I went to trade in for a Nexus and got slapped in the face!

Never thought I'd be conflicted once they released the GN. Im glad I rented the Rezound, after toying w/ the GN today, it didn't feel like I made a mistake by renting. I like the GN but it really just made me wonder how nice the Rezound could be if the bootloader was unlocked. I almost hate to say this but if devs. can unlock it before I have to return it, I'll have to keep it. This phone, w/out Sense bogging it down, has scary potential.

Don't forget having cm9 on the way and all the optimizations that comes with that rom. We're going to have dev support out the wazoo!

But yeah, I rented a rezound for a day and brought it back to best buy. I am just tired of sense, I wanted stock and now that I have the nexus I finally retired my thunderbolt

I'm sure I must be missing something. The nexus is Google's Flagship device, right? Google has 3 phones (well, 2 1/2, since Verizon owns the other 1/2) . The nexus phones are not meant to be the flagship Android phones, they are meant to set the next benchmark for the rest of the phones to follow. Anybody remember why the nexus line even started? Because all the manufactures were making HTC Hero quality phones and Google wanted better hardware. Nobody would do it, so they contracted HTC to make the Nexus. They also wanted developers to have a phone that was easy to mess with so making apps was easier. The nexus S and G-nex though came out, both with pretty much on-par stats, because the first nexus got Google's point across. The S pushed internal storage up, but lets face reality, Google Wallet is only going to take off when Apple decides what kind of tech "apple wallet" is going to use. If they go with anything other than NFC, Nexus phones NFC is gonna be like owning a laser disc player. What is the G-nex gonna add to phones? 1 gig of ram? HD screen? Dual core processor? These are developers phones. I can't even really say Google is selling this as the Iphone5 everyone wanted, but some crazy fanboys over hyping it on the Internet. Google I think, is saying, for ICS to work properly, this is the phone you at least need to make. To be as boss as the nexus 1 was back in the day, we would have had to see a quad-core, 2gigs of ram, a 1080p screen, and as thin as the Razr. Those are the specs required to make the G-Nex as relevant for as long as the first Nexus was.

I wanted a G-Nex pretty bad, but got my rezound for free, and my wife got a Razr for free. I just wanted it for a bloat-free experience, but saving what ended up being somewhere around $600 (both phones), waiting was stupid.

BTW, how many guys demanding vanilla android have actually used vanilla android? My old desire I could switch to vanilla (with home switching app, not rooted). It sucks balls compared to anything the manufactures put on the phone. If vanilla is so great, why do most custom roms have ADW or some other home screen? I can't judge ICS, because I don't have it, but really, didn't it just catch Vanilla up to GoLauncher? Most people getting the G-nex now, may in fact be the guys rooting and rom'ing the hell out of it, but most people are to scared, and/or won't care to do this stuff. I'm sure if your a developer, you rightfully so should be pumped. But just what if Sense 4 kills Vanilla ICS like it kills vanilla Gingerbread? I'm a GoLauncher guy, but will take Sense over Vanilla any day of the week. I think what people want is bloat free Android.

Lastly, isn't this the Rezound forum? Did they not get the G-nex forum up for you guys? The original post says something about the Rezound not being such a stupid idea, but why all the Apple fanboys showing off their Nexus' in the Rezound forum? Are the same posts in the Razr forum as well? I mean, it's cool the guys who trading in their rezound coming in and saying why, but the dudes who never used one? Go troll in the Iphone forums, show 'em how fancy you are (if you actually own one yet).

HTC is not the mfg of the nexus

Sounds like a lot pen15 envy up in this bit*h.

Explain EXACTLY what's there to be envious of please.

Slower CPU? SD card storage? Older GPU? I'm lost here. HD super amoled display with fewer ppi? Lower resolution camera?

I couldn't wait for the GNex to be released. Finally picked up a Rezound on Nov 17 with every intention of trading for the GNex once released. I fell in love with my Rezound, but i figured I owed it to myself to check out the GNex today. I am so happy that the GNex release was delayed and I picked up this Rezound. It is the best phone I have ever used, and ICS will be along soon enough...

My battery life is great BTW! And let me know how you like being limited to voice OR data when you hit a 3G area with your Nexus...

All LTE phones on Verizon allow voice and data simultaneously even when on 3g.

What was bogged down? There's no lag to it, the Rezound has more than enough under the shell to handle the OS and the skin. If you don't like it, that's fine. But to say it was bogged down is an exaggeration.
And the bootloader doesn't need to be unlocked in order to run a ROM, which I think is what you're getting at. I'm confident that a perm. root will be achieved. It's only a matter of time.

About the battery life, I will bet you that I get much better battery life on my Incredible than you do on your Fascinate. I am a heavy user and average 2 days on a standard battery.

You and I must have entirely different opinions of what a heavy user is...

Wow, I feel better about my decision to keep my rented Rezound. I thought I was the only one. I waited in line for 15 minutes yesterday just to play with the demo Nexus. I was very underwhelmed by it. I did as much comparison as I could in the 2 minutes I had. I thought the Rezound had a much better build quality (the Nexus felt spongy when pushing the screen and holding the back cover). I thought the Rezound had a slighlty better looking display (more crisp and clear). I thought the Rezound was actually snappier even with stock sense ui. I thought the Rezound took better quality pictures- they both have fast shutters but I did like the Nexus instant shutter.

I'll have to wait to spend some serious time this weekend with a Nexus to give an honest opinion on it. They are both great phones.

My first impression of the Nexus was "it's nice". My first impression of the Rezound was "WOW"! The Rezound still wows me 3 weeks later.

The camera is too quick imho on the nexus.
It almost appears as if it doesn't give you enough time to focus.

Definitely decided on the Rezound.

Will my Dinc chargers work with it?

Someone said it uses a proprietary charger?

I'm a bit curious how the rezound has become somewhat of a sleeper hit, in the face of the initial "meh" reaction to the product.
Must be the awesome VZW commercial where the Black family of four goes in and picks it up and immediately starts dancing...another nice stereotypical commercial to sell phones.

Oh and before I forget, you get that awesome set of $100 earbuds that sound like music being played underwater in the over driving bass response.

You made a point. The phone does not have to be heavy and bulky to have good build quality. The Evo and Incredible are light phones and are made much better than most Samsung phones. My daughter just got a Galaxy SII yesterday and my wife's first words were wow this phone is made so cheaply. About the battery life, I will bet you that I get much better battery life on my Incredible than you do on your Fascinate. I am a heavy user and average 2 days on a standard battery.

The build quality on the first 3 runs of EVO's was an absolute sh!t show. HTC's build quality is overhyped. Samsungs is underrated by the people that yell about plastic. Funny, my HTV EVO was plastic too. Hhhmmm

I did not see that that sucks. WHY???

The REzound is the phone to beat. No ifs buts or what ever!!!!!!!!!!:)
Totally disagree..... actually I couldn't disagree more. I would choose a moto device over the Rezound.

Yet nobody wants to answer the big question: what is innovative about the Nexus?
