I've had my S8 for a couple of weeks now. There have been a couple of instances where someone sent me an image in the messaging app, but the image is blurry. When I try to click on it, I get a message that say's that the image hasn't been downloaded. I see no way to download the image.

Whats going on? I've never had this issue with previous version of Samsung Galaxy phones.

Thanks

Daryl

Wierd that it only happens occasionally. Wish I could help. I'm assuming you're talking about the Samsung message app that comes as default?

My recommendation to you is to download another messaging app - like Textra - and seeing if the picture/MMS issue still persists in that app.

Sounds like Textra is a preferred option. I wasn't happy with the default app, so I'll give Textra a try and see if this issue persists.

I've been using Textra for years (and upgraded to the Pro version - that's how much I liked it; and I usually don't pay for things on Google Play haha); and have not been disappointed. Give it a try and see if that fixes anything for you!

My mom had the same issue with her S8 and in order to fix the issue she had to turn off chat messaging. Go into your messaging settings>chat settings>default message type and you'll see where you can switch to SMS/MMS messaging instead of using chat messaging. Hope this helps

I had this problem as soon as I updated my Samsung Galaxy S8 (GS8) to the Android Oreo operating system.

I tried a whole bunch of suggestions and I did these 3 easy things which fixed it for me:

#1 - Enabled auto-download
Step 1: Open android Messaging app in your Oreo devices
Step 2: Tap on three vertical dots at top right corner
Step 3: Select Settings
Step 4: Tap on Advanced
Step 5: Enable auto-download MMS if disable
(mine was enabled, but this is important to check)

-then-

#2 - Clear cache and data for mms services
Step 1: Go to settings in your Oreo devices
Step 2: Tap on apps & notifications
Step 3: Choose "All Apps" from drop down menu
Step 4: Tap on menu (3 dots) in top right corner
Step 5: Tap on show system apps
Step 6: Find "MmsService" and tap on it
Step 7: Tap on storage
Step 8: Tap on "clear cache" and then after that "clear data" (you don't lose any messages)

-then-

#3 - Restart phone

Hope that works for you as well as it did for me!
