to pass on getting this phone because of mic issues or screeching sounds. I"m sure they exist for those that say they have them, but the vast majority of us (me included) have NEVER had either one of those problems.

It is all good. I tried three OS versions, and several ROMS to no avail. I am a thorough SOB too. Has the mic issue even been officially acknowledged?
