For those who've done this with amazon none have reported being charged any etf. But it's your choice. Verizon reps etc have said the same thing for all loopholes but they've worked out well. (Not saying it currently works) but just saying that reps aren't the best sources for info.

I posted earlier that I was charged Amazon's secondary ETF of $400. Not sure if I mentioned this or not, but when i contacted Amazon, they reversed the $400 charge as a goodwill gesture for being a loyal customer.(Prime member continuously since 2006) It also helped that i was able to prove to them that I kept the lines/plans intact and all I did was switch the phones around.

I may have missed that BUT for the loophole to work NO ONE has changed phones. All they did was not use the SIM card that came with the new phone and instead used the old sim.

It is my own fault for waiting for BB to ship the G3, now all I want to do is put my line under contract before October. I also read on this other forum two people confirmed being charged with ETF from Amazon, which makes it too risky imho.

I wouldn't tell you something that would screw up your UDP, that would make no sense at all.

I wonder if this trick will still be working when Best Buy
starts selling the Galaxy Note 4 or the iPhone 6 5.5-inch.
I know I'm definitely getting either one of those.

No you don't need a membership. Yes it works. The receipt will say 2gb of data unlike best buy.

if the receipt says 2gb of data, doesn't that mean you have agreed to change to 2gb data plan?

Per Verizon Network Optimization faq page:

Once my data speed is reduced, am I going to be under Network Optimization forever?*
No. You will be subject to Network Optimization for that billing cycle and the following cycle. When subject to Network Optimization you will only be affected when connected to a cell site experiencing high demand. Otherwise, your data will operate as normal.*

According to that wording if you get throttled the month you went over, you get throttled the next billing cycle, so on the next billing cycle if you go over again you'll be throttled the next billing cycle, so it could never end. And yes throttle i mean network optimization.

There is about 10 X as much panic about THROTTLING as the facts and details warrant.

No one has experienced it yet and we are all counting on "journalists" who are paid to generate pageviews and clicks who are talking about future events. Nothing sells like fear and panic. See also clickbait

Maybe we should slow down on speculation and review 1st-hand experience???

You are correct, it's a wait and see game. But there is something that is going to be different this time around. Verizon announced they are going to start using the volte deal in next few weeks which introduces HD voice and video calling, which both will use more data and require higher speed data.

I myself don't think it was coincidence that Verizon announced the 4g network optimization and volte being launched in a few weeks. I'm guessing that network optimization will be used in the near future, specially when more phones get volte capability.

I as a customer expect Verizon to remember these are cell phones and calls take priority over Facebook, or data.

Yes. That is why best buy is preferred for this method.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe their 4G LTE unlimited data plan throttling policy doesn't even take effect until October 2014.

i took the plunge. i found this thread a couple weeks ago and got a sim cutter for my wife's droid bionic to use in a galaxy s4 i got for 95 cents plus tax. i ordered the phones n 8/25 got them on the 8/29 took out the sims phone came with and put the sims in from old phones been checking but see no changes from my unlimited data plan
