I.... They apologized and whatever, but they seemed as if they didn't care.

Of course they didn't care. Why would they?

They're 8 & 10 years old and their own mother is teaching them that whatever the results of their actions it's not their responsibility. I'm sure they're going to grow up into fine young adults.

Why should they be responsible? The taxpayers will always be around to bail out their underwater mortgage, forgive their student loan, pay for their heathcare...
