I'm getting terrible battery life

There are rumors that the new G4 will sport the 808 Rumors..... I know
I'm really intrigued by what the G4 may offer. I'm eligible for an upgrade and assumed I would simply be upgrading to an M9. But I'm not impressed and am waiting to see how the S6 and G4 fare once people have had an opportunity to really put them through their paces.

I had htc phones for a long time M7 being my last. I wanted a change and my daughters G2 was sold do I grabbed the G3.

Great phone that turned awesome with root. Now this is the first Samsung I've ever liked, looks like a great design but in my opinion I'd be foolish not to give the G4 a shot first

So let me get this straight. The SoT metric is measuring how long the screen has been on?
Doesn't a screensaver kick in automatically to conserve battery power? Or are people disabling it as a way to benchmark how long the battery will drive the screen? Thanks.

My thoughts exactly. Early reports suggest it could have a better screen and camera the S6, and it looks like LG made a wiser processor choice than HTC. If it also has an SD slot, it becomes a no-brainer for me. A lot of "ifs". We'll have to see what they actually deliver. Regardless, I'll let all three of these phones sit in the hands of the early adopters for a few weeks before making my decision

No, not necessarily. SoT is really just a measure of the total amount of time you've had the screen on. So when someone says they are getting 3 hours of SoT, its not that they've kept the screen on for 3 straight hours. Its just that they've had the screen on for 3 total hours.

For example:

Browse the web for 20 minutes
Watch a movie for 1 hour
Game for 30 minutes

There can be gaps in each of those uses of the screen where the screen is off, but the total SoT there would be 1 hour 50 minutes.

Is the battery life worse than the 2014 Moto X? That would be the perfect phone IMO if I didn't have to charge it 2-3 times a day with moderate use. That's with everything set up properly. I was thinking of upgrading to the S6 but now I'm worried.

No, it's a lot better, but not in Phablet's league or Xperia Z3 which have bigger batteries and just 1080p displays.

Look for my posts and you'll have a better picture, and yes, I also had a Moto X, worst battery life of all my past 7 phones in the past year.

My AT&T version has the Wi-Fi issue. It got up to 100% around midnight on the Samsung wireless charger and then stopped charging. At 6:15 I am at 76% with virtually all of it WiFi active according to GSam. At this rate, it will be going back before my 14 days are up

You should take a look at the thread I created about Tips and Tricks (look for it at this forum or look on my user's posts) and follow some or all my suggestions, beginning with Wiping the cache in recovery Mode, and if after a day or so it won't get better then get a replacement.

I'm getting over 5.5 hours of Screen On Time, and I unplugged mine yesterday at 8:30am going for 28 hours already with 4 hours of SoT and I'm at still at 20% battery, last night I didn't charge it and when I went to sleep it was at 54%, today I woke up at 51%, so it just drained 3% overnight with all my accounts syncing as normal.

I've been texting, checking Email, playing a few games and phone calls. I'm very pleased with battery life. On Verizon
