Initial Thoughts on Evo 3D - Post Them Here!

I have been trying to drain my battery all day and it is still at 50% even with calls, web surfing, 2D/3D video watching and just playing the heck out of it. I want to do another full charge. I'm am so amazed by this phone, that my BlackBerry is feeling so lonely.

Flat out this thing blows the Evo 4G out of the water in every fathomable way. This thing is nothing short of amazing. I'm actually VERY surprised at the 3D too. The quality of the pictures and videos taken by the phone isn't as good quality as some other 3D stuff taken. Example some stuff on Youtube, 3D movies n such. Those absolutely blow my mind. Overall I'm very impressed and happy with the 3D aspect. Outside of that, sweet jesus. It's insanely fast. I've yet to experience anything that came close to resembling lag. It's unbelievable. And Sense 3.0 is incredible.

First off, I'm absolutely in love with my Evo 3D. Its so fast, it makes my head spin...and I'm coming from an Evo 4G. That said...a couple of things annoy me:

1. Good on Sprint for allowing us to remove their bloatware. BUT, I still can't remove any HTC bloatware like the Green Hornet, Footsteps, Mirror, etc.

2. Flashlight app is missing...I downloaded the apk elsewhere, works fine.

3. I thought I'd like the spinning carousel of homescreens, turns out I don't. It adds zero value and I often end up spinning when I intend to swipe to the adjacent screen.

4. I miss my kickstand and I don't like that the charger plugs into the side rather than the bottom, but what can you do...

5. I like that there's a hardware camera button, but I constantly feel the cheap, plasticy wiggle of the toggle switch whenever I hold/unlock the phone:( I'd also like to be able to access the camera while locked by simply pressing the hardware button.

All things considered, I am still enormously happy with the device and feel sorry for those who don't have one;)

I have had it a few days and must say.... WOW!!! It's fast and smooth! The 3d took me a little while to get used to it but now I love it and use it constantly!

I love my Evo 3d, super fast, battery is not bad, 3d is kinda cool, took some videos of my sons baseball game and they are amazing. Really is a huge upgrade from the 4g. I'm my opinion it's the best android phone currently available. Period.

I have had the EVO 3D since Friday. My battery was at half when purchased I drained it down to 3% then charged it from 8pm Friday night to 5:35am Saturday morning. That was my first intial charge my phone lasted from 5:35am Saturday to 7:22pm Saturday evening when i reached 15% then I turned on the power saver mode on the device for another 90mins down to 9%. With this kind of battery life and battery management on this device it has to be the best in the industry. There never was a day when i had my evo 4g that I can ever leave out the house without my charger and 2batteries. For this and the fact that you can uninstall bloatware alone has to make this device the best on the market. I am a proud Evo 3D owner:)

What about the reduced screen size of the keyboards such as swype?
They are much smaller on the 3d vs. The eve 4g.
I am assuming it is because of the different resolution.
Is there any solution for this?
I am finding it much harder to type on the 3d keyboards!!

Got mine the day b4 launch... don't ask....
I love the phone, for those who think the 3D is a gimmick, shame on you!! The 3D is pretty amazing!! I can't stop taking pointless pictures of everything, although, I have tried and I can't send the 3D pics, it says unsupported format, so you'll have to enjoy them yourself, (unless I missed something). But for a handheld device it is pretty impressive.

Sense 3.0 - This is a HUGE improvement over the previous version on my OG Evo, I had installed the SPB shell before but I think I'll skip it this time, the new Sense is pretty awesome, the HTC hub also has some pretty cool features and add-ons for sense, but, it needs more input and more content, it's very limited at this point.

The hardware itself is wicked fast and while trying every app and function at the same time couldn't slow it down. Still testing the battery life but in all fairness I've had it on and been using it so much I can't give it a fair assessment yet. I do use Juice defender so I'm sure it does help a lot.

Gripes - The speaker is in a poor location and is not very loud, I think the earpiece is fine for conversations, I've turned mine to about half power or it will blow my ear out, but the speaker on the rear is in a bad spot and isn't loud enough when listening to music or especially movies.

Back cover - kind of a pain to remove, granted you wont take it off very often but if you do you'll be calling it names.....

Wake/sleep button - overly sensitive, definitely not like the OG Evo, I've already pulled it out of my pocket many times to find it turned on....

This is my "quick" review after 2 days with the 3D, overall, I think it's an excellent phone with many many great features and I don't regret trading "up" from my OG Evo :)

got mine yesterday. my Bf surprised me with it & it is SO SMOOTH!. HTC HUB is so great. i love that you can download 'Sound Sets' and download more 'Skins' instead of the default ones. i upgraded form a Hero & to go from that to an EVO 3D! amazing!
Also taking 3D pictures are fantastic... and beautiful. I love this phone! :D:D:D:D

I'm thinking about the purchase but would love to hear from some real consumers what their thoughts are..

Ok This is my 4th Android Phone and the one I love the most. 3D is call and all but after playing with this thing I would have bought it just for how damn smooth it is. My mom just got the EVO 4G and I can say that the 3D is by far a better phone.

I loved my OG Evo and I love the Evo 3D even more. Sense 3.0 is the truth. HTC did it's thing. I used the 3D a few times but that's just an added bonus. The phone is nice.

Here is my 2 cents.
I had high hopes for this EVO.
I think after the last update for the EVO 4G, things got a bit buggy on that phone. I couldnt wait for the 3D model.
As soon as the guy at Best Buy handed it to me, I was a bit disappointed.
I didnt know they were making the screen resolution make the text and the keyboard smaller. It feels like I am holding a HTC Incredible. I have Fred Flintstone fingers, I love the EVO 4G because the size of the keyboard etc.
Now I am hitting the wrong keys.
Other things that bother me are they took away the arrow keys on the keyboard (the ones where you move the cursor).
No flashlight app (WHY?).
The calculator numbers look goofy. At least give us the option to make them look normal. And they still didnt give us a % key on the calculator (no, turning it sideways doesnt have it either).
I am not crazy about the side charger.
On the plus size, I love the reworked HTC Sence. Nice job. There are so many cool features theres too many to list. I love the builtin task killer too!
3D, I could take it or leave it.
For me, I would like to see HTC update the EVO 4G with this version of sence. Then I would be happy.
This new EVO reminds me of the day I got my iPhone 4. I had every version before that, but the 4 was a let down. Thats when I went to Android.
I did check out the EVO View and love that. I wish that could make calls.
