I smell a conspiracy...

The question is whether Gingerbread was written for the Nexus One or the Nexus S. Someone on the second page said that Google revealed in an Engadget interview that the software was written first and then Nexus S was created. I don't know if thats true, but if it is, maybe there's something going on. If Gingerbread was written for the Nexus S, then I understand why its taking so long.

According to a friend of mine at Google, the Android dev team developed Gingerbread on the Nexus one. The N1 has after all been the numero uno Dev phone for the past several months. Now that the S is out however, ice cream sandwich etc. will be developed on the Nexus S.

Download and sync the GB source tree. It doesn't work on the Nexus One without hacking and editing. Works as-is on the Nexus S.

That code could not have been written for the N1.
