I went to trade in for a Nexus and got slapped in the face!

Went beck to verizon, looked at thr rezound, then thr display nexus. So glad I exchanged my faulty Nexus for my new Nexus withought those screen lines. It is not normal and my display is perfect!!! FTW Nexus rocks!!!!! Rezound is a second for sure.

Two other quick things for people to bear in mind. The colors on the AMOLED screens can be easily adjusted, so the over saturation some don't like is a non issue. Also, when comparing reception, please stop talking about bars. Those bars mean almost nothing.

True, there's lots of variation in what algorithm is used to figure out how many bars to say the phone is receiving, but in my case I also ran a few speedtests and the Rezound was consistently out performing the GN by almost 2 to 1 in the poor signal situation.

You can still make the point that speedtest results may also be only partially related to perceived performance, and to a certain extent my experience was like that: while the speedtest results made the Rezound seem twice as fast, during the "real world" experience of waiting for a page to load in the web browser it was much less noticeable. The Rezound was loading pages faster, and perceived speed difference was noticeable but the difference was not nearly so dramatic.

EDIT: However, during that period when the GN dropped to 3G the difference was much more noticeable, and the fact that it dropped to 3G at all and the Rezound did not caused the most concern. Perhaps a not-so-great individual unit, but enough to concern me.

I traded my Rezound in for a Nexus and I couldn't be happier. I liked a few things about the Rezound better than the Nexus like the auto brightness and the lock screen. ICS is seriously awesome. Sure, everything else will eventually get their own flavor of ICS. But I love knowing that this was the phone that Google intended the world to have. Everything else will just follow in the GN's footsteps.

But it's not just software. I love how the Nexus feels in my hand. It's big, but not gigantic. It's thin, but not RAZR thin (read: too thin). It's very very light. I can't believe there's a battery in there!! The Rezound felt very nice too. The heft made it feel like a serious phone, but not so far to make it a brick. It felt like a man's device, but somehow wore its weight better than my wife's iPhone. Side by side, the Rezound almost felt lighter. But the Nexus still has it beat. It's perfectly weighted like a Samurai sword. I like the Rezound's "rubber" soft plastic backing. It was very grippy and felt very secure. I could put it on my lap while driving and not worry about it sliding off. The Nexus feels equally premium, but it is definitely more slippery.

I enjoyed my time with the Rezound. It's a wonderful device and you should be very very proud to own one. but personally my Rezound's back cover never quite fit right. If I held the phone tight enough especially around the edges, it creaked and squeaked like an early 90's Chevy Cavalier. The Nexus is as tight a Navy submarine. When checking it out for the first time, my wife took the back cover off of the Rezound herself with in seconds. It took her a couple minutes with the Nexus (yes I let my wife play with my phones) It's flush and solid that she even asked if it's non-removable. Only a discreet tab at the top gives away the secret entry. You can press on the phone all you want and she'll never make a peep. There's a slight rattle coming from around the camera, but I'm not sure what's causing the noise. I don't think it's the cover. It sounds like something is loose inside, but it's only when I give the phone a little tap so maybe it is the cover. It's a little disconcerning...

Anyway, the store's demo Nexus may have had a poor fitting cover because it is a floor model. With a security device attached to the back and plenty of people carlessly pulling on it, I don't doubt that it eventually pops off. The should glue that sucker down to avoid giving poeple the wrong idea. But my opinion is that my Nexus may be made mostly of plastic, but it feel much more business like and premium than the slightly squeaky, perhaps portly Rezound. I would rather have a lighter phone than a super chunky one that's still made mostly of plastic.

This is a good review because joejoe509 has owned both devices and spent time with them. I will get some time this weekend with a Nexus- I'm looking forward to seeing all ICS has to offer. You can't get a full user experience in 2 minutes on an in-store demo unit.

