[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Alright guys, I have a link for a promotion to buy the HTC m8 and get a 100 Best Buy card.

You have to order through the HTC site, but it is powered by Best Buy's order process.

Here is the offer, anyone think this will work?

Buy Now HTC One | HTC United States

I order my M8 through the HTC last week. So far there is no changes in my plan. It is the same process to keep UDP.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Wondering why this method involves a credit check with an existing plan, and the Best Buy (direct) site does not. Waiting to see if anyone is successful this way before I give it a shot. Currently the M8 comes with a $50 BB card, and the HTC site is $100 off. So... I'd rather do the HTC site if it's going to work to keep UDP.

I got my phone off the HTC site and was successful. It is powered by Best Buy. When you buy it, it will re-direct you to the Best Best checkout process.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Hello. We would like to update our existing phones and keep the unlimited data plan. We currently have the following and all are elig for updates:
Line 1: Iphone4
Line 2: Iphone4
Line 3: Dumb phone
We are thinking of getting GalaxyS4 or 5's on the first 2 lines. Is this isn't possible then we're okay with going to Iphone5's. The last line we would like to stay basic. Also, we would like to add unlimited text to line 1 (we have no texts included now). Is there anyway to do all of this with subsidized phones and keep unlimited data?
Thank you!

I would recommend doing the transfer to another line method rather than the Best Buy method described on this thread:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon/227608-instruction-how-keep-unlimited-data-verizon.html

UDP phone and dumb phone with upgrade
Line1 UDP
Line2 dumb phone (Upgrade available)

  1. Order smartphone using upgrade on Line2, select data plan
  2. Activate smartphone on Line1
  3. Pending data plan on Line2 will drop off in a week

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I'm ready to pull the trigger but I'm having problems with the account verification process on the BB site. It keeps bouncing back that it can't verify that I'm the account owner. Has anyone else had that problem and how did you get it solved to proceed to checkout?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price.

Ok, I am one of the early posters who confirmed back in January that this works --> http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon/351917-verizon-how-keep-unlimited-data-get-phone-subsidized-price-4.html#post3426554

However, my 2nd UDP line is eligible for upgrade finally and I'm having a problem. I make the purchase same as before from BB, but I get an email after about an hour saying a problem with my order exists and to contact BB about it. Something I am hesitant to do. I also cannot cancel the order as the cancel option is disabled. It even let me place another order saying I was still eligible, but I still got the same email saying to contact them. My Verizon account also still shows I'm eligible for a upgrade still. I guess I need to wait and let them cancel it for me??

Any suggestions on what to do to get a upgrade discount is appreciated? Will this work from buying somewhere else other then BB? What if I transfer my upgrade from my 2nd udp line to my 1st udp line (the one I upgraded in January) and buy phone but swap sim from 2nd line phone into new phone. Would that work?

Can anyone verify that if I were to transfer an upgrade from a secondary UDP line to the primary 6gb line in order to use this method that the secondary UDP line that I'm transferring the upgrade from would go unaffected? Verizon csrs say I will lose UDP even by just transferring the upgrade. But Verizon csrs are douches.

From what I understand the order has to be placed from the primary line. Are you trying to order with a secondary line??

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Or can anyone tell me if they have done this successfully via a secondary line.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

I have never been able to order it successfully off the 2nd line...nor had any success ordering it off the 2nd line after transferring the upgrade.

My friend has showed me how he successfully did it. He transferred his upgrade from his 2nd line to his primary on the BB site, then backed all the way out and restarted his order by qualifying his primary line again AFTER he transferred the upgrade.

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

I ordered a Samsung Galaxy S5 to replace my aging Galaxy Nexus from Best Buy yesterday. Best Buy still shows the order as "processing" with no further information. My VZW still shows eligible for upgrade and UDP intact. I'll update once I have the phone and whether I keep my UDP or not.

I tried to go through Amazon since their price was a bit cheaper on the S5, but I could not get rid of the 2gb data plan from their order process, even when I clicked "no changes".

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

Is it possible to do something like this if I only have 1 line on my account? Can I add a new line for $9.99 more a month and then keep the unlimited data? Does the iphone5 even have a SIM card?

I had the same issue with Amazon. They were $50 cheaper so I tried several times but no success.

Best Buy will show processing for several days. They are amazingly slow. I ordered on a Friday, and it was like Tuesday before it was shown as being shipped. Came Thursday night tho.

However, VZW did show my plan as being extended 2 yrs like almost immediately. I'm STILL watching my UDP to see if it changes. So far so good. Got a few messages about a plan change (yikes!), but it was in regards to Visual Voice Mail being added. Sacred me tho, lol... I've been live with the phone for 5 days.... Seems like it is all good.

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price

Just received my phone in the mail today (about 4pm Eastern). Removed stock sim card and replaced with Sim card from old phone (Droid Razr Maxx) powered the phone on and selected "English" for language. Stated that "The Sim card has already been activated" Pretty much the same as roberto767 in post #1062. Unlimited Data!! Thanks for the help! Samsung Upgrade.png

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

So were you able to activate successfully? What steps did you take to activate?
I want to keep my UDP plan so I ordered a sim card from Verizon since my old phone had no sim. Then ordered
Galaxy S5 from BB. Today I received the S5, installed the ordered sim card powered on the phone waited for
activation. The phone would not activate tried several times no activation. Could the sim card I ordered need to be
activated prior to using it to activate the S5?
Any suggestions?

Re: Best Buy Mobile lets me keep Unlimited Data Plan on Verizon?

To activate new sim did you have to call same # like Plim did? - Thanks

Thank you guys for all of the advice! I was able to upgrade my mainline phone to a new S5 and retain the UDP. I also was able to order a new sim card with NFC from Verizon and sucessfully activated on my new phone, special thanks to Plim for the detailed write-up.

The only problem I have yet to solve is my wife's line on the my family plan. So far, it sounds like any line with UDP on family line cannot get their order through with best buy because of some pre-activation error with the code not matching with Verizon. It seems that the only way to complete the order is to involve Verizon which will result in the removal of the UDP.

The only one I have seen that got through it Lionelhutz who got the Verizon rep to add back the unlimited data plan with promise of cancelling the order but ending up keeping the phone anyways :) . I am not sure if I want to go through that risk as I know from experience it can take weeks to get the UDP back. Maybe the only option is to do transfer that upgrade from an unused line to another. I don't know... does anyone who had the same problem as me have any thoughts?

Re: Verizon: How to keep Unlimited Data and get phone on subsidized price.

I am new on this and went thru a few of these threads. But, I could not find any answer on my question. So here is my question if any of you can help me out.
I purchased an almost new Galaxy S4 from eBay. It cam with the original SIM card. I am currently using a Droid Bionic. I trashed the screen last week, so now I would like to activate my new Galaxy S4 without changing my unlimited plan. I tried to go on line, entered the new phone ID, then it asked me for the SIM#, entered that. All was excepted, except after doing this, the online screen showed up and said that this device in not compatible with your current plan. Then it went to the next screens to pick my new plan. Obviously, the unlimited data was not a choice.

That is it in a nut shell, so my question is: How can I activate my new Galaxy S4 from my current Droid Bionic? The SIMs are different and from previous thread I glanced at, it does not help to cut the current SIM from my Droid Bionic.

I appreciate anyone's experience out there on this.

Thanks!

You should be able to pop you sim from bionic into S4 and it should activate automatically just like thus forum is discussing.
