ICS will roll out June 27, 28, 29 depending on your location

Everyone calm down. Attacking Verizon/Motorola is one thing, but attacking each other is unacceptable. No more name calling or personal attacks.

And my two cents: there are many Samsung, LG and other owners that would kill for upgrade deadlines being met, or dates given at all. All is relative and the grass is always greener, but it is something to keep in mind.

I had no idea my opinion was so scandalous. If I knew it would blow up like this, I wouldn't have bothered.

Unfortunately, in the world of the intertubes, it just seems that a simple comment like "I like pie" could set off a flame war. And no, I'm not saying that I like pie, so don't flame me!

Depends on the pie...

Anyone that actually believes anything any rep says about updates is foolish and well deserves to be disappointed. You buy a phone for what it has not what it may get. Relax people.

Sig-worthy right there.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as after all it is their opinion. The hard part for many of us is to look at both sides of things with an open mind vs. being "selfish". For example it is being selfish of us to expect the best service, faster speeds, unlimited plans for less money. Company's have to walk a fine line of providing the best product they can while also making a profit and NO profit is not a bad word. If where you worked didn't make a profit your company would be closing it's doors very shortly. I hear terms mentioned like corporate greed but how do any of us know how much money any company actually has after paying all of their bills? Is it common for people to want things for less money? Of course. Is it right? That depends on who is answering the question.
I do agree that no one should get "beat up" over their wanting ICS sooner rather than later. As well as understanding why others would rather the bugs are worked out first. That boils down to early adopters vs. tried and true :D

I'm glad Motorola is taking their time with ICS. Hopefully it will be bug free.

Myself along with others I assume would be willing to pay for updates if it came out right away. If $$ is an issue do it that way but only if it is within a month or so after the os update is out..

We must all remember that the delays are caused by Verizon and not Moto or Google. The same thing happened with the GNex. Google had the software to Verizon a long, long time ago. They say they are being more detailed in order to provide a better update, but I still had numerous problems with my GNex and I'm sure there will be with the Maxx. I think Verizon probably wishes they could have held back this update until after the SGIII and Razr HD were released in hopes of selling some more phones at full retail as well.

Give the guy a break. I agree with the cable guy analogy. Every time I get a service window they always show up at he very end of the service window and then stay another 2 to 3 hours.

I'm confused why people are under the impression that Verizon and Motorola giving us the update within the timeframe they said is a bad thing.

Can someone please justify this incredibly twisted logic?

Think of yourself buying a new car.... you paid the money in full to the dealership for the car, and now you want to drive it..... the salesperson tells you that delivery will be in 6 weeks....

3 Weeks in you get a call from the salesperson. " Your car is scheduled for delivery today....."

You go to the dealership, only to find out your car wasn't their and no one has an answer as to where it is..... "but they will look into it and get back to you....sorry for the inconvenience."

You call back the next week for an update; however, no one has an answer for you....you ask to speak to a manager, they apologize and tell you, "when your car comes in, you will be the first person called."

Weeks four and five set in and you hope that your car is on that delivery truck....but it did not ship. And still, no one has an answer for you...
Frustration sets in now as there is no answer what happened to your car....and then FINALLY on the last day of the sixth week...you get a call saying your car is FINALLY HERE, and you may finally come and pick it up.......

See the potential problem?

See the potential problem?

It's a lost cause, bro.
I'll recap the following responses you'll get to your post;
"Entitled"
"Whine"
"Dumb"
"They don't OWE you anything!!!"
"Omg be grateful"
Basically, once you fork your money over, shut up and take whatever you get. The consumer base has devolved to just settling for whatever comes their way. This is similar to those that yell "If you don't like America, get the **** out!"
But I do love America, and I do love Moto products. I would like to see them both become even better, as a consumer and as a taxpayer. The deadline is being met, no one is arguing that it wasn't. The issue is the last minute release, and that it bothers some of us. Simple as that. No one is anger bombing their Twitter over this, or trash talking their dev team.
I'm wondering what would happen if Moto would have said ICS will be released in 2012. How many people would be bothered by it launching on December 31st.
But again, your words fall on deaf ears.

Everyone has to remember this is a device that has functioned very well with little/no issues so "needing" an update is almost irrelevant on this device. It works as advertised and there is no real hurry for an update. The only reason we "need" an update is to satisfy our desire for new things which realistically doesn't make it a priority for moto or any other company.

This isn't a good analogy. You bought a new phone and you have the new phone in your hand. You are driving your car. You just don't have the liquid-cooled leather seats you were waiting for. Your car is still the best in the business, gets the best gas mileage in the industry, has great visibility and acceleration, you just don't have your precious liquid-cooled leather seats.

And you complain. You hold one of the best phones in the industry, a phone that people with ICS have been willingly switching to the terrible, ancient Gingerbread just to get our hardware, and your only complaint is that you don't have the patience to wait for the end of Q2. Patience is a virtue, and soon, it will pay off tenfold.

EDIT: On second thought though, maybe ICS is your car. Maybe that's the only thing that really matters. In which case, you could have easily put your Razr up on eBay, there are plenty of takers, and bought yourself a Galaxy Nexus. But lets face it, you'll be losing a lot in the hardware department, just to get a shiny new interface.

honestly i have issues with mine that im hoping an update will fix :-\

I guess if we are looking at it as a car, from my perspective this would be my analogy.....

So I walk onto a lot, and they have the EXACT car I want, except.........it's white. And I HATE white cars. So I start to walk away. But the salesmen runs me down, and says look.......if you can give me ONE WEEK, we will pay to professionally paint that car Navy Blue. Just give us a week to get it into the shop.

So I decide.........okay fine. I can deal with one week of a color I don't like. Love the car, don't particularly love the color. And then I bring the car back in a week, and they say...."oops, we need another month. But thanks for being a valued customer of ours. We promise it will be worth it." Then after a month, they need another 3 months. ANYONE would get frustrated with that. At least a little bit.

I agree, it is my fault entirely for believing this salesmen, but the thing is, I bought this car from the best dealership in the State, and they have a fantastic reputation of customer service, so I REALLY thought they'd stand by their word. Ultimately yes, it is entirely my fault for being foolish. But who hasn't gotten suckered in by some gimmick at one time or another?

I love the Maxx even with Gingerbread. But I LOVE updates and change. And I can't help but get excited when one is on the way. It's not that i'm "whining" or livid. I just get excited, and even defensive when someone is condescending to me because they feel differently.

But no matter what, I am just happy to have a great phone and I hope we all can be happy together and not lose control of our emotions and get nasty. Thanks for listening to me :)

I see a slew of devices are getting ics, or at least some announcements of devices getting it. Has anyone heard anything new about our device?

I was wondering the same thing. This whole thread got so off topic so fast, that I failed to realize that I haven't seen anything confirming these dates. I'm not saying OP isn't right, I just wonder where else the info can be found.

I haven't heard anything new anywhere.

It was a "tip" from someone in Moto. That's what it says on Droid Life, at least. I'm guessing it'll push 3 days after the soak, so hopefully that's before the 27th.
No facts on this, just my personal opinion.
