[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Well I rethought my situation and just wanted to get everybodys opinion. 2 of my lines have UD and one has 2gb. The one that has 2gb is ready to upgrade and if I upgrade that phone through bestbuy and ship it to my house and then activate it on the 2gb line and then later in the day switch the phone to one of the UD lines, I shouldn't either one of the UD right?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

HELP!!!
So I want the S5 but don't have an upgrade available, but my father has an upgrade available and he doesn't want to lose his UDP. Should i order the S5 then activate it on his line with the old 4g SIM card then deactivate the S5 on his line to activate it on my line? will my father still keep him unlimited data?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

or should i just activate the new S5 on my line and leave his line alone?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

also do i HAVE to order from BB or can this process work if i order from verizon? B/c the S5 is 99.99 with verizon right now and thats cheaper than best buy

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I'm very confused by all of this.

I currently have a family share plan with 5 lines (all with an upgrades available), and my account also has a sixth line with minimal data (no upgrade on this line). When I go into the Best Buy system to upgrade the family share phones, it allows me to upgrade - with options to keep current plan and keep current data plan. Am I missing something, or is it really this simple, and I don't need to worry about the sixth line and transferring upgrades.

Also, 4 of the phones I want to upgrade are iPhone 4. Plain 4. They don't have a sim card. When the new phone comes in, do I still NOT use the sim card that ships with the phone? Would I instead go to the VZW store and get a new sim card? What would happen if I used the SIM that ships?

Thanks for all the help! Really hoping this works!!!

If you order through Verizon you will lose your UDP. They do not allow you to upgrade to a new phone and keep your plan. The reason the BB thing works is because it is a "mistake" on their website process.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have 3 lines:

1st line is a Razr M with unlimited data and eligible for an upgrade
2nd line is a samsung intensity basic line for my daughter that isn't eligible for an upgrade
3rd line is another samsung intensity that is also a basic line, but the phone is dead and I do not use it. It isn't eligble for an upgrade either.

Which line do I transfer the upgrade to? My daughter needs her phone and the other phone I have doesn't work anymore.

After I transfer the upgrade, what's the process after that? I've never upgraded through verizon before. I want to upgrade to the S5, does it use the same sim as my razr m?

Thanks

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

i was able to use this process to get my S4. and it worked. i never lost my UDP. Does anyone know if the 2gb plan activates when the "new SIM" is activiated? or does the 2gb plan activate at the point of purchase?

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

Anyone try this today? I'm hearing that BB is forcing people to pick up the device at the store. I'm wondering if they've caught on.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I haven't seen confirmation that FoxFi works on KitKat yet besides the one comment... this is the only reason I'm holding out from making the upgrade.

The WiFi tethering doesn't work with the HTC M8 that I have yet, but the latest update notes claim the Samsung Kitkat versions should now work. I can't confirm.

Maybe the phone is cheaper at VZW but the BB method is the only way to keep UDP. What is worth more to you?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

After lurking around the thread for 2 weeks, I finally pulled a trigger on S5 yesterday. Patiently waiting for the shipping notification email.
Anyways, I saw the $99 deal on VZW. And I think Amazon has it for $150.

I mean if BB is the only way to keep the UDP and use Foxfi, I think well worth how much I paid ($200).

I think if BB lowers the price within 15 days of the purchase, they can honor the lower price.
Not 100% sure but I am hoping this will happen, maybe get back $50 or so.
With this outcome and everything going successfully to keep my UDP, that would be money.

I just ordered for my mom, 04/26/14 and she received it yesterday, everything went smoothly. No issues. I had the option to ship or pick up in store.

Even if they make you pick it up in store, do you absolutely have to get them to activate it for you?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Thank you for answering my question.

Just to clarify I can either borrow my friend's samsung galaxy s3 to swap my stolen phone and reactivate from suspension

or

I can buy new phone at full price (market price) to swap it out.

It will keep my unlimited plan. I am on the road a lot, i do not want to risk losing my plan.

Thank you

Correct any of those are officially allowed by Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

just to let you know i did buy my S5 from verizon yesterday for 99.99 and never activated the new SIM it came with for my fathers line, instead i put my SIM from my S4 into the S5 and WALA! my father got to keep his unlimited and i have the S5. this was the same process i did for my S4 and i still have unlimited to this date. but i have one question,

My father thinks that if he goes over 2gbs verizon can retro charge him for going over.... does anyone think they can actually do that? his plan still says unlimited data...

i wanna say that they can't do that, but i wanna know your guys opinions....

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So here's my scenario : 2 smartphones both month-to-month right now and 1 basic phone. Used the upgrade on the basic phone last year to get the S4. I'm wanting to upgrade to the G3 when it comes out, but keep unlimited data on the 2 smartphones. Is this possible and what's my best option? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help me with this?

Line 1 : S5 with UDP and M2M
Line 2 : Galaxy Nexus with UDP and M2M
Line 3 : Basic line, no upgrade

Thanks!

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Completely opinion, but having print outs and dates of your plan I don't see how they could. And I don't think there is anything in the contract that says anything particular about sim cards and which one you need to use and which phone should be activated on what line. I read through all the gibberish and couldn't really see anything mentioned about it.

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

I read many of the messages in this thread. I am wondering - has anyone been successful doing this in the store? I'd love to have the phones this weekend rather than waiting til next week for them to be shipped to me. (Thinking of doing this for my wife and I, as we are upgrade eligible and both have unlimited data).

I would think you'd have the option of ordering online and just picking up the phone(s) and not having them open or activate them while in the store, which would allow you to go home and do the activation process as noted in this thread.

Thoughts?

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

This sounds like it might be a good option for me. We have three droids (HTC Incredible and Moto Droid X) and and one feature phone on a family plan. Everything is out of contract. The other thread about swapping the upgrade from a feature phone line would only get one of the droids upgraded. At least that's how I read it. We want to upgrade all three droids.

The smartphones are not running off SIM cards. If I use the bb site, would I select "Upgrade My Device" on the screen that people have posted here? Then just capture screens as I go along to show that I was keeping the existing data plan?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Received my new HTC One M8 today. Popped in my old sim card, and all is well with my unlimited plan.

However, I purchased a NEW device, and the one they sent me appears to be not only used, but it is scuffed up. The back has a rather large scuff, and the black strip across the top of the phone is scratched up on one corner. I don't know if Best Buy or HTC is at fault here, but I'm pissed right now.
