How do you get a hold of a tech after 11pm? I called at 11:30, 12:00, etc. and I enter my number in but it doesn't give me any option to talk with anyone. It only gives me like 3 options: press #1 if your phone has been stolen, and so on. But it says call back our hours are 6am-11pm. What # are you calling and what prompts are you going through?

I call 611 from my phone and one of the options is technical support. They ask what phone do I need technical support and I put in my mother's number. If you use your number, they will send you a text with a 1-800 number to call back on because they want you to call from a different phone than the one you are having trouble with. If you input that you are having trouble making/receiving phone calls, they have 24 hour support for that. But once you get someone on the line, you can ask about anything.

well that part about being able to go back to unlimited data after a month at 6GB certainly is not in line with anything I have been told by Verizon or have read here on the forums.

I have read about trading your unlimited data plan for 6GB/mo at the same price $30, and for some people it may be a good trade for now. I am more worried about the future.

I can't imagine Verizon is letting anyone go back to unlimited data, though, after they make the switch.

If you try to move to a non unlimited plan , there should be a warning about bit being able to get it back. Over the phone, I have been misinformed multiple times by multiple reps on a variety of matters. If they make a claim that is questionable and especially something critical like unlimited data , ask for the written policy.

At BB trying to transfer upgrade to dumb line and upgrade, BB called it a cross transfer, and said you lose unlimited. Anyone heard of that ?

never heard of cross transfer. But if they transfer the upgrade FROM the unlimited data line TO the dumbline and then process the upgrade on the dumbline, you will not lose unlimited data. Tell them you want to see the screen that shows them transferring the unlimited data line's upgrade to the dumbphone line for purchase on the dumbphone line.

keep us posted. not all best buy reps are knowledgeable, but as long as they transfer the upgrade off of the unlimited data line to do the upgrade and purchase and activate on the dumbphone line, you will be fine.

@DayThyme Thanks for all the help in educating us on UL updates.

I just placed an order via VZW TeleSales to setup a new line on my Share Everything plan @ 30/- for device. She then processed an upgrade on this new line using the upgrade from my existing UL line. She advised me to activate the phone on the new line once I receive it and then call customer care to swap devices. Very helpful CSR and was well aware of what I was trying to do.

I will drop the new line once the swap is complete as it's month-month @ 30/month as I did not have the old Family Share plans to only add a feature phone.

OK, finally home. got in the back of the line again at BB and got a different REP. She said exactly what you said Day Thyme. She went through the process with no concern for me losing the unlimited. She said that I would NOT lose it. Checked it when I got home and everything is fine. Waiting on Mom to dial the *228 to put old phone back on dumb line. I dont think i mentioned it, but she and the dumb phone is 1000 miles away. It all seems to be working well. I'll monitor and update. The first phone I got, yesterday, I used the upgrade that was due on the dumb line. this is the first Upgrade Transfer. Also, as I have seen others do and post about, I am using the sim card that came with the new phone when I transfer new phone to an unlimited. Hopefully no problems will arise.

The SIM that came with the new phone will be fine. Just type in the number when prompted.

Some people have reported getting a warning that the new phone is not compatible with their existing data plan when they go from 3G to 4G LTE but ignore it. As I recall, Verizon used to have different codes for 3G unlimited data and 4G unlimited data. However, you can go from 3G to 4G LTE no problem. Just ignore the warning and do not pick a new plan.

I can't remember, but I am not sure if she has to do that. I think you can shut off the new phone, log onto verizon online and do the switch back to the dumbphone but she has to have the dumbphone turned on when you do.

Remember you have to double check that they don't try to stick you with a $10/mo 75MB data plan on the dumbphone line. If they do, block data on the dumbphone and it will drop off. If you want pay as you go data, you can then unblock data IIRC.

Thats what I did. I ignored it yesterday while putting first 5s on my line. Mom has reactivated the dumb phone, and now waiting on MyVerizon to recognize the second 5s as a phone that I have previously used on my account, so that I can switch device to put it on my wifes line, thereby de-activating the I4 phone. Still seems to be good. Website still shows 2 unlimited, and also have yet again cancelled Data plan on Dumb line

You should be choosing your wifes iPhone 4 and then switch/activate a device and then I want to activate a device that I have had on the account before. The new iPhone 5s should be listed. If it is not, unfortunately, I think you are going to have reactive the new iPhone 5s on the dumbphone line again.

I did as you are saying, and for some reason the new 5s is not showing up on previously used device that does not have service. Dont understand why it finds my 5s which does have service, but i've triple checked. I have been trying to get a live chat, buy no luck with that either....all agents are busy. If I dont get it soon, i'll check it out in the morning. I think I remember seeing somewhere that it could take till 7am the next day for the recently deactivated device to show that on my verizon. but it does show the iPhone 4 as my wife's phone. I'll post tomorrow with what it took to make it happen.

for some reason iPhones seem to run into more problems than androids when you are activating them. I think it has something to do with the activation going through Apple's servers. Nothing like that happens when you activate an android.

So just reactivate the new iPhone on the dumbphone line - have your mom shut off her dumbphone, then go through the activation of the new iPhone on your mom's line again, make a call or two on the new iPhone, log onto verizon to check to see that the new iPhone is on your mom's line, then turn off the new iPhone and have your mom put the dumbphone back on her line.

Put 5s back on dumb line, got the "pending" for now, so unable to put dumb phone back on. Currently following instructions on pg79 of this thread.
