If your on AT&T, don't try to force 6.0, I learned the hard way.

Hopefully I can save some people from wasting time and aggravation. I went through the long hard way using Wugfresh to force my Google Play Store Nexus 6 to update to 6.0. Well after all that work there is definitely something different in the radio files. After getting the phone set up on 6.0 (note: you have to revert back to the earliest build of 5.0.1, then with no Sim card ever, you apply the OTA updates one at a time. You will get the OTA for 6.0 in the end.) But after all that and many factory resets, when you put your Sim card in your cell and LTE data signals will be terrible, missed calls, phone doesn't even ring half the time, missed text messages, failed calls dialing out, basically a barely working phone. I proved this is 100% related to forcing the 6.0 update, because tonight I did the whole routine over, but with my AT&T Sim card in and active before even doing the first update. I'm now back on 5.1.1 build LMY48W and my phone is back to working normally. Anyway, I just thought I may be able to prevent others from the frustration and wasted time. I think it's best to just wait for the official AT&T OTA update. The radio problem may be what's taking them longer to get the update out, maybe.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully, it will be quick.

Strange that it is more complicated than just flashing the stock Google images.

Thought about rolling back myself. I'm having issues myself while not as severe as yours. It's almost as if MRA58K isn't configuring itself properly for at&t.

The first odd thing I noticed is that it didn't grab the at&t apps. Most would say that's great, and it kinda is. I find it troubling because the nexus 6 is supposed to grab the carrier apps branded or unlocked and mine never did.

MMS is also flaky specially on my Mircrocell. I never had that issue before.

I can't remember what it's called but there is a service that runs on the phone that is supposed to enhance or improve group text and other features. I can't find that process but I remember it on Lollipop. For the life of me I can't remember what it's called though lol. I used to notice it on battery usage stats.

I have a N6 that's not carrier locked with AT&T SIM.

2 days ago I used NRT and flashed Android 6 to it for a clean install.

Works fine....even faster now because i flashed it without encryption.

Google restored all of my apps automatically. All i had to do afterward was to log in to the apps. I had my photos backed up with google Photos already. The process lets you back anything else up before you unlock and flash.

I don't use the phone a lot but it has worked so far perfectly and i'm in a rural area. i don't know of any issues with my signal or getting texts.

On 5.1.1 I had missed calls that didn't ring on the phone on at least one day at a different home in a different rural area.

Because I'm not a heavy phone user, i can't promise anything, but FLASHING the factory image of 6.0 worked great for me on NRT....
and i am a newbie at flashing.

If I were to have received the OTA from LMY48W, I would still have done a factory reset because hardware likes clean installs rather than upgrades. I did the same with my windows 10 upgrade.

And the option of installing without the encryption was a big plus to going this way.

So i don't understand why you want to take all those steps to force the OTA update when flashing can be so simple. You are evaluating a phone that has received multiple updates on top of updates rather than a clean install of the new OS.

I followed the instructions here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/113329792100896065459/posts/93WR63UHuEp

note that the NRT has various steps and some of them can take some time...so just be patient and wait for the scripts to complete. I followed every step, from the driver install process, to the backup, unlocking, flashing, etc.

The toolkit shows you what you are flashing. It allows you to choose the build. So far all accounts say that every phone will be on the same build for marshmallow.

Lmao at all the speculation and lack of facts in this thread. Your problem is using a toolkit and not knowing what the hell was flashed to your device. I'm on AT&T and have been on 6.0 for weeks with none of the problems you're describing.

NRT is not your average toolkit... It explains every step it runs through. Awesome tool. I have no problem recommending it to new flashers as it's as close to an interactive tutorial on how to flash and maintain your Nexus as you'll come across.

That being said, NRT is also very thorough in how it goes about doing its job. I'm fairly confident it flashed the right stuff in every case. But never make the mistake of assuming everyone else has the same expiriences as you. For all we know, maybe there is a little bit of an issue with AT&T's network and the stuff in 6.0... I wouldn't dismiss it right off just because you've had zero problems.

Right but for all you know and maybe are words used when you have no idea. Which is what the toolkit hides. Recommending it is fine. But somewhere along the line this user screwed up and is making statements that no other AT&T user is making who is on 6.0.

I remembered what it was that is missing or I can't find on my N6 with 6.0. RCS or Rich Communications Suite/Services. I understand it's something applied or used by the carrier to enable certain features. at&t uses it anyways. It was installed on my Nexus 6 with Lollipop. I remember asking about it because it started chewing through my battery. Anyways, my apn is properly setup but for some reason with 6.0 I'm not getting RCS along with the Carrier apps. BTW the nexus 6 is supposed to apply the carrier apps and customization's after a factory reset based on your sim. 6.0 on my nexus 6 doesn't. My phone doesn't grab the Carrier customization's like it did before on Lollipop.

A discussion on reddit below about the battery issue I noticed.

I have used Wugfresh before. It's not a bad toolkit. Who knows what went wrong? It could have been a bad file download or even a bad flash. I have had that happen using Terminal commands on Linux.

Meh for what's it worth. I've flashed both using the image directly from google and wugfresh with the same results. I'm pretty certain my MMS issue on the microcell is because of RCS going AWOL.
