OK so ever since the GB update I have been experiencing random Sense UI crashes. I notice it the most with the bookmarks widget so I have removed that for now, but I am still having it happen a few times daily.

I have performed a factory reset and have reloaded my settings etc. I am not rooted and am running totally stock. I had zero issues before the update so I believe my hardware is fine.

I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on this. Are you experiencing this and do you know how to fix it?

Thank you for your help and advice

I'm not experiencing anything. Can you be more specific on what is happening when it crashes. Is the phone locking up?

I am usually on a home screen or a sense ui widget. An error message will flash on the screen briefly. It happens fast enough that I don't have the exact wording, but it eludes to Sense having a problem and needs to restart. The screen then goes white with the HTC logo and approximately 5 seconds later everything comes back to the normal home screen.

I have noticed that now that I have removed the HTC bookmarks widget it happens much less frequently.

To add more information. I was just using friend stream and it did it again. The error was basically Sense will force close etc etc.

I guess to recap I have been using this phone for almost a month now and had not had one force close until after I got the GB update. I imagine there is no way to roll back to Froyo is there?

Anybody else experiencing these issues?

I am currently running a stock sense theme (slate) however I am running a live wallpaper installed from the market. I ran it before the update just fine but I will change it to a standard image to see if it makes a difference.

I have had the same issues as you have stated. I also run everything stock and since the GB update I have had nothing but problems with this phone. I removed the bookmarks widget and I haven't had anymore FC with sense, but haven't found a way to fix it yet.

Thank you for your reply. I was beginning to think it was just me. I had zero issues before the update. I hope they fix it soon it is extremely annoying.

I have exactly the same problem, after the update the bookmarks widget would FC Sense every time i went to the home screen it was on. After removing that widget things got better but I still get a random FC on sense every day. I feel better that I know I'm not alone.

I have noticed it is both the bookmarks and friend stream widgets that seem to be causing the most problems. Since I have disabled and have been staying away from both things have been better.

Ok not to beat a dead horse here but these random force closes of sense ui are really starting to irritate me. I have tried different launchers but I really like sense (I know I am probably one of the few) that is one of the reasons I bought this phone.

I am new to Android so can anyone tell me what is the average turn around cycle for HTC to put out a patch to fix these problems?

Have you called HTC tech support? The fastest way to get an issue resolved is to place a call to HTC and report your problem. The more people who call the more likely the issue will get a patch. Otherwise, it's hard to say when or if it will get a patch because HTC will consider it an isolated issue.

Yes that is a good idea. I have just emailed them with a detailed description of the problem.

Please post any reply from HTC.

I am going out of my mind with all the problems this upgrade has caused. I did not have a single issue before, and now I have nothing but problems---Sense force closes all the time, apps and widgets disappear randomly, my google calendar won't sync and my local calendar disappeared, as of this weekend I can no longer install anything from the market. I am very frustrated and a little heart-broken at this point.

Don't mean to vent all my troubles in your thread, but I do feel your pain.

No problem I will absolutely post their response if any.
Below is the email response I have received from HTC. I am currently attempting their recommendations, but I would have thought the factory reset would have accomplished the same thing... In either case I will report back after I see if this corrects any of my problems.

"Thank you for your email regarding bookmarks, Friend Stream, and HTC Sense issues following the software upgrade to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on your HTC Incredible 2 device from Verizon Wireless.

Xxxxx, I recommend you check the amount of data the various applications on your device are storing. Please press Home > MENU, tap Settings > Applications > Manage applications, press MENU, and tap "Sort by size." The applications at the top store the most data. If any application other than Mail stores more than 10 KB, you should investigate the properties of that application with a view to clearing the data if you do not need it. I recommend you also scroll to the Friend Stream application and tap "Clear cache" and "Clear data." In addition, scroll to the HTC Sense application and tap "Clear cache" and "Clear data." You will not want to clear the data of your Internet Browser at this time, as you would lose all your bookmarks.

Please check the free memory on your phone. Press Start > MENU and then tap Settings > SD & phone storage and evaluate the free memory in Internal Storage. If this figure is low, you should delete some applications or move them to your storage card.

Your device may also have too many temporary Internet files occupying its memory. Please also open your Browser, press MENU, tap More > Settings, and then scroll to and select the following four options:

Clear all cookie data
Clear cache
Clear history
Clear form data

After clearing all four options, please soft reset your phone by powering it off, removing the battery, waiting ten seconds, and then reinserting the battery and restarting the device.

If your device continues to experience force closing of applications, please include in your response the text of any error messages that may appear. I also respectfully recommend you contact your carrier for additional assistance. In addition, I have forwarded your email to the appropriate department."

Well I was going to give it a day but I followed their instructions to the letter and as soon as I re-added the bookmarks widget Sense crashed and restarted.

RainMan, Thanks for posting the reply from HTC.

I tried most of their suggestions already and they hadn't worked. I tried clearing Sense data and got very frustrated when my home screens all disappeared (duh).

I called htc at this point. After trying a few things that didn't work, we---the very helpful Barbara and I---did a factory reset. I know you said you already tried this, but if you call htc and work through the problem with them you will get a ticket number. With the ticket number you will have a trail of everything you have done to work with them to fix it. This will be important if you continue to have problems and need to have something done under the warranty provisions. You also don't have to re-explain it to every person you talk to at HTC. It might be worth a call just to establish when the problem started. Sorry I don't have any real solution to offer.

If you are interested in calling. I used this number which connected me directly to tech support. I found it on this forum a while back, and kept it just in case. 866-449-8358

My apps are still downloading from the market, but I am hoping this fixed all/some of my problems. I will write back if Sense continues to force close and delete my widgets.

Yellowsun how is your phone? Any better or still the same problems?

Much better since the reset. I don't want to jinx it, but Sense hasn't force closed once since this morning.

I thought you might be interested to know that I spoke to someone who was having some similar issues. He was having so many force closes that the phone was basically useless. He said that since he stopped using the bookmarks and friend stream widgets, and did a factory reset, everything has been fine.
It is one anecdotal account, but I thought you would like to know that it's not just your phone.
