I'd like to know if Android 5.0 has the same restrictions on accessing the sd card as 4.4.2

I'm currently using android v4.4.2 on a samsung galaxy s4. I'm finding it extremely frustrating that if I set the sd card as my photo storage location, I can't delete photos without plugging the phone into a pc. Can someone tell me if this is still the case on Android 5.0 (thinking about buying a new phone) thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Which app are you using to delete the photos from the SD card? Certain file manager apps should be able to, like Total Commander.

But to answer your question, Lollipop does relax those restrictions (although I think it still depends on the developer to code it correctly): Android 5.0 Lollipop changes the way your SD card works — and that's a good thing | Android Central

Thanks for the reply. I see that solid explorer gives me a virtual partition on the sd card which is read writable, but I don't see how I can delete photos and videos from the stock camera using SE.

Have you tried Total Commander? That's my go-to file manager. No frills, gets the job done, no ads.
