I removed SD card from S4 unexpectedly, recent pictures/videos gone when reinserted..

I didn't know I had to unmount or turn the phone off to remove the card. Am I able to get the files back on the card?

It sounds like the card may have been wiped. Unfortunately there would be no way to get them back unless you backed them up somewhere else. I always recommend to back up photos to the cloud.

Everything from the card would be gone if it was wiped, right? I had the same SD card in my last phone and everything from there is still on it, just recent pictures and videos I've taken on my S4 have disappeared.
