Have you tried going through the steps with a different phone? Have you tried using a different browser? Have you tried clearing the cache of said browser? Try going through the steps with the htc M8 and report back.

Ok, I've tried what you suggested. I have cleared cache and use different browsers to attempt the order. Same error message. I have even tried a different phone (tried the M8 you suggested) and still same error 53. I've now spent hours on the phone and chat service to get a remedy, but no one at BB or VZW can help. I had one rep run a credit check on me because he seemed to think that was the issue. One rep. did tell me that the error 53 is from a balance being owed, however I do not have a balance due at all. They even looked it up and confirmed. I use auto-payment and it came out yesterday and is paid in full. VZW reps tell me to call BB ... and BB reps tell me to call VZW. I've even made them call each other while on the line with me and they can't figure it out. So frustrating!

Thought I'd throw my experience in as I've been scouring these threads lately.

Pre-ordered the S5 on Wednesday from Best Buy and then wake up this morning with an email from BB saying there is a problem with my order and I need to call in or it will be canceled in 48 hours. Was already hating it at this point, call in and some dude says i need to get transferred to a back-end team and I confirm nothing in my order will change, FWIW. Some lady gets on and says she has to contact Verizon cause the "pre-activation" failed and that even by putting my last 4 and password in online that it somehow still didn't work, bunch of BS. Comes back and says she can't complete the order without me losing the unlimited plan. I was already hot as I'd been on hold on and off for 30 mins by this time, F BB. So I tell her to cancel it and hang up.

I go back to BB's site and re-order hoping I would get the same results that many others have had, the order goes through without having to talk to anyone. So I noticed a few minutes ago, my contract upgrade date just changed to two years in the future and I call in to BB to check the automated order status, since online it doesn't really show you anything. New status says "preparing purchase order" and "keep existing plan, activated". I'm thinking it's working now and was wondering if anyone else has insight into the new order status and contract date change on verizon's website?

BTW, as a side note .... one BB rep did tell me something about UDP. I was trying to avoid even talking about plans at all with any of these people. She said "you do realize you will lose your UDP if you get this order to go through, right? Even if you manage to get this order to go through by selecting KEEP DATA PLAN, they can take the plan from you." I was like "uh, yeah" and left it at that. I'm not sure this method will last much longer so I'm hard-pressed to get it done now!

Yes you can...depending on the phone you buy now, you may need to cut down your SIM card

When my order went thru, I printed all paperwork from BB site and Verizon site showing that I still maintained UDP and unlimited text. Nothing changed on our plan. That's good to hear your contract date changed and you got your phone. Sounds like even more that my order is going through.
I was thinking there could have been an issue with the pre-order part, but we'll see.

So I have 2 dumbphone accounts that have eligible upgrades. If i bought 2 M8's is there a way I can keep them both? Transfer one to my unlimited account and keep the other but drop the dataplan? Or maybe get 2, sell one, and give my android phone to my gf (but with no data plan)?

Am I going to have to do something complicated with the sim card in my droid razr maxx?

I am trying to figure out the best route for upgrading my UDP to a Galaxy S4.

I have 3 lines on the Nationwide Talk Share 700.

1. UDP Iphone 4, upgrade eligible
2. Galaxy SIII, upgrade due 6/15
3. Dumb phone, upgrade eligible

If I use the dumb phone upgrade I understand I'll have to temporarily add data. I pay just $9.99 for that line's access and $10 for unlimited texting on that line also. Will any of this be affected permanently after deactivating the new smart phone and reactivating the dumb phone? Will there be any issues with the Iphone 4 and the SIM card?

did the upgrades on 2 dumbphones and just activated them on the smartphone lines. Verizon's website is now all pissy with me though for not activating them initially on the lines I ordered them on. I should've waited and done that because now my account is basically locked (meaning I can't downgrade the data on the dumbphones until I resolve)

Torn if I should call verizon and make them fix it, or just wait until tomorrow and go through the activate carousel.

The simplest thing would be to order a Galaxy S4 on line 3. During the online ordering process it will ask you to select a data plan and select the cheapest one like $10. The plan will be pending and won't actually take effect. When the phone comes just activate the new phone on your line 1 with UDP. Go online and select activate a phone on your line 1, it will ask for the MEIN and the number on the SIM that comes with the phone. Once done you will have your new S4 on line 1. The data plan you selected for line 3 will never go into effect and the pending order will eventually fall off. It is not really necessary to activate and deactivate the new device on the dumb phone line before putting it on the unlimited data line.

The pending activations will eventually go away and since you didn't activate the phone on those lines the data plans don't go into effect so you're not paying for it. It may take a few days up to a week but it they will fall off.

You have 2 dumbphone lines and 1 unlimited account? You can order an M8 on one dumphone line and then activate it on your unlimited account. You can then order another using the other dumphone line and just don't activate it on that dumbphone line. The data plan will never go into effect. You can either sell it or whatever.

it says crap about a pending order though. You think it'll just revert? i mean as long as it's working it doesn't really matter, but I'd hate to have a problem later and not be able to fix it (the dumbphones are in-laws and 45+ minutes away)

That's what happened to mine. In the activations screen it shows a pending activation. I just ignore it and activate on my unlimited data line. It goes away eventually. I didn't check every day so don't know exactly when it fall off but I think about a week later it was gone and I had my basic phone still on the dumb phone line with a dumb phone plan.

Hello all! My GF and I have iPhone 4S's and we want to do the Best Buy trick to get new S5's. We don't have 4G sim's so that is what is holding me up from trying this on both of our lines. We are both set for upgrades and I went through the process and it allows me to accept UDP. Someone on here suggested getting a new sim from Verizon. Makes me a bit nervous to try through them.

Do you think it would be easy to just go to a store and say I got these new S5's, I bought them on Ebay, I need new sim's. Would that screw up everything? Should I do it through the live chat? I tried to do it without the phones by going on live chat, but they wanted phone info before they would send it.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't worry.... If you print out have proof that the purchase went thru without changing your plan worse case you can just get it back. You never authorized a change they cannot just change it.

I had this same problem today. The CSR wouldn't send the nano sims without the phone info. I refused and purchased 2 nano sims from Amazon for $6.19 each. I'm going to get the phones and do my own sim swapping. Hopefully it works out.

What about the 2-year contract on the dumb phone's line? Did the dumb-phone line which was upgraded become under contract even though you never activated the new phone on it? If so, when did you, from Verizon's perspective, commit yourself to the new contract? The contract had to land SOMEWHERE!
