They told me verizon was holding up my order and wanted me to verbally give them the ok to Change y plan from UDP to the new options before releasing my upgrade from bestbuy.... has anyone had this happen and gotten Around it?

Ouch. Makes me think I shouldn't have cancelled my order. I just did Switzma with my other line on the acct hoping it would go through. Some people say its hit or miss as to whether they audit your acct on the slickdeals thread. Kind of pissed at myself now. But I waited a full business day (i ordered 8/8)past what you did without response so maybe its for the best.

When I placed my order last summer one had to cancel the order if there was such a problem. Doing what the BB rep suggested to you would result in a loss of the UDP.

Well this thread seems a bit old but there are recent replies. A VZW Rep told me I couldn't buy a phone at retail and insert my SIM card into a new phone or switch the line over to get a new one. I wanted to verify this as I had an iPhone 4 and bought an S3 to tether with. The only way to keep my UDP was to buy a phone at retail or used and then activate it with my UDP number. Now VZW says the only option is to buy a phone through a Device Payment Plan and pay the phone off in 2 YEARS. Please help me out someone.

My current situation:
Nationwide Talk Share
Line 1: iPhone 4. Month to month. Upgrade Avail. UDP. Want to upgrade to iPhone 6
Line 2: iPhone 4. Month to month. Upgrade Avail. UDP. Want to upgrade to iPhone 6

I want to avoid paying the extra $20 for unlimited. Is this possible?

Just to update. I was able to do the Switzma method and got the shipping confirmation aftwr initially being flagged using the 4ever method.

All you have to do to keep unlimited data is go to T-mobile or Sprint no worries

When you have VZW unlimited locked in at 64$ for your share of the bill, you don't want to let it go until your forced to. If VZW ups my bill t-mobile is my backup. I just love the coverage since I go to ohio from time to time to visit family and service can be ****ty depending where you are.

There is no need to speak to a VZW rep. None.
You can do what you need online. The VZW rep has every incentive to get you to switch away from your UDP.

You can currently buy a new device say at BestBuy.com at full price, have it shipped to your home and immediately insert your current SIM into it before you evert turn it on. This will allow you to keep your UDP.

If you paid full retail you will keep your UDP for as long as your contract is in effect. When the contract has been met you may see an increase in the monthly cost for having UDP.

Is it possible to port out my number on a VZW UDP line to another carrier and still keep my UDP? I saw in this thread where it's possible to port to Google Voice, but was wondering if there was a way to just skip that step and go right from VZW to another carrier?

Actually, he is correct. That is a valid but risky upgrade path that will not affect UDP.

So now my wife on 2 year plan with iphone and 1 gig per month gets unlimited and my Note gets her 1 gig plan. Nice for wife except she uses no data and I use a lot so how do we gain unless I want to switch to her iphone (no) and she wants to use a note (no)

If you buy a phone from BestBuy.com for the full price there is NO CONTRACT. Some people may purchase a new phone while they have a current contract in effect.

The UDP is at risk when one purchases a phone at a subsidized price since UDP plans are no longer offered.

Dunno if this was directed to my question but I have another question:

When you say to order from verizon, do you mean to pay the full retail price? Because when I try to upgrade a phone, I select to get the 2 Year Contract price and when I get to the Plan selection, it says:
"Your current Unlimited Data package is no longer available. To continue, please select a new Data package. You will not be able to go back to your current Unlimited Data package."

What am I missing here? I'd like to get the 2yr contract because the price is more affordable *and* because I assume, being under contract will help me avoid the $20 price increase to UDP. Thanks for the help.
