So even if I am still on 3G - they can send me a new simcard encoded with my current account/data plan?
Not seeing this option online - did you order over phone / in-person?
What phone so you have now that you are upgrading from?

Trying to see if anyone else has done this from a 3G phone without activating to 4GLTE before doing the sim-card swap method.

I have yet to successfully active with one, but I ordered a SIM from VZW over the phone, they ship 2-day air, costs $0. They can supposedly do in the store as well.
This is because my 3G phone has no SIM, and I told them I was purchasing a 4G phone (with nanoSIM!) from a coworker, and needed a SIM for my account to make it work.

Still waiting for a response on post # 412 above to see if it's even worth it anymore though or if this deal is now dead?

I just went through and added S5 to cart and was able to keep current plan. Not pulling trigger yet as I am still trying to sort out one thing:

I went through BB website today up to the checkout and it appears to let me "Keep Current PLan" thoughout the whole process

I bought an S5 and a Sim card cutter today. Verizon now shows I have unlimited data with a contract ending 5/7/16. Looks to me like it is still working. I'll update when I get the phone activated and let everyone know for sure that you can add insurance after the Sim swap activation.

I see it hard for them to do that considering you've already had a phone working and you have proof that your plan hasn't changed. If I were in your shoes I would take a chance and that's only because you have the proof on your side. Have you attempted to hard reset? There is a sequence with the power button and volume but I don't know it off the top of my head.

Late last week I did a factory reset and did the power button + volume up/down thing I saw in another post somewhere in the forums. My battery life did improve quite a bit, but still lacked compared to theirs. I actually haven't experienced the screen issue since the reset and my battery has been going since yesterday without a charge with moderate use (73% in 1d2h w/ 3h screen time), so I might be in the clear.

1. When did you place the bestbuy order (date)?
2. Did you use a Desktop or mobile device to place the order?
3. Did you have a screen like my screenshot in post 380?
4. And you were able to say ship to home? In Mobile, this is not an option (store pickup only), and I'm unable to bypass the screenshot from #3 above on Desktop.

Otherwise, I tried doing exactly as you spelled out above, with ordering new SIM from Verizon (arrived today) but had to order for store pickup and yesterday the refused to give me the phone without turning it on in store... so now my UDP is gone in VZW - they say they'll give it back if I return the BB phone though.... wondering if I should try this all over again, depending on other people's new order experience within the last 24-48 hours?

....I can not even test this now, as BB/VZW says my plan is not eligible for upgrade, because I just did with this new phone.


I'm thinking this deal is dead, but maybe only some people see some screens, vs other people see a different one?

I used a desktop computer, not a mobile phone. I got the "keep existing plan" option.
For the phones I purchased (iphone 5s, galaxy note 3), ship to home was an option. other phones, i did not have that option (there was a deal for a 32gb iphone 5c that was in-store only).

Nothing wrong with those numbers. I keep my BT, GPS on and have a handful of stuff syncing in the background. I'm at about moderate usage daily and can get through a day pretty/very easily. As long as the phone stays this way for the life of the phone (not likely) then I'll be just fine having this phone for a long time.

Yes, thank you. You and I had almost the exact same process as you, except there was no ship to home for the HTC One M8 Grey. So I'm thinking because of the model I'm looking for I'm SOL.

That's what I'm hoping to do for my wife's phone (iphone 4 no sim card, ordered sim card, putting it straight into the BB ordered phone). Phone is on it's way so i'll be able to update for sure when I get the phone. Note, when I ordered the sim from VZW, i did specify that i'd be buyin a phone used, and told them exactly which phone (so they could get the right sim card). They understood that people were doing this to keep unlimited data and gave me no trouble.

My phone is a Galaxy S4, so it already has a micro sim, and the new note 3 uses micro sim too. good thing i don't have to bother with the nano sim cutting.

if the sim they send doesn't work in your wife's phone (5S), you could get another sim from verizon and activate your S4 on your wife's line, then remove the sim from that and put it in her new phone (5S). just an option if you run into trouble with activating the sim they are mailing you.

Had an interesting situation. Last night I changed my phone to an old phone that had a micro sim. Then I ordered an s5. My plan extended it's contract end date to 2016. Everything went through. Then (Being dumb) I took out the sim and stuck it in my old phone that has a blacklisted imei. It blacklisted the sim. So I went in to verizon and they gave a new sim. They said nothing about the s5's or updated plans.. didn't seem to care. Registered my new sim, reactivated the old phone I had (the unblacklisted one) and boom I'm up and running. S5's are on the way

They are not allowed to close this loop hole until June! That's when my GS3 is off contract, two years flew bye. Already cranky VZ took away the 2month early upgrade thing they use to do.

My apologies if this was answered, I have not read thru all 423 posts.

When I go to bb to check this out, there is a disclaimer that says

"DO YOU HAVE AN EXISTING UNLIMITED DATA PLAN?

Here's what you need to know:

With Verizon's new Share Everything plan, unlimited data is no longer available. When you upgrade your device, you will not have unlimited data.

If keeping unlimited data is important to you, you can choose "Replace my device" and pay full retail price for a new device.

If I take the sim out of my razr, and take the sim out of the G5 without ever turning it on, and put my sim in it as others have recommended above, will I keep my unlimited data, or is the disclaimer above true, and this won't work anymore?
