Initial Impressions of the HTC 10

That's it, I switched to a 6S Plus from an M8 and from an M7 before that. This phone has made me change my mind, selling the iPhone and buying this.

I must admit, I'm very curious about this release, unlike the 8 & 9. I switched to HTC M7 from the iPhone in 2013. was an apple fan boy from 2007, to 2013. Man, was I stoked, to have finally grown up, and got my first Android phone, and it was the M7 that started my great ride.

With that said, I left the M7 for the Samsung Note 3 when if first came out, and have never looked back, now with the Note 5. But....BUT, I'll admit, that my curiosity with their latest flagship, has got me itching to get to the store and play with it! We shall see!

At this point, HTC is seriously tempting me.

I'm still holding on for the Galaxy Note 6, but man. After looking at this, I think HTC has delivered.

Let's see if all those happy forum replies translate to sales. Because they really need that.

Why did I keep reading the price is $999 when on the site it's $699? Was that an early estimate? My M8 is dying on me and I would like to get this as a replacement.

Re: The HTC 10 is official - Initial impressions

The past year or so I've been looking for a replacement for m my Nexus 4 (personal) and S4 (business).

I replaced my Nexus 4 with the 6p and couldn't be happier. I'll be replacing the S4 with the 10.

It's definitely exceeded my expectations. Hopefully the camera software matches the hardware. HTC really did a great job with this ... can't wait to get it.

That may be the Canadian price. It is definitely not the US price.

To echo D13H4RD2L1V3, it comes down to brand recognition for me. I don't think the HTC brand carries enough weight to be nearly the same price as the S7 (or the iPhone 6S).

True... it doesn't have the name, but it certainly looks the part. I haven't held on in my hand, but in the pics, it certainly doesn't look like a cheapo phone.

As much as I'm initially impressed by the HTC 10, I'm also extremely disappointed that it's exclusive to Bell in Canada and it's ludicrous outright price of $999. Like WTF HTC!? Heck even the M7 and M8 were available on all major Canadian carriers. I was so looking forward to upgrading to the 10 from my M8. What a damn shame. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but I feel like I have no other choice but to cross off the HTC 10 from my next smartphone upgrade options list. :'( Now my list only has one option, the Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge which is probably the first Samsung Galaxy smartphone to actually make me want to get one.

Re: The HTC 10 is official - Initial impressions

It looks nice, but I'm not interested in purchasing it. It doesn't have any features that I want in a phone, such as an AMOLED screen, IP68 rating, wireless charging, or Samsung Pay. And I really don't like those chamfered edges. But worst of all, it's an HTC phone. HTC has a history of delivering less-than-desirable devices to the public.

They're gonna need sales from non-forum posters. :)

I like the simple clock/weather widget on this phone. Is that an HTC exclusive or is it available for download somewhere?

I have a buddy who went iphone but he has been missing Android, and I am pretty sure the HTC 10 is the phone that's going to bring him back.

I'll also be switching as long as battery life is on par (with my Exynos S7) and the camera is noticeably better than the S7 in all aspects.

I think battery life could be somewhere between regular S7 and S7 edge. But I don't expect much on display and camera to surpass S7 though camera might come close.

As long as HTC can make enough money to continue operations I am ok with them being a niche/boutique OEM. They are never going to compete with the likes of Samsung and LG. They are huge conglomerates that have dozens of other income streams to off set and losses in their mobile divisions.

HTC has been really cozy with the Google lately with the the 10 software and rumor of them producing the next three Nexus devices. I would not be surprised if Google snatched them up - stranger things have happened...

I like it to. I dwonloaded the Sense V2 flip clock from the play store and I think that is the one.

THIS is the HTC that I know and love. The main issue with this phone, which is a masterpiece, is that I don't think it's $200 better than the Nexus 6P unfortunately (or maybe not better at all). But that's the world we live in. So many great $300-$500 phones now. The ones above $600 you have to REALLY like more to pay the extra money.

This phone is just oozes quality. Unfortunately, I can't get one as any of these ultra high end phones don't give you good value for the dollar IMO. Now if this was in the $500 range, I would possibly bite. If it was a Nexus and $500, I'd definitely bite.

Re: The HTC 10 is official - Initial impressions

Did any body else notice this...I've only seen two videos of the HTC M10 but one thing that jumped out was that the Sense 8.0 home screen looked a bit slow compared to the LG UX5.0 home screen. When I was watching android central videos of the Sense 8.0 when the reporter was coming in an out of menus it don't look as fast as LG G5 UX 5.0. Don't get me wrong I'm typing this on a HTC One M8 and love my phone but noticing a slight difference in menu loading speed has me a little worried how the M10 might be reviewed when it it officially released..especially considering the price...

Absolutely love this phone! Had Legend and a One X, but opted for the Nexus 5 and 6p after that.
If this would have been out a few months earliers I would've been tempted. I think I'll always have a weak spot for HTC, I just like the brand and designs they put out.

That said, I am often unpleasently surprised by their choices. No silver/black version for Europe? Come on HTC, that's the classic HTC look!
Oh well, my 6p isn't going anywhere soon :)
