I personally witnessed an AT&T Rep pushing Samsung in a big way today.

Just remember you're talking about SALES people on commission. They might getting quota spiffs (money, trips, gifts) from Samsung to push the new S4, because Samsung has the big money to do so! What's in you wallet?

Having worked my way through college in retail, I can tell you that return processing is the least enjoyable task. Once a rep or clerk has to deal with a regular stream of returns or exchanges of a particular item, they stop pushing that item because they know it's probably gonna come back.
I had am HTC One for a week on a test run. I returned it yesterday. The clerk asked me what was wrong with it. I told her nothing was wrong with but that I just couldn't reconcile with the power button placement and difficulty in pressing, battery drain and charging, lack of wake up/ menu button and sharp edges. The rep sighed and said she hears a combination of my issues with every HTC One return and that it's a shame because it's such a pretty phone.
Footnote: if HTC puts a power button
and a wake up button in places on the next iteration of the One that only require me to move my thumb, hell I'll buy 2 of em.

And Samsung is more well known. I mean even I loved the commercials mocking all the Apple people standing in line amazed that a phone other than Apple could do all those neat things. And the Apple people saying next year Apple will have all those cool features. Whoever came up with that deserves a BIG bonus from Samsung. lol
IMO that would not attract me as an iPhone user, I did not like those ads mocking me.

I got a Nexus 4 for more reasons then me not preferring samsung though.

The title of the thread and the 1st post just cracks me up, I love it. The injustice of it all!

I saw Iron Man 3 last night and before the movie they played a 5min video about the HTC One and how it was made.
I was very excited!

HTC doesn't carry the reputation that Samsung does. It's not a surprise the one went unnoticed. If I had an upgrade I would get it, as I always use my phone for media purposes, I would love those speakers.

AT&T let me upgrade over a month early to get the One. Sooo... they don't just do it for iphones.

I went to the Att store today and all but ONE person I saw in there looking at phones was looking at the One. Some of them were even buying it. That said, there has been tv advertising on the One in my area. I've seen several ads and I don't even watch that much tv. I think they are targeting their ad budget pretty carefully-- it isn't the blanket that Samsung throws over everywhere.

Quite often, people are "instructed" to sell products that offer the best profit or the biggest rebate. In this instance, it is possible HTC One didn't offer either so the "helpful" sales rep was instructed to go to Samsung. This happens all the time in Australia.

You stood in a line for most of a day, if not longer, waiting for a cell phone that you could walk into a retail store a week later and purchase within 5 minutes? Anybody who is that obsessed with an electronic device is not stable and needs to be mocked.

...why are you guys keep making these pointless threads? Yea, sales rep pushes his favorite brand, but so what? You don't lose or gain anything financially from him doing that, so let him be. All you do with threads like these is attract Samsung fanbots (who are just waiting to insert their $0.02 in each thread mentioning word "Samsung" on other brands' forum sections)...
Thank you for adding your opinion on the subject to the 3rd page of a pointless discussion. We appreciate the input.

oh and do you Samsung is opening their own stores? will you say the same thing about the Samsung folk that wait outside the stores? Also its not an obsession I've been told from many people IT'S just fun meeting all the new people and have interesting discussions etc.
also they were stereotyping I never stood in line for my iPhone.

People who spread FUD about iPhone users all standing in line are the same folks who camp outside Walmart when the latest game system or game comes out. :D

I can think of a lot of things that people will stand around for extended periods of times when there are more comfortable options. Saying those people aren't stable and need to be mocked is just stupid.

My phone is a good One!

yea it is always funny to see the reps pushing people or misinforming i like many others here already know everything about the devices and simply go into the store to feel the device in my hand.

For example i remember when the motorola droid 4 came out i went into verizon to check it out as i mostly do with new phones just for fun and while i was waiting to get to the display i overheard the rep telling a guy that the droid 4 had "a removable battery and international sim" i was like ok i cant ignore this so i stepped in and said no im sorry but thats not true. and she tried arguing with me about it and i told her im sorry but the removable back is for the memory card and sim and the sim is only for lte not international. she down right insisted for about 15 minutes and at this point it was a matter of principle, so she finally said ill go get one and show you i said ok. she came back and apologized after she tried to claw at the back realized it was not removable. so at this point i am never surprised by wat reps try and get away with.

just like everything else in life, the only way to make a decision about any purchase is to do the research on your own, and not rely on a store clerk to tell you what you want...

I personally observed this today...

I was in an AT&T store today- a middle aged woman came in with her old iphone. An AT&T rep engaged with her. They were initially looking at the iPhone5. I overheard the lady make the observation that the screen was just longer ? not really larger.

?so, the AT&T Rep ?transitioned? their discussion over to the newly launched Android phone section- where the rep immediately began touting the Galaxy S4. After a couple of minutes with the S4, it was time to check one more phone?.

The rep stepped right past the HTC One, and on to the older products area for a little hands on with the Galaxy S3.

At this point I was leaving the store, so I don?t know what happened next. If that lady bought a phone today, she did so without ever knowing the HTC One even existed.

I don't know about At&t but my girl works for Verizon and she says she pushes customers more towards Android Phones than I phones because they make so little money from it because Apple is greedy she makes little commission on iPhones.
