[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Okay guys so here is my situation. I currently have an upgrade available on 2 GB line. I want to get the new iPhone on my unlimited data line which won't be eligible for an upgrade until next year. Is it possible for me to go ahead and order the new iPhone on the 2 GB line and just pop my own sim in it?

If not I'm guessing I will have to activate the new iPhone on the 2 GB line first? How does this process work? (I'm asking because the person on my plan who has the 2 GB lines about 400 miles away). Can I just quickly activate it and then deactivate/switch the phone? Will the phone come with the sim already?

Thanks in advance!

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Coming down to crunch time here and I think with all of your help I have narrowed my options to these two. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Line 1, mine, UDP, upgrade eligible
Line 2, sister's, TDP, upgrade eligible
We both want the iPhone 6 ASAP but willing to endure some delay to keep my UDP.

1. Upgrade line 1 tonight through apple.com and use BB method to activate, realizing this is untested and there is some risk of losing my UDP. Upgrade line 2 tonight with verizon. Fall back plan would be to return the apple.com phone prior to activation if it's not looking successful on the forums.

2. Upgrade line 2 tonight on verizon. Activate phone on arrival. Then use Scyzek method to upgrade line 1 by transferring upgrade to line 2. More proven but I'm going to have to wait a couple weeks to get my phone.

Does this sound about right? Any suggestions?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Ok...

I have
User A - Smartphone with upgrade available
User B - UDP with Blackberry Curve (NO SIM CARD)
User C- Basic line, upgrade available
User D - UDP, upgrade available
We also have an iphone 4S that is unlocked w

My parents B and C are across the country so I have to make it as simple as possible for them...and I'm concerned the lack of sim card will complicate things.

My plan was using the verizon iphone 4S tradein to get the Iphone 6 for User C...but what do I do for User B? If they have no sim card. The other option which seems way complicated was, UserB takes iphone 4S, holds on to it, UserA uses upgrade using Best Buy trick, swap SIM cards with UserB, activate new phone with User B, and then use the 4S to trade in for User C's new iphone? Sorry if that's confusing.

UserA has standard 2gB. UserB does not have ugprade available but needs one desperately.

Verizon offers the $200 trade in. We both bought iPhone 4's for $80 on eBay to trade for a $200 credit. Of course, it isn't going to work out for me since I'm going to buy from apple now, but I can resell.

Thanks for the quick responses. userC (basic) will be getting the iphone 6. UserB will be getting a Samsung Alpha or Galaxy S5.

What happened to Marco?! Are we being censored?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I could use some help. I have read as much of this thread as possible and understand all the various methods. My issue is what to do about the SIM card and whether it matters.

I have:

Main plan: Verizon Nationwide Talk and Text 1400
Line 1 (mine): UDP upgrade eligible, iPhone 4S, month to month
Line 2: TDP not upgrade eligible (2GB), iPhone 5S, 1 year left
Line 3: TDP Upgrade eligible (2GB), iPhone 4S, month to month
Line 4: Basic phone, 2 years left
Line 5: Basic phone, month to month

I have ordered an iPhone 6 upgrade on the Line 3 eligible upgrade and will move it to my Line 1 using the activate on Line 3, add old phone ESN back to Line 3 (deactivating the 6), then adding the 6 ESN to Line 1. The sim cards on the 4S and 6 will not match. How should I manage the SIM card swap and does it matter since it is Verizon and it is only used for International travel? Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hi all, a little confirmation that the switch orders are tied to the SIM card.

A friend of mine pre-ordered the IPhone 6 from Verizon. They are on a small business account with 3 UDPs, 1 TDP and 1 dumbphone. When they were unable to order using the website, against my advice, they called to place the order.

The plan was to transfer an unlimited Upgrade to the tiered line. Then when the phone comes just activate the phone on the unlimited plan.

The rep said she would not lose the unlimited data. They did make her make a change to the tiered line. Make it the $60 unlimited talk/text 2gb data. They then said when she gets the phone call before turning on and they would put the old plan back on.

When asked if they can discard the sim that came with it and activate it with the old sim, the rep said that should work to. He said that would bypass the change of plan to the tiered and keep unlimited on the donor line.

I will keep you guys updated.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

When I upgraded to the M8, I just went to a VZW store, upgraded a dumb line to the M8. I then went to another VZW store, swapped the M8 to my UDP line, and they put the dumb phone back on the dumb line.

Was that before August 24th? If it was after you should of been locked into paying for data on the dumbphone line.

Bestbuy method will NOT work with any iPhone preorders because low and behold, they don't allow online orders only IN STORE PICKUP.

How will you manage this if the SIM cards are different (micro vs. nano and non-NFC vs. NFC)?

Please do not discuss about banned members.

Sent from my LG G Pad 8.3

I don't want to discuss banned members. I want clear instructions from the moderators of this forum to tell us what is and what is not allowed to be discussed. Is this thread topic taboo? If so, delete it and make an announcement stating in clear terms what discussion is not welcome here.

Deleting threads and banning members with no explanation doesn't solve the issue. If there is something going on here that the owners of this forum want to stop, just say so.

I would just get a SIM card cutter or shim to be able to use the sim card in different phones. Nfc vs non-nfc should not matter.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Still trying to figure out how to get an upgrade for my UDP that has no sim card without having to buy an unlocked phone...thanks. Gonna repost.

I have an unlocked iphone 4S that I'm going to trade in for the iphone 6 for UserA
UserA is on basic line, no data, upgrade available
UserB has UDP but smartphone with no sim card, no upgrade available
UserC has TDP but upgrade available
User D has UDP and upgrade available. I'm probably going to buy an unlocked moto x though so don't think I need it.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

For data, auto correct. If you did the same thing today you would not of been able to drop the data back off the dumbphone.

How so? The data plan wouldn't be compatible for a dumb phone. Even still, I would think I could drop it after a month. VZW changes the rules too often for me to keep track.
