I Tried an S8+.. I lasted a week

I'm currently an S8 plus user, have been for about 2 months now.
I'm enjoying using this phone for most of the reasons already stated; great screen, great camera, great design, solid UI, I even have no problem with the fingerprint scanner placement!
Yes, it's not perfect (what phone is?). I see very occasional lag but nothing worth complaining about. Battery is solid and gets me through the day just fine on moderate use.
I've dipped in to this forum as I've seen a decent deal on the LG G6 (in the UK) and as a tech/phone geek I'm quite keen to try something new already! My main question for you guys, especially those that have owned ed both is how do the cameras compare? Since moving on from my oneplus 3 to S8 plus I've realised that the camera is probably one of the biggest elements of a phone that matter to me....
Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't had both, but I tend to stick with LG because of the cameras.. A lot of times they are underrated, or the reviewers take terrible pics, but I've had so many people come to me on instagram or Twitter telling me that they are going to check out the G6 cause my pictures makes the YouTube reviews they've seen look "stupid". But someone that has had both can give you the answer you are looking for. All I know is when I see the pics on a computer, it's different than when I see them on a screen. Pics on an AMOLED screen seems to look a lot better than pics on an LCD for what people are looking for nowadays.

K. I'll just make it super clear and straightforward with no sugar coating. Post if you want to post. Want to troll and call people liars for an opinion? Go to Reddit.

Thanks.

With the Nova Launcher I can set it to when the screen is on I can double tap anywhere and the camera comes up.

I am by no means a camera geek, I can say that they are both amazing cameras. They both take excellent pictures. I like how the LG has that nice wide angle camera set up. I was hiking and took some pretty cool pictures of the landscape with it.

Im no camera geek either that's for sure! I habe read though that the wide angle setup is great but the aperture for thatens means in darker light the photos aren't so good?? Would you agree? Or is it fine?

The most frustrating part is that here in the UK the LG G6 version is only 32gb on board!

Things that you need to know about the G6 camera:

- Front camera in G6 is worse. It's a 5 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Even normal selfies are hard to take with this mediocre front camera. S8 has an 8MP with f/1.7 aperture which gives you way better photos than G6.

- Main rear camera lens has a shorter angle of coverage as opposed to S8 (or the U11). So, you will cover less region in G6.

- Wide angle lens is great for coverage but comes at a cost. The aperture you get with the wide angle lens is f/2.4 aperture with no auto focus. However, you may find that in many wide angle photos, zooming into a subject, that subject to be not sharp enough degrading the picture quality.

- Daylight shots are going to be good. They won't be punchy as in S8 but they will be good. Low light shots are not that great though. G6 doesn't really utilize the surrounding light to enhance low light photos while S8 (and U11) performs well in low light capturing the low light essence.

The S8/+ has the landscape option that more or less creates a wide angle view, with a little work. I agree on the wide angle option I've enjoyed using that when I had the LG V20

Do you use cloud storage options? Thatll help with the smallish 32gb storage

Been away a couple of days :)
Does the S8 not stretch the pixels in that mode though?

I like the shortcuts as well.. they are really useful, but tend not to use them as much as I should :)

Plus, the thing is, yes ill admit it... IAM a camera geek.. hehe.. (candid / street photographer.. what can I say.. people interest me) and the S8+ was great for capturing detail, but the G6s wide angle lens is just so good for street scenes, that IMO.. it cant be beaten, unless you like cropping in.. of course, sadly my iphone 7+ which I DID use for portaits/telephoto suffers from the "blurry/watercolour" camera bug, its nice having that power.

Im not a selfie fan, so Iam afraid I cant comment on the front cameras, but I know the S8 is pretty good and outshines the G6 :)

The thing to remember though.. is these cameras can never replace a DSLR, although theyre getting so good now.. the quality is starting to match that of compacts, but theres always going to be a trade off.

For me.. I just wish Samsung would share some of their apps they make for all phone, some of them are really useful.. just cut down on the permissions.

Although this is about the S8+, I am pretty interested in the Note 8 coming out soon. Slightly bigger screen than S8+, with the stylus. I've had the Note 3 and Note 4 and was a pretty big fan.

My coworkers laugh at me all the time, because I can find (OR make up) a song to suit any situation! lol
I had a friend that would sometimes start singing a song triggered by a key word in every sentence you would say.
Lol...hilarious.
