I Tried an S8+.. I lasted a week

My problem with G6 is it's LG UX software. It's pretty inferiror to Samsung Experience. I feel like I am using the old TouchWiz when I use G6 with respect to it's UX. The LG SmartWorld app is too slow and the themes are also not good. Of course you can download other launchers to theme but comparing this with Samsung Themes, LG Themes are very bad (so are HTC Themes).

My next problem with G6 is lack of shortcuts, especially camera launch shortcut. Every phone has the standard shortcut - double press the power button - to launch camera at anytime and support one or more features in the FPS. G6 lacks both. AOD too is inferiror to Samsung AOD where you can apply lots of themes and take actions on the icons that take you directly to the app.

I am not being negative but I have the S8, G6, U11, OP5 and Honor, and, G6 is my least favorite.

For a flagship phone, if they had put more effort in the LG UX to be more memorable!
I've always had bad luck with themes. There is always some app in which some part of it is not visible without the stock theme. I gave up on them.

Here in an topic where the OP says he tried an S8 and didn't like it.. It's all opinions, and obviously people have differing opinions on the subject matter. I personally like LGs software better than TouchWiz.. Everyone I know with any note or S phone, even the knew one.. Has put a new launcher on theirs. I know many people with LG and only one person that out a launcher on his, and it's because he's used to the launcher cause he's used it on all his Sammy phones and that the first thing he's conditioned to do.

It's all opinion.
I don't know about the G6 but I love the user experience on v20. I like that I can rotate the homescreens and will eventually return to home rather than only being able to add screens on the right. I also love the icon at the bottom allowing me to drop down notification bar without swiping. Reminds me of NOVA. I love it.

I don't have any problem with capacity. I've had it since day one.. But I do have an SD card and I stream most of my music.
I agree. But on long plane rides I can't stream my music. Why I have almost 30 gb of music I've accumulated through out the years on my SD card

Storage space depends on the usage. I for one know 32gb won't be enough for me as I use lots of apps, games, icons, wallpapers, widgets that easily take up space. And you cannot move them to SD card either. You will have to sacrifice uninstalling/installing apps which is not good.

In my S8, I have already used 29GB of internal storage space. Good that the S8 comes with 64GB onboard storage. I still have music, photos and movies in my SD card.

Yeah I'm loading my amazon music with offline play for my upcoming trip haha

It's virtually the same as the V20. So you're one of the few of us that doesn't mind LGs UI? nice.

What excatly do you guys don't like about LGs UIx ?

As much as I love the G6, the UI can appear a bit cartoon-ish and unlike HTC and SS, LG dont do alot in the way of themes.. and theres no way im going to spend £500 - 600 on a new phone just to stock a cheap launcher on it, also... sometimes on very rare occasions. the UI can take a second or 2 to refresh, when closing an app where the home screen goes blank then all the icons appear, nothing like the G4 or even G5, but it happens.. its wierd.

When you guys talk about storage.. Am I the only one who prefers MS OneDrive?

Theres just something sleek about OneDrive.. to me, Google Photos and G.Drive just seems bloated and top heavy, although Im not sure if the G6 supports USB OTG.. which is what I liked about the S8+.. as you dont have to worry about Cloud storge.. just stick it on a USB Pen drive :).. which is a big issue with the iPhone 7+ and Apples obsession with forcing you onto iCloud.

I just hope that for the S9 and the G7 we see boith SS and LG fit Stereo speakers but keep the headphone jack :)

The Song & video is cool btw. :)

I've been using gDrive for years now never liked onedrive, then again each his own :P
I do confirm the g6 works with otg,Basically tried it with the adapter that comes with the s8 lolz, works with no issues for me. I do agree the default UI is a bit outdated imho but we have themes engine now so i've had no worries there switched it up and bam new dark theme for my g6 that fits very nicely with the platinum version i have :)

Also rocking the Platinum version here, although the Black G6 is nice.. I just fancied a change.. and yep.. OTG works fine (I also have an S8 USB adapter..lol).. great for instantly dumping and protecting all your holiday photos onto a pen drive, if your hotel Wifi is slow :)

My love of OneDrive started from my Windows 8 Mobile Lumia 930 days, when it came free with a Windows Phone.. plus if Im honest.. Ive had that many windows phones over the last 5 years with free OneDrive space with every phone, Im upto 115GB free now.. hehe.. Im not arguing with that.. :).

My dislike of G.Drive started with Android 6 MM, when everytime I went to the Gallery or started Music, I kept having to turn G.Drive sync off over and over again, then it kept asking and warning me of loss of data if I didnt sync with Google... I realise its probably better now under 7.N, but its kinda lost its appeal for me now, so Onedrive it is.. but its nice to know its there and I have options :)

- Wide angle lens is great for coverage but comes at a cost. The aperture you get with the wide angle lens is f/2.4 aperture with no auto focus. However, you may find that in many wide angle photos, zooming into a subject, that subject to be not sharp enough degrading the picture quality.

I'm pretty sure the wide angle lens is autofocus. With an f/2.4 aperture your depth of field is pretty shallow. Fixed-focus lenses are typically much smaller, fixed apertures, maybe f/11 at most.

It does however lack image stabilization.

Nope. The wide angle lens has no auto focus and you cannot also set a focus point. Here are the G6 specs at GSM Arena.

This is a cool thread. People discussing 2 killer phones without beating each other up.

IMO, this is what threads should be like... lets face it.. if a group of like-minded people cant come together and friendly discuss/debate something they all enjoy and love without trolling and arguing like 5 year olds .. Then society really is in trouble.

At the end of the day.. Its only a forum, not your family.. but sadly, there are people who take it all too seriously and tend to mis-interpret a difference of opinion as an attack on them personally.

Like in life.... the best way is just laugh and dont take things too serious :)

It almost went awry but we (especially the mods) managed to keep it afloat! :D

Glad you got to try it out and see what you liked best! Phantom touches would annoy me too! Goodness! Lol. Glad you are liking the G6!

^ This .. so .. much. :D. It is nice to have civil discussion since it makes my job easier and is just better for the overall forum fun / posting. That way I don't have to slap hands and then explain to people how they broke a rule or were being rude when honestly .. it isn't needed.

We are all here to nerd out. We won't all ever agree since we have various options on Android versus just one phone per year. As the motto goes ... "Be together, not the same" :).
