[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

So your saying ignore that verbiage about being reset to 2g and just purchase the phone and use the old SIM card and it still works? Also is there a was for BB to match Verizon price there have a deal for 149.99 with a 50 rebate vers BB is just 149.99 for the S5

Thanks or the help I appreciate it.

Yes, just ignore that part you will be putting in your old Sim card that has UDP on it, with the price matching you can try it but I would be carefull.

Thanks yeah I was second guessing the price match may draw attention to it...I guess for $50 bucks it's worth not screwing up the ULD plan and it a whole lot cheaper then going and paying close to full price on ebay or Craigslist. Thanks for the reply

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hey guys, I just saw this thread and I have few questions. I'm not sure if the answers are in this thread but I work 15hr shifts at my job 6 days a week so really dont have much time to look through 120pages to find my answer so thats why I'm asking here.

Okay, I have Droid Razr Maxx and want to upgrade to the S5 from Best Buy's website and do the ship to home and I put my sim card in to activate it and keep my UDP shenanigans. I am the only one on my line and do have a Family plan or anything like that. Just me with UDP and 450min talk time. Will the SIM card swap work with my plan when I put the one from my razr in? and that leads me to my second question, will the sim card from my razr maxx fit and S5?

Any help and instructions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I think that is the gist of it. I would recommend posting on the Best Buy method thread:

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I know I had a lot of questions, so I just wanted to provide an update in case anyone finds it helpful:

Placed my order today on BB for the Note 3. I selected keep current plan and chose standard delivery. I did not have a billing password set up, but did not get an email saying there was a problem with my order. A few hours after placing my order, I got an email from BB saying the phone shipped. I just logged into my Verizon an it extended my contract for 2 more years and it says the data is still unlimited. Additionally, the tracking says the phone will arrive in 2 days. I'll be sure to update once I get my phone, but so far, everything has worked as described in the thread. Thanks to all!

I posted this in another forum as i am new to this.

You have a Razr Maxx too so do you know if the SIM card from it will fit the S5? I want to do this but man I do not want to lose my UDP because its how I go online with my PC and play Diablo and whatnot. I go through about 120GB a month and ont really want to lose UDP lol

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

If I do run into a problem is there a way to cancel everything without being signed up for the two year contract if they put me on the 2gb plan?

Sweet thanks man. Now on that screen where it says "Line Access Fee" I just choose "No Change" right and put in my old SIM card in the S5 and I will be g2g? Also, I saw some people were running into problems when they checked for eligibility to upgrade that when they put in their Verizon password on that screen that after they ordered the phone some got error emails. Will I get that as well or is it because they did something different when placing the order?

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction man.

No problem. We should probably create thread titles to more clearly delineate the different methods to keep unlimited data because if people mix up the different methods it could cause problems.

What is this One Time Upgrade Fee for Line 1? Does this mean I will lose my UDP?

Just choose upgrade right guys? Sorry for all the bothersome questions. Just want to make sure I do this right

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

So I can't upgrade my line (main line) till 7/5/2014 but the other phone can upgrade. If I go to the verizon website to switch the upgrade it doesn't stay when I go back to BB. Guess I'll need to wait till 7/5?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just ordered the S5. Everything said keep existing plan. Fingers crossed. So all i have to do is just put in the old sim card, turn on phone, and it will activate and be g2g?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just discovered this thread today and want to make a purchase soon so I have a question. Do you guys know if a SIM card from a Thunderbolt will work in a HTC One. I think I have to cut it down right?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Hey all,

Cool thread. really hope this works. Quick question:

I have a Droid RAZR (not a RAZR Maxx); will this sim card work in the HTC One M8? Just bought the M8 directly through HTC's website ($100 dollar make me holler). Having it shipped to my home. I'm assuming i will need to cut the sim to make it fit?

Do you guys have any preferred sim cutter? Is one better than another, or will most sim cutters work for this?

Thank you gents. Keep doing god's work, stickin' it to the man.

once you transfer your upgrade you should be able to hop on the BB site an buy you new phone

yes, once you recivice your new phone just put your old sim card from your old phone in the new phone and turn it on and your G2G.

No, the thunderbolt has the old big sim cards and it will not work with the new HTC one.

what you could do is hop on craigslist and buy a crappy phone for cheep that uses the mirco sim card and go to Verizon store and tell them you need a sim from a phone you bought off craigslist and get that activated, Once you get that done and you are able to use the phone from craigslist, then buy your new phone from BB using the how to in this thread.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since it won't work with the One, will the thunderbolt SIM work with any new phone such as the S5 or it can't be cut to fit any new ones?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

So what if everyone posting about successful upgrades with udp in this thread works for Verizon and are making us up to steal our unlimited data? No but seriously... what if?!?

My friend who works for verizon (customer service rep in store) said that once i put the old sim in the new phone, i'll lose my unlimited data. So if I do lose it , is there any reversal? Like if I return the phone to best buy or something and can forget it ever happened?
