[INFO] Nexus 4 with t-mobile

I've been with AT&T for almost 7 years and the only reason I stayed was because I was grandfathered into the unlimited plan. But paying $90 a month is ridiculous. Switching to this plan and using Groove IP will save me roughly $50 a month. Yay more booze money.

I'm battling this myself. But I travel a lot and am worried that T-Mobile will not give me the coverage as AT&T. I have grandfathered unlimited as well AND I have a 24% corporate discount. So I can keep the two family plan phones on and keep paying my $120/month before taxes (I think I can get it down to $110/month by switching from the 700 minute to the 550 minute plan). At $110 vs. $90, it's $20/month. And with Straight Talk, you can't roam the same way you can on AT&T's regular plans from what I'm reading. Unfortunately, I sometimes have to travel to the middle of nowhere. The good news is that I also get $50/month from work for cell phone usage. I probably should stop complaining and just stay on AT&T with the Nexus 4.

That would mean I should probably buy some phone on contract to just sell as long as I'm going to stay on. What's the best phone to buy and resell? :-)

For those with an existing contract with T-Mobile, would I still need to pay an activation fee to active the new SIM card?
(I'm not familiar with T-Mobile's normal policies)

I'm really excited about this phone, Im putting my 9900 BB up for sale just to get it.
So just to summarize.
$349 for the 16gb.
$15 roughly for shipping. (Im in California, so who knows what it will be for us)
$1+$30 for new SIM/Activation.
So basically 400 bucks all said and done, yes?
Well the cost of the phone is the cost of the phone. But if you already have a prepaid plan with T-mobile, including the $30 5GB plan, you can move it over to a new Micro-SIM card. At least that's what I was told by the T-mobile rep on their forum. That's different from activating a new plan, though.

Don't forget sales tax when factoring price, folks. I live in Arizona and I got charged 9.3% sales tax when I bought my Galaxy Nexus a couple months back. Basically, any state Google has a physical presence (I guess they have a call center in AZ or something) gets nabbed for tax.

I'm almost kicking myself for not waiting a couple more months for the Nexus 4, but oh well. I needed a new smartphone and my interim T-Mobile dumbphone was driving me nuts. :P I wonder how much a lightly used G-Nex is worth these days...$250 maybe?

Heh. But don't you guys pay high property tax?

Gotta pay somewhere but after my time abroad/other states in the military going to the dollar menu with a dollar is priceless

1am, huh? Ugh, fun times indeed! Glad you got them though!

Your G-1 first look video today was great! I love that you can add Folders to the Home screen and put stuff in it like your games. Sweet!

Creates a lot of jobs, not good ones but jobs none the less.

I feel you haha, I'm still sporting an LG Optimus V with Virgin Mobile. This is going to be a wonderful upgrade and it's going to save me $5 a month as well. :3

I have the same phone. The internet on Vmobile is garbage. I don't even think it can be considered 3g.

Word. That's exactly why I'm making sure I get this darn phone.

Going to be very annoyed if Google opens up sales at 3AM and end up selling out to west coasters by the time I wake up.

I doubt they sell out. It dont matter anyways, i dont want the first batch. I want to read reviews first since they ahve been so mixed with the unfinished OS. I also may wait to hear if a 32GB version will be coming.

I'm already on a contract with T-mobile, I called twice asking if I could transfer my HTC Sensation 4G SIM card to a Micro SIM for the Nexus 4 while continuing to the end of my current contract. They were not very clear in answering, they pretty much said yes to everything I was asking, but I don't think they understood what my question was (one lady kept calling the Micro SIM a Micro SD).

So I would to like be clear. Can I have my Sensation 4G SIM card with my current contract switched to a Micro SIM that I can put into a new Nexus 4 and continue to the end of my contract? After the contract ends I will go on to the Monthly 4G plan. Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet is to invest in a SIM cutter and just cut your sim card to fit. Don't forget as well, if you already have a plan , you cannot just go to the 30 dollar monthly deal. You would have to basically cancel your account and open a new one, which will force you to lose your number. Best workaround for that is to port your number to google voice for 20 bucks and set call forwarding from that to your new cell number.

YES. Just go in and have them give you another one. Ive never had a problem with that. At the very worst they may charge you $10 for a micro Sim but i doubt it.

A colleague of mine has done this 3 times. They have 3 different SKUs for SIM replacement, just keep telling the store clerk to select the $0 one. :D
