[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Hi. I have verizon unlimited data plan on my samsung galaxy s3

I got my phone stolen yesterday, thus my sim card is gone.

I do not have high hope of finding it. I have replacement phone, but if i register it and get new sim card, i am afraid losing my plan.

I have one line and contract end date is july.

What are my options to keep unlimited plan.

Or is there no chance of keeping unlimited plan if you lose ur simcard?

Okay, So Itook the plunge as well. Like many others, I am worried about losing my UDP. I ordered a Samsung S4 through Bestbuy.com on my third line of my account. This line is a dumb phone with no SD card. I placed the order online with my name. The account through Verizion is in my wife's name. I received an Email (from Bestbuy) stating that there was a problem with my order. I called in and talked to 5 different people before I could get an answer to why my order was flagged. The answer that I got was that the Pre-Activation had failed! According to the lady at Bestbuy, all I need to do is to have my wife call in and verify that the order is okay with her.

From this point, does everything sound like it's Okay?

Is a pre-activation gonna mess up anything on my UDP ?

It should not be a problem, so long as you are not getting a subsidized phone, you don't need to deal with any loopholes. Verizon allows what you are trying to do

Thank you for answering my question.

Just to clarify I can either borrow my friend's samsung galaxy s3 to swap my stolen phone and reactivate from suspension

or

I can buy new phone at full price (market price) to swap it out.

It will keep my unlimited plan. I am on the road a lot, i do not want to risk losing my plan.

Thank you

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I need help with my situation. Right now I have a family plan that has 2 lines that are UDP and one line that is 2gb. I have an upgrade for the 2gb line and one of the UD lines. Right now all of the lines have 3g phones, none of us have 4g phones. Last week however, I bought a droid 4 off the internet and went into the verizon store to get a 4g microsim card free of charge and I activated that phone with one of the UD phones. Well that phone ended up being defective so I sent it back and switched back to my 3g phone but I kept that microsim card. I just want to know, if I did this upgrade, how would I get that sim card activated without activating the phone and losing the UD? Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Add me to the list. Phone hasn't arrived yet but vzw shows contract extended to 4/29/2016 and still UD. Shows the device as still my s3 but maybe when I get the s5 and power on it will change. Don't really care about that though.

Questions:

I want to use an s5 SIM card at some point to try out the ISIS software (virtual wallet). Do you think if I waited a bit then went into verizon and said I lost it or broke the sim or something that would work?

Also, how do I put insurance on it? Geek squad only covers damage. I want to cover loss and theft as well. Anyone have any advice on that?

SIM cards or free. Just tell them you need one that works with Isis and they'll give you one. Make sure it's corporate as the indirect will usually charge you

Do not use the sim the phone came with as soon as you remove it destroy it.
As far as insurance I highly recommend Asurion, once you've activated your phone you can go to My Verizon and then go to features where you can add the insurance which covers everything loss, theft...

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I haven't seen confirmation that FoxFi works on KitKat yet besides the one comment... this is the only reason I'm holding out from making the upgrade.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

This may be a stupid question but what do you mean by corporate? How do I know if a verizon store is a corporate store?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just throwing it out there...ordered from BB on Monday and haven't received the phone and I logged into my verizon account had this: Sorry, your current usage information is not available at this time. Please check back later.

From the apps description it's just Verizon Samsung phones, s3/s4/s5/note2/note3

I think it even mentioned the Note 4 which isn't even out yet.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I've read many of the posts here and am about to go ahead with the loophole. However, I just want to make sure that it will work for my specific situation.

I have two lines:
1: UDP on Droid Razr Maxx (Micro SIM), upgrade eligible
2: Basic line, upgrade eligible
(also, I have other eligible UDP lines)

I plan on ordering an HTC One M8 to my house (using the basic line's upgrade) and then activating it straight onto the UDP line (using my online Verizon account). From what I've gathered, it shouldn't be necessary to cut my Micro SIM down to a Nano SIM. I can use the new SIM that comes pre-installed by typing in the phone's info and the SIM # online. QUESTION 1: Will using the pre-installed Nano SIM be OK or do I need to get a Micro=>Nano SIM-cutter on Amazon and use my original Droid Razr Maxx SIM in the new phone?

Then, once I have activated the new phone on my UDP line, I plan on transferring the upgrade from my UDP line to the basic line, so that we can upgrade the basic phone later on. QUESTION 2: Will the upgrade on the UDP line still be available after activating the HTC? QUESTION 3: Will transferring the upgrade to the basic line (which sacrificed it's upgrade for the new phone) affect my UDP? I spoke with two different online CSRs and both said that this will remove my unlimited data. The second time, I didn't even mention trying the get a new phone. I simply asked whether transferring an upgrade from a UDP line would affect my unlimited data. Both reps were confident that this would be like upgrading my plan and would remove the unlimited data. However, many of you suggested that this is not the case.

I am inclined to believe you guys more than those conniving reps looking to exploit us for commission. But I'd like to be sure. Thanks everyone for your helpful advice and experiences.

I ordered Tues morning and I just checked....it still said unlimited. Phone arriving today! Still nervous :-\

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

Why does this only work at bestbuy?

Just the way that their system works. Their system doesn't go through the same one as other authorized retailers. Some other locations use another system very similar to the one used at corporate locations, but I don't think BBY is on the same one.
