If 32GB Nexus 7 is released, what about us 16GB Nexus users?

Dang, I wonder if someone will come forward with the claim.

I love how passionate and argumentative people get in threads like this.

I personally love my Nexus 7 16gb, if 32gb was available at launch then I would have bought it but 16gb seems like enough for me especially since all my music is on google music now anyway. That's not to say I didn't find it annoying that google decided to up storage so early on in the products life-cycle.

I totally agree. I love my Nexus 7, but I do feel a little burned because I purposely waited until around Labor Day to buy my Nexus 7 to avoid the "early adopter" issue." Apparently, that wasn't long enough. If a 32gb model had been available, I definitely would have bought that one instead of the 16gb model. I also wanted to wait until I could see and hold it. I wasn't going to order it online sight unseen.

I agree with others who said that we are not entitled to some sort of dispensation from Google. I do remember Apple offering some sort of refund to early adopters of one of the iPhone models a few years back. But they had offered a price reduction within a few weeks (or even less) of that device's original launch. In the Google case, we're talking about another device nearly 4 months after the original model was announced. Even retailers who offer a "price guarantee" don't offer it for more than 30 days...

I thought that Google was shortsighted for offering an 8gb model in the first place. If the Nexus 7 had 3G connectivity, that would be one thing. Without that, however, it doesn't make sense to shoehorn people into the "cloud" with the assumption that they would be streaming most content. Since I need wi-fi for connectivity, I am dependent on apps and downloaded content if my Nexus 7 is to be useful when I don't have wi-fi. It can't have escaped Google's notice that apps have tended to become more complex and memory-intensive over time. Downloading movies and music takes quite a bit of memory, too. If the "holy grail" for these devices is to sell services and content to users, then it doesn't make sense to limit people to a measly 8gb. Google is not making a huge profit on sales of Nexus hardware. Just like Amazon and Apple, they hope to make money by selling apps, books, movies, etc. When people run out of room on their devices, they may delete to make way for new content for awhile, but my guess is that they will soon tire of that and simply stop buying content -- not exactly the result Google wants.

If Google really wants to compete with Apple and Amazon, they should get ahead of the curve by offering a Nexus 7 device not only with more internal memory - 32gb or even 64gb) but also include an expansion slot (Asus Memo, anyone?). And continue to really push to beef up content in the Play Store as they still seriously lag behind Amazon and Apple on that score. I was hoping that the next iteration of the Nexus 7 would not only have more storage, but would also beef up the display and speakers - so it could be a state of the art device that would trump Kindle, Nook, and the coming iPad Mini.

The late Steve Jobs may have been a genius, but he sure did lay an egg when he said people would not want a 7in tablet. ;)

Its great to see people exercising consumer rights. Google is not exempt from complaints. If you're not satisfied with a service you have every right to vent. Android fans are not like apple fans, we don't take from any OEM and if we're screwed over we always make sure to not repeat the same mistake twice. Google should have released 32gb in the first place. Huge games/apps do not go on a cloud, whether the blame falls on Google or app makers is another question. For all the apologists/down voters etc it is acknowledged that tech moves fast, but I can assure you you'd blow you're brains out if a week after they release the 32gb, a 64gb 3g model for the same damn price came out.

It's not a week later it's been 3 months since the original Nexus came out.

If you add the free movie and money we got that would be $45. The Transformers movie, $25 play store credit and $10 Wallet money.

Not everyone got that. The offer ended on the 29th of September.

Regarding the efficacy of the 8gig model, let's not forget that for many tablet purchasers this is their first tablet. As such their usage will be more simplistic than ours (forum members usually represent the top percentiles in sophistication and needs) and 8 gigs is more than enough...

Plus the 8 gig offers a price point that makes a tablet accessible to more..

Then when those folks are ready for their 2nd tablet or have outgrown their 8 gigs, the market for tablets is bigger which means more manufacturers, more competition and more innovation... how is that a bad thing?

Virtual items value is not real and we don't really own it either and many paid the same price and didn't get it. I would have gladly not gotten that and got 32gb storage it has a far greater value. And now our 16gb are worth less to sell now that the 32 is here. Really feeling screwed by Google since you know damn well the 32 was in the pipe and way to close.

I LOVE my nexus 7 but I'm returning it tomorrow (I only got it a week or so ago) and getting store credit ready for the 32gb nexus.

Just hope its out next week in the UK!!

Welcome to the bleeding edge, where supplies are low, demand is high, and obsolescence is measured in days and not months. Compared to any other 16gb tablet currently on the market, mine kicks serious ass, and for 250 bucks it's basically untouchable.

You got a good deal. Next week, there'll be a slightly better deal. This has been true since my first computer, which by the way was a TI99/4A.

The only way to avoid getting cut by the bleeding edge is not to buy there. Not everyone is ready for the constant acceptance that what you paid a premium for last week (and with the nexus 7, it's hardly a premium!) is old news this week.

Still basking in the complete awesomeness of my 16gb nexus 7, an amazing deal for two fifty!

Don't patronize me I'm in the tech business I know how the game is played and will just buy a 32 GB if I want to. The way they are going about it feels deceptive this isn't a device that has been out long. My point is you know they had a 32gb ready to go but milked the market with the current 8 and 16. Mine is just over a month old, I've bought a lot of tech over the years and have never seen a company whore a product and then launch a better version in this short of a time. And at the same price for that matter. That's my point. I know the game but they are playing pretty dirty this time.

Yeah I'm bummed. I mean I bought the 16gb only about a month and a half ago. And already there's a 32gb for the same price as I paid for the 16gb? Its one thing if it was six months ago then that's just the price of tech. But had I known a 32gb was around the corner I definitely would have held off.

How about the iPhone 4S adopters ? Think they're feeling a little abandoned? Nature of the beast. The 16GB does it for me. So I'm happy. So does my 18 month old DROID Bionic.

Sure, you can get the 32GB if you want. What will you do when they release the 64GB version with SD card capabilities and BT 4.0, three months later, for $50 less than you paid for 32GB?

Been in the tech industry for 30 years, and they will *always* release the *next* best thing three days after you bought the *last* best thing.

Your whole post in full of over exaggeration. IPhone 4s has been around for a year now not 3 MONTHS! The biggest PC market that turns over fast is video cards and that is always 6 month or more. Again not 3 months. I'm not buying a 32 GB I just bought my 16 a little over a month ago. I have a 32 GB Xoom also. This gripe is about the way they are handling this. Hell even if I were to sell mine it is now worth what the 8gb was just days ago and 8 GB user... well forget value that model is gonna go fire sale now! The last part of your post is the biggest over exaggeration especially now a days where 98% over the time we know what is coming down the pipe. The real kick in the balls is the time and the fact of the pricing. Can't see how anybody can defend that unless you have a stake in Google stock. I love my N7 and don't sweat too much since I got my Xoom32gb (now basically a nexus device) for 199 bucks but it's still shady.

These are not the days of Altair, Macintosh and no internet!

The ONLY difference is the extra 16GB storage. It's not like after 3 months you get a brand new Nexus 7 with a bunch of additional features. It's the exact same device but with more storage. If you really think that's Google screwing you over because you bought early, I don't know what to say to that. It's not that big a deal.