I will say my Rezound's back cover doesn't creak or squeak at all and is tighter than a frog's ass. The demo Nexus unit at my local Verizon actually creaked and made plastic noises, which made it feel cheap to me. That could have been because of the security lanyard.

Same old story here. Picked up my Rezound on Nov 15th to replace my rooted D-1. The Razor felt like I was holding a dinner tray. I was tired of waiting for Nexus, so I figured why not. I really loved the Rezound though.
Went to Verizon today and spent some time with the demo Nexus. Even though I'm on my second Rezound, the first one had sound issues (background static with ear buds). I'm about 95% sure I'm staying Rezound. Everything I really liked about the Nexus phone was just ICS.

Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk

I too thought that at first but then was shown that it will work with a standard micro usb cable.

The camera is too quick imho on the nexus.
It almost appears as if it doesn't give you enough time to focus.

Definitely decided on the Rezound.

Will my Dinc chargers work with it?

Someone said it uses a proprietary charger?

Hi- I also went to the Verizon store to check out the Nexus because I had heard what a fantastic phone it was going to be. My thoughts are about the same as others on here -that it just wasn't what I thought it would be. The screen was pretty but not as good as the Rezounds screen and I sure DIDN'T like the feel of it. I had the Droid Charge before and I really didn't like the feel of that one either. I read the threads on the Nexus and it seems like so many issues already for a phone that hasn't been out but 2 days. The reception issue seems to be huge on the Nexus.Like I said I had the Droid Charge before the Rezound and it had the EXACT same reception issues that never got fixed even with the Gingerbread update. I have never had an HTC phone before but I couldn't be happier with this one. It has blown me away : ) I asked a Verizon rep why the Rezound was not being promoted like the Razr since the Rezound was such a great phone-this was her answer-"every now and then you stumble across a "ninja" phone, one that just kind of sneaks up and proves itself to be far superior to others in the same market, and I really think that the Rezound is one of those! That pretty much sums up my thoughts!!!!!

I read on the nexus forum that this is a beta testing phone, and to get used to all the bugs. Software wise this is true, but hopefully the hardware things are just normal quirks all phones have. Even us worshiping at the Rezound throne have to admit there are issues that need taken care of.

Also, HTC putting the antennae in the battery door must be genius, because it picks up wifi better than the laptop, and gets full bars of 4g everywhere is seems.

You are correct "twolastnames" No phone is perfect and they all have there issues for sure. I just want the one with the least amount of issues, fast, feels good in the hand, beautiful screen, and great reception, Oh wait did I just describe the Rezound? LOL I am sure once the kinks are worked out of the Nexus it will be a great phone as well. I had said before that I wouldn't have anything but a Samsung phone. I personally think HTC is a great phone and it has totally changed my mind. After coming for the Samsung Fascinate to the Droid Charge I am so impressed with the lack of issues on Rez vs.issues I had with my Samsung phones.

You guys, the main appeal of the nexus is ICS yes, but because this is the "Google" software phone now, it will recieve all updates before any device you can name, that is the true appeal of the phone. If you arent into the latest and greatest offerings from google on a regular basis, Then I can understand why you wouldn't want a nexus over a resound

Here's another way to compare phones. What can the Rezound do that the Nexus can't?
Answer: Nothing...
Nexus has the advantage of NFC, up to the minute updates, and an unlocked bootloader. There's no denying that.
All the other arguing points are just a matter of opinion.

What's the hype about NFC? Are users going to start paying with their phones? I mean if it transmits as well as receives. Does it have other applications? Looking at a short YT vid it seems like it could be used nefariously. If used for data transfer, how does it differ from apps like Bump?

from what i can tell is it can take better quality pictures, have loud enough notifications and speakerphone conversations so you can hear them, talk and surf on 3g at the same time, better screen quality that is not using PENTILE.

This complaining about the screen being pentile has to stop too. I have not seen a single review that didn't say the screen was beautiful. Just because its pentile does not mean its like Motorola's pentile screens. Aren't the other AMOLED's pentile also?
