I Tried an S8+.. I lasted a week

Ive also owned a 7+, but found the LTE/4G worked great for me on O2..

Arent LTE speeds dependent on your carrier, rather than phone?

recDNA, not sure if the rumurs/leaks are true... but if Google actually have gotten LG to remove the headphone jack on their new Pixel XL 2, then Im not interested.

I just hope LG dont think removing the headphone jack is a good idea on their own phones, or we could see the G7 following Apple and HTC.. I do realise Tech has to advance, but IMO, this is a stupid idea and another excuse for devs to pull an Apple and start charging for priority only phones..

Although I could forgive LG if they fill that wasted headphone space with stereo speakers..

Lets hope eh :)

I would say lte speeds are dependant on the phone. I have always received better signal on Android version iPhone. Maybe I'm wrong, the reason is that each Android phone is tailored specifically to the network in which you use. In the meat and potatoes of the operating system Sprint/AT&T/Verizon/ who ever adds to the each firmware update network specific items. Where apple just release on massive update for the masses that doesn't focus on one carrier over another.

My problem with G6 is it's LG UX software. It's pretty inferiror to Samsung Experience. I feel like I am using the old TouchWiz when I use G6 with respect to it's UX. The LG SmartWorld app is too slow and the themes are also not good. Of course you can download other launchers to theme but comparing this with Samsung Themes, LG Themes are very bad (so are HTC Themes).

My next problem with G6 is lack of shortcuts, especially camera launch shortcut. Every phone has the standard shortcut - double press the power button - to launch camera at anytime and support one or more features in the FPS. G6 lacks both. AOD too is inferiror to Samsung AOD where you can apply lots of themes and take actions on the icons that take you directly to the app.

I am not being negative but I have the S8, G6, U11, OP5 and Honor, and, G6 is my least favorite.

For a flagship phone, if they had put more effort in the LG UX to be more memorable!

Yes generally LTE speeds or any cellular speed would/should be based on the carrier BUT I am not kidding the S8 gets better speed! I think it has better radios and such or something! @dpham00 can probably explain it better than I! Lol

S8 definitely has better radios for me as well when compared with G6 and the U11.

Digital break i think you are a bit of a liar. And dude srsly things you don't like on phone and it has camera shortcut double press volume down btw. You sure that u have all the 2017 flagships ? AOD ? Maybe because the samsung has amoled display ? And srsly themes for amoled and radio ? Likeee sorry but i just can't belive the things you named for idk that make you love/hate or buy/don't buy the phone. Lg ux looks like older touchwiz ? And who uses the radio or at least the preinstaled app ? Like tune in pro dude.

How is he a liar because he voiced his opinion? Just because someones opinion doesn't share what you think doesn't mean they're a liar lol :P.

No i just don't belive him that he has all the named devices. Lg has cam shortcut on their devices since like g2 on volume buttons and he claims he missed it and bla bla... Comparing ux to touchwiz idk radio he is funny like ?????

Well I can tell you he has / had what he said at one point. He has no reason to lie about it :).

Seriously though - unlock your G6, try to launch the camera with the shortcut and please post the result here.

Radios - we are talking about the cellular radio signals and not AM/FM radio. Did you even read the threads here?

Software Experience - It's my opinion that LG UX is not on par with other flagship software experiences. You may differ, but I seriously don't care. I voiced my opinion.

Calling me a liar - I will leave it to the moderators to keep this thread civil.

I find it funny I read more and more about how the S8 and S8+ aren't all that is cracked up to be

an excellent article from XDA developers talk about the loss of the headphone jack, but half way thru article the author even says:

"Since October of 2016 I have used a phone without a headphone jack about 75% of the time, and when it came time to look at replacing my aggravatingly laggy*Galaxy S8, I didn’t even think twice about the U11 not having the port, it just was not that big of an issue"

I've been scrolling down the s8 forum here and on mine croatian forum and basicly for g6 no1 is complaining while the s8 i see that lots of people are having issuses with the phone.
Loss of headphone jack idk how would i chew that out, i'm always listening to music wherever i go..

I absolutely agree about LG's software. I tried the G6 in store and found its UX to be a bit ugly and outdated like when you get to the last home screen and everything stretches out to bounce back. I'm a stock Android guy and always preferred stock but the new Samsung UX looks great to me. I had an S7 up until a month ago and when I had to change phones and I was split between an S8 and the Pixel and chose the latter mainly because I love getting updates fast but I still wondered if I should have gone with the former. I did like the G6's physical look and screen though. But the software is what made me choose something else.

I knew the Bixby button wasn't mappable before I purchased the phone. There were a few articles about it on Android Central's front page when the phone came out, if I remember correctly.

I had the G6 and my S8 gets better reception because of the SD 835, which is meant to handle faster LTE speeds and it gets better connectivity (which means better reception). The SD 821 vs SD 835 debate is legit because of that very reason.

I agree the stock LG software and UI isn't my favorite but TouchWiz isn't much better IMO. With the G6, first thing I installed is Nova launcher with the paid version (which I do with every new Android phone) and it is so much better

Here in an topic where the OP says he tried an S8 and didn't like it.. It's all opinions, and obviously people have differing opinions on the subject matter. I personally like LGs software better than TouchWiz.. Everyone I know with any note or S phone, even the knew one.. Has put a new launcher on theirs. I know many people with LG and only one person that out a launcher on his, and it's because he's used to the launcher cause he's used it on all his Sammy phones and that the first thing he's conditioned to do.

It's all opinion.

Yeah, LG's software is the one thing that keeps me away from their phones. I know it's improved on the G6, but it still looks a bit clunky and boring.

The great thing about Android though is that you can get your personal desired effect by changing the launcher.

It's actually light and doesn't slow the phone down at all..

Honestly after using the S8+ for 3 months and switching to the G6. The software experience for myself is a lot smoother on the G6. I'm not saying that it's terrible on the S8+, after being 100% immersed in touch wiz. It is rather noticable. What I like the best about the LG is the high contrast them with the paid version of Nova launcher on it.

On the S8+ if I had a notification in the pull down like Google play updates. if I selected it it would take 10+ seconds to open Google play from there. I could close the notification tab open the play store and navigate to the app updates before it would trigger the selection from the notification bar. That happened with a lot of apps for me. I would get lag constantly on the S8+. I have tap tycoon for the last 505 days and I have played it on every phone I have had in that period(8 to be exact) The only phone it lagged on was the S8+. it is not a graphic or processor intensive game at all.
