I rooted my LTE and its like I have a whole new phone!!!

Thanks again sveilien! Took screenshot of the default setting but forgot to scroll down to get the empty app and screenshot that one.

I had been messing with these setting some but hadn't found a good one yet. I used your derringer from frost post and everything seems to be working well. I was reading this on tapatalk then went on internet, text, FB. Came back about 30min later and no reload for tapatalk. Picked up right where I left off. Nice.

Question. I am going to run through this process tonight. I clicked on the link to the video, and it takes you to the page for downloading the drivers and the Rooting Files. For the rooting files, it takes you to a page where you have to select your device. When I choose HTCEvoLTE there are two files in there for download. One is Evo4GLTERoot.zip, which is 1.8MB, and the other is Evo4GLTERoot2.zip, which is 18MB. The video says to run the runme.bat file from the first zip file and I can't seem to find any reference in the video or the thread about what the second file (10MB) is for. Any ideas?

In looking through the two files it looks like the second larger file has a few zips in there that look to be for flashing a custom or stock recovery (CWM-SuperSU-v0.87.zip, openrecovery-twrp-2.1.8-jewel.img and stock_EVO4GLTE_recovery.img). Can we flash a custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader?

Hmmmm try exiting out of Rhapsody by pressing the home button and see if it still gets killed.

Also, OP just say to hit apply after changing the Auto Memory Manager setting. However, there is a check box for Apply on boot. I would think that needs to be checked but it was not mentioned in the OP so I thought I'd ask.

Correct, I forgot to mention that. "Apply on Boot" also needs to be checked. I have edited my original post to reflect that.

I did not touch the second file. The first 1.8 mb file is the one I used. I unzipped it and followed the instructions in the video.

EDIT: As to your other question, I don't think you can flash a custom recovery without the boot loader being unlocked. I could be wrong, but that just makes sense to me.

Multitasking seems to be greatly improved! Just scrolling through Facebook, I did see a couple of minor refreshes. But the were very minor. I'll take that over full application reloads any day! Thanks for posting this. I hope more follow suit and discover the power of root!

This is correct. There are ways to root without unlocking, but stuff like that requires you to unlock.

I didn't have this phone for more than 24 hours before the temptation to root finally got to me (I've rooted every Android device I've had since my Eris).
It's really easy on this phone, you guys. Definitely much easier than it was on my Rezound. And, the more you play around, the more you learn, and the more comfortable you feel while doing it. I love stock but it's nice to have the extra tweaks like Quick Settings, the Menu Button back o (recent apps has been set to long press on Home, instead), direct access to Power Saver Settings, and the ability to send up to 5M on an MMS.

You had me at the "menu back Button".

I might give this a try...

So when you have menu button assign to your recent apps button, do your apps (fb, angry birds) show black menu band at the bottom or does it disappear?
I only wanna root it if that disappears.

Exactly. Plus, I hope he meant the menu key is assigned to the recent apps key, not the back key.

I want to say again, too, I don't think most of us think rooting is difficult.... we know it is easy. What holds most people back is what happens AFTER rooting with warranty, updates, tamper flag, unrooting, etc. Some good info has been shared in this thread, however.

I remember when people were rooting weeks ago, people had issues with camera not working...Are there any issues?

I did. Today, however, it seems to be ok, except for the fact that for some reason I can't get any Sprint signal at my desk (use to get 3 bars).

Maybe it was a fluke yesterday. I'll keep testing. Mog was the worst, so I'll try that again if I can get a stinking signal.

No camera issue for me just from rooting. But when I do the build.prop edit to masquerade as a GS3 (to get Wallet to work), it makes the image from the front camera all orange-ish.
