I come from iphone so this is difficult for me...I am using listen audiobook since it keeps my books separated from music,,,trying to find a music player that will sync with my mac easily..android transfer does not work..htc phone does not show up in finder when I have it plugged into mac..any
suggestions? I think I am going to put my phone back like new and start fresh (thank God I figured out at least how to save contacts to sim card) otherwise I am loving this phone. Oh and I don't like the htc transfer sync either...

Easy phone tunes will transfer all your iTunes music to the M8. Another option is Google music manager.

Main reasons to keep iPhone:

(1) avoid iMessage issues
(2) heavily invested in Apple services and ecosystem
(3) iCloud
(4) very good camera

Main reasons to switch to M8:

(1) more customization options in Android
(2) more flexible sharing options in Android
(3) great speakers on M8
(4) bigger screen w/ higher resolution
(5) SD card slot

I feel your pain!

I too listen to audiobooks and figuring out how to make it work similar to iPhone took some time. With Listen, you tell the app which folder holds your audiobooks - so that's easy. Create an Audiobooks folder and use it. Transferring files to it is actually pretty easy with HTC Sync Manager. Just drag and drop. If Listen is like Smart Audiobook Player (the one I use) you should create a folder with the author's name. Inside that folder, make another folder with the book title - and put the files there. This can all be done quickly with Sync Manager.

Now, the stock music player will scan and find the audiobook files and include them with your music. To avoid this, I use a folder-based program like Rocket Player where again, you tell the app which folder holds your music. It will scan ONLY that folder. This keeps your books and music seperate like iPhone.

yes that is what I finally did, had to drag every song and book into the 'files' using htc sync manager, I tried everything else but finally got it! now my phone is fantastic, hoping it stays like this... i use nova launcher, if I use their back up do you think I can restore my apps from there if something happens? I have put on and taken off apps about 4 times in a week! hopefully I am finished with that!

Nova won't restore the apps, only the homepage(s) layout. Use HTC or Google backup for the apps. There's nothing as smooth and simple as Apple's backup & restore & sync system for Android, AFAIK.
