Initial Impressions of OTA .246

What do I need to do to see if I am 1.0 or 1.2 ghz? DL an app? Which one? Or is it something already on my phone?

It's been working great for me so far. None of the data drops I was getting previously. Had to reinstall Flash, which wasn't that big of a pain.

Otherwise...

Haven't had the headphone whine issue, at least not thru the aux in my car. Also no audio issues with YouTube, Netflix, Play Music. Sorry to all who are having trouble, just wanted to say I haven't had issues yet so they may not be universal

I had no idea that the update would remove Flash. I thought Flash supported up to 4.0. What if you're not rooted? I can still get Flash, right?

Installable from Play Store - All Apps after selecting My Apps from the menu.

Flash is not going to be preinstalled in any FW updates to ICS because it's unsupported software. Adobe does not support it. Why would the OEMs put something that is unsupported and can be a security or stability risk in their device firmwares. There is hardly any reason for the average joe to use flash these days anyways, on a smartphone.

Does anyone have a link to a rooting tool that works with the current ICS 246 build?
I am loving the ICS update and I think it's great you can disable bloatware!

Your car stereo works like an inline volume attenuator. If you have the whine it is likely being masked by that.

Go to Manage Apps > All > then for each bloatware, go into it and uninstall updates (if applicable), then you'll get the option to fully disable it. If you ever need them enabled again, they will be listed at the very bottom of the All tab.

My wife complained this morning from her car during our first post-update car call, that since the update, the brilliant minds that worked over the UX have provided us all with smaller screen elements when the phone is in the car dock. She couldn't see where to click due to the "shrinkage". thanks a bunch for the steps backwards. I am NOT liking this update much.

Didn't we used to be able to sync twitter with our contact list?

Also noticed an issue with Google Plus hangouts. There's a lot of crackling in the sound. Wasn't there on GB. Anyone else?

Update: Still feel very positive about the ICS update - I guess I have been lucky that I experienced zero issues with the upgrade and subsequent operation. I have a pretty basic config, though, and not a whole lot of apps installed outside of the essentials. I will echo what others have said in that battery life appears to be (much) worse, but I'm not yet sure if that's a function of me using the phone more since the update, or the up-clock of the processor and better usage of both cores. I have noticed the phone gets very warm during what I would consider normal usage now, and it did not do this when running GB (though see previous comment about using the phone more). Two thumbs-up!

Still digging the update. Have noticed the occasional lag but overall less problems than I used to have. Also Webtop 3.0 looks promising in the 10 min I spent on it
