If 32GB Nexus 7 is released, what about us 16GB Nexus users?

I have a quick question, I think this is the right place to be asking...

I bought my N7 from Walmart 3 weeks ago, and the return period ended last week. If I were to RMA it, would I have to have to go with a replacement, or just send it in to Google for some sort of a refund? I've never done something like this before, so sorry if it's a noob question.

RMA it? You mean, it has a problem and you need to send it in for repair? Since you didn't buy it directly from the Google Play store, you'd need to contact ASUS, who are stingy as all hell. They'll direct you to their closest repair shop, where you'll send it in and wait about 3 weeks for a repair. If it can't be fixed, they'll send you a new device. If it can, you'll see your device in about a month.

Unless you can exchange it directly at Walmart? My laptop came back from ASUS repair with dead pixels and a janky touchpad. Just sayin'.

My 15 days for Walmart is up. I don't think they'll take it anymore... will they?

I don't mind being without it for a weekend, the issue is the 14% restocking fee, exchanges are ok, but Returns of Open electronics take 14% restocking fee, not really the bigest deal ever, but still a bit inconvenient

Ah, with a restock fee that changes things a bit. Is the 16gb of extra space worth $35 to you? If so, eat the restock fee and go for it. If not, enjoy what you've got and be happy. A quad core, 16gb tablet is still a lot of fondleslab for 250.

Yeah, waiting would have paid off. Such is always the way with all things electronic.

Yeah I know, I am just a bit sad that it is by only 2 days, Apple offer 30days exchange if you the iPad3 in the last month, same did MS with the Xbox, I am really hoping that google do something like that, since 30 will cover me for sure.

Not sure about their return policy. Usually stores have different dates for refunds vs. exchanges, but I'm not sure about Walmart. Either way, you won't be dealing with Google in any way since you didn't buy the device from them. Welcome to ASUS repair hell lol.

Ugh. I've heard so many horror stories of dealing with companies and their repair service. :(

I'm gonna have to baby the hell out of my N7 now... even more than I usually do.

In Australia, when I was buying, the cheapest you could get this tablet for (16GB only) was $320. I looked on the Dick Smiths website today and its now only $270. Some other places have also dropped to $300.

bought my 16gb at game stop. 4 days later i wanted to return it and wait for the 32GB, but their return policy doesn't allow for returns or exchanges on opened tablets... Well, some freindly persuasion and calm demeanor... Got the store manager to take it back i full for store credit, and he will notify me when he gets the 32Gb in. Quality customer service, and for sure made me a return customer. Kudos to the CSR who helped me in store, and thanks... :-) Now to fast forward to next week so I can get a N7 back in my hands... lol

Good Lord. Seriously???

You got to enjoy, and still should be enjoying, a pretty nice tablet. You made the deal for the tablet when you chose to purchase it. The deal is done.

If you want a 32GB Nexus 7, then buy it and sell your current tab. Simple as that.

If the rumor is true that the new 32GB Nexus 7 is priced the same as the 16GB model, what do you think they will do about us? Will they give us a free upgrade or something? More realistically, a gift card?

I bought a 16 GB Nexus 7 from Staples after searching, without success, for a few days on Craigslist for good deals on "like new" stuff. As usual, I got the $25 Google Play credit, $10 Google Wallet credit. Just 2 days after buying the new one, I found an excellent condition, like new nexus 7 on CL for $180 including a Poetic leather smart case. I immediately jumped the gun and purchased that one for $180 and returned the new one to Staples... The $25 Google Play credit and the $10 Google Wallet credit were mine to keep. Google never asked me to return that back...

Why would you feel entitles to a free upgrade?

You were happy enough to buy the 16gb at the given price...

these things happen. at least its only a difference in the amount of storage size. imagine how ipad 3 users are feeling right now...

Is this thread still going? Really? Yeah, I guess so, since I just posted to it. But... really?

For the records, Apple if giving an exchange if you bought the IPad 3 in the last 30 days, In my humble opinion, that is the least, so did Microsoft when they release the slim version of their xbox, it is not an "entitlement", it is just nice thing to do for customer. I don't think they should give everyone who got one a refund or a reward, but those who aquaired the device recently should have the option.

I guess I'll be a hypocrite and post again!

When the 32gb version comes out, it will have been three and a half months since the original Nexus 7 release. This is more than 30 days (I'm pretty sure it is), so someone who thought that nothing better would come along within that time period doesn't know tech and probably wouldn't care about this anyway.

Rumors of a 32gb version have been floating around for more than 30 days, so those who care about these things should have known better and waited. Even without the rumors, a gadget geek (like many of us in this forum) should know better.

If you bought within the last 30 days, many retailers have a 30 day return policy. Google Play Store has a 15 day "buyer's remorse" policy, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were even more flexible now.

To EXPECT that there should be some compensation when nothing has been promised and when no one has been taken advantage of, and when the ONLY difference is the amount of storage without any other enhancements, is an "entitlement" mentality.

There I go again, whining about the whiners.

I disagreed with you, many of us have no time to follow rumors online and we buy products when we need them, as i said, refunding everyone is out of the question, but those who bought it in the last 30days, it is a "nice" thing to do, and not completely crazy to expect since it had been done before by the giants on the same industry, nothing about Entitlement mentality, all we are here is looking for is information to see if they had said something

There is already an existing return plan.

And the 32GB model hasn't been announced.

It is an entitlement mentality.

Return policy cover 14 days

You can find the 32 listed on Office depot website.

It is not even close, just a request for information. You seen to be confusing a question about if there is anything being said about those who bought the device in the last 30 dyas, with a Request or statement that I (or we) deserve an upgrade, those are two very different things
