If You Knew Then What You Know Now,Would You Still Buy The EVO3D?

Re: If You Knew Then What You Know Now,Would You Still Buy The EV

I would of held out for the iPhone 4S...

In order to buy the iPhone 4S you have to be able to answer NO to the following:

Do you want:
1. A faster 4G/LTE phone?
2. Any size other than small?
3. A real Notification LED?
4. microSD option to add 32GB+?
5. Removeable/Upgradable Battery?
6. HD Video Chat not VGA Chat?
7. LED Display?
8. DLNA for presentations or watch movies on your TV?
9. A full Facebook Sync (photos pop up when they call?)
10. Flash until HTML5 is ratified?
11. NFC to share a song or app
12. Controllable Haptic feedback (vibrate on key-touch)?
13. Full Gmail (Priority Inbox, etc.)?
14. Toggles to turn settings on/off?
15. Widgets to see apps without opening them?
16. Amazon Appstore with the free paid app of the day?
17. Other app stores like GetJar for free paid apps?
19. Notification bar apps like the Weather Channel for temperature?
19. Full Notification control: how often to repeat, vibrate, LED, etc.?
20. 15-Minute free trial on apps?
21. Theming to change your phone into anything?
22. Visual Voicemail with Contact Photos?
23. True hands-free Voice Commands?
24. Turn-by-turn navigation for free?
25. Live Wallpaper?
26. Swype, the keyboard that set the typing records?
27. A Real predictive keyboards like SwiftKey?
28. To connect a Bluetooth Mouse, keyboard, PS3 game controller?
29. To see, delete, rename, or move actual files just like on a PC

I still don't understand why people disregard the EVO 3D because the 3D is gimmicky. I happen to like it and use it quite a bit but if you don't, simply keep the button on 2D and don't use it. It is a great phone without the 3D. Can't say enough how awesome MHL is, which is a feature that is commonly overlooked.

Some of those points aren't generally needed/wanted

You personally have all of those phones?, at the same time?

I can't speak for others but my battery life on my EVO3D is outstanding. Maybe I get about 1 hour less then my nephew's Sammy GS2...that I put on my contract.

I'm not too sure what you are talking about not being able to change backgrounds because I change mine every week.

The default dock may be useless to you, and i can understand that to a point.
But remember what I said in my original posting....with all the videos and reviews that I'm sure you looked at, then I'm sure that you tried the phone out at the store, how was the dock some how a suprise to you? In other words, did you just find out now that the dock was worthless to you now, after you got the phone? (or, like the original post asked "knowing then, what you know now, would you still have gotten the phone?) so you knew that you didn't like the dock back then before you got the phone, yet you bought it anyway...why?

Now I do like the amoled screen of the Samsung phones. But to disregard that the low res screen on such a large phone and the fact that the colors are clearly over saturated (never mind that the blacks may be awesome, but the whites just flat out suck), is to not fully tell the truth about the phone.

touchwiz vs sence...again, I'm not going to go into this because if you don't like sence, yet you bought it anyway, then I don't know what else to say.

As for the iPhone, yes It's powerful, but no more powerful then many of other small Android phones out there. The limits, and the lack of many features found on many of the top Android phones requires me to stand by my reply.

swiped to you in 3D
re : background, I meant change the lockscreen wallpaper independently. Not sure what supports this other than 3rd party lockers though.

I was responding more to your comment on what is out there as an alternative to the evo3d rather than hindsight. Not everyone likes sense, basically. But on that note, I didn't think the limits of sense would bother me, but I was wrong.

I also was disregarding the "low res" but saying it doesn't bother everyone. And it's something some can overlook (but I do agree the colors are over saturated). In the end though, for me, the weight of the evo3d is something that I find the most annoying (which goes the same for the iPhone 4)

As for the iPhone, I was more calling you on saying those that want an iPhone are "simple minded." That sounds like baiting.

No. I am saying the opposite. Different features are important to different people.

If you want ANY of these 29 features, don't get the iPhone 4S.

If an Android were released that lacked all 29 of these basic features, it would have been laughed out of the stores.

Yes I'm a tech addict some say I have more money than sense I tend to agree but I don't drink do drugs or club so I can afford a 73 inch 3d t.v to put in my home I like being home

Re: If You Knew Then What You Know Now,Would You Still Buy The EV

Maybe you should drink or do some drugs once in a while. :)

As far as resolution goes, even on the 4" Nexus S I wasn't in love with the resolution. Maybe if I didn't have the 3D as a reference point I never would have had an issue, but anytime I picked up the 3D it was nice to have such crisp text and other things on the screen. The Pentile screen sure didn't help the NS4G one bit, and being already lower compounded it.

In the end I still don't trust Motorola or Samsung one bit for updates, and as much as I don't care about Sense, you can minimize it with either roms or other apps.

We probably won't see a phone I think is better until spring/summer on Sprint.

Re: If You Knew Then What You Know Now,Would You Still Buy The EV

To answer the OP, yes. I am also a webOS refugee and would have rather had a Pre3, but that was not possible. And now, with CleanROM on my 3D it's a much, much, much better phone than when I unboxed it.

I like the hardware. The phone is very solid and runs very fast. I *love* the screen. Love it. All the buttons work well and phone calls are clear. The external speaker is kinda lousy, but I've gotten over it. The camera is pretty good.

But do I like Android? Eh....it's ok I suppose. Apps are definitely more unstable than what I was used to in the webOS world. But then again, Android has lots more apps that I enjoy than I used to have in my webOS days.

Final answer: Yes.

Lol, I have the. EVO 3D and NS4G and my husband has the EVO 4G. I like them all for different reasons but I prefer my EVO 3D over all of those. Fwiw, I have also tried the SGS2 and iPhone 4s and while they are nice phones I would not trade any of them for my EVO 3D. MHL is awesome! :D

I love my 3vo.

Entered Android works with Samsung moment (mistake!), and jumped to E4G. Loved it, but was disappointed in memory space. Upgrade to 3d was fantastic. Plenty of source for playing, rooted for extra tweaks, and upgraded to 4000mah battery for endless fun.

Can't imagine any phone being better.

After this last update I'm very happy. No more nexus prime talk for me... Atleast for now :D

Yes, even after playing with my wife's brand new ET2 she picked up yesterday. There are some things I like about it better then the 3D but, overall I like the feel of the 3D better.
