In US....Who will get Nexus near launch and why??

I honestly have no idea who would get the LG nexus. TMobile hasn't gotten a Nexus since the NexusS. Sprint gets them but always 6 months later. Verizon got the Galaxy Nexus but I just have a feeling they wont be getting another one. (I don't know why I think that) Lastly...ATT has NEVER gotten a Nexus device.

Who do you guys think will get the Nexus and why??

i said ATT based on the fact that is has GSM / HSPA+ radios in it. Sprint and VZW are both CDMA. T mobile could be another option

It's a good question. Given there hasn't been any evidence of a LTE handset out there yet, I'm not going to expect any U.S. carrier announcement at launch. While a lack of solid rumor doesn't necessarily mean it won't happen, I just think we would have heard about a hint of it by now.

Although it would not surprise me if it landed on AT&T or T-Mobile first. As much as I would love another Verizon Nexus, I'm just not sure it's going to happen this year. Google may not want to stomach any more concessions to Verizon's demands even if they do have the largest LTE network.

I doubt Google wants to deal with carriers if they don't have to. It will probably be in the play store with pentaband HSPA+ first. To get on Verizon and sprint they will need to be carrier specific phones, which is harder to do with carrier certification. They might strike a deal with att to get att lte. Although with the mdm9215 as long as lg can tailor their radios and transceiver antennas to att 700 band or aws lte for future att and T-Mobile lte bands that would be awesome for me.

My guess is Verizon will be the first with it. They were the first officially with the Galaxy Nexus and Sprint only got that roughly 6 months ago, so I don't seem them bringing out another until that has a little more time to fade off. Plus they are getting the Optimus G device so it'll be close in specs and look to that device.

I would think first we will see the unlocked version though. At least that is what I am hoping for.

Sadly I'm pretty much stuck with Verizon. I'm a little weary about an LG phone, they just seem cheap and sub-par compared to other manufacturers. Anyways, if it comes to Verizon I will really think about getting one.

On Sprint availability: For the Nexus S, Google had to develop a Wimax variant, so that took a while. For the GalNex, there were two reasons for the delay: the Verizon exclusive, and Sprint's lack of an LTE network. Hopefully neither of those will apply this time.

On the other hand, its been a while and still no LTE Nexus 7...

If Google is serious about getting the Nexus brand to the masses, they'll deal with carriers.

I can't see any carrier launching the Nexus without LTE (does T-Mobile count? ).

For Verizon or Sprint it would need a new radio anyway for CDMA. Every new phone on those carriers includes LTE. I would assume they would reuse the radio setup from the Sprint Optimus G.

The fact that the CDMA/LTE customization has already been done for the Optimus G hopefully will facilitate a quicker launch on Sprint.
