I also have some advice to those that have several lines with UDP on 3g you can buy one 4g phone and activate that phone on all the lines at once just using a diffrent sim card....I have done so....
I am going to once again share my experience on keeping the unlimited data. here is what I did I preoreder the iphone 6 transfering the upgrade to a dumb phone line and charging it to the account and once I got the iphone 6 took the sim card out and activated on a tiered data line, I did have the pending order for a week and it fell off dont know if by itself or because I called naggin about it ....still got the unlimited data on the line I did the transfer and for some reason I still have an upgrade available on that line it never was extended....and for some reason this is the second time it happens, was a few months ago did a transfer upgrade and the contract date was never extended. for one thing its good for me. My billing cycle just started again on the 11th of october and my unlimited data line is still unlimited. Im also gonna comment on the REDDIT guy saying that verizon is going to track the meid on the network if Verizon is gonna do that the few that are on unlimited data would of already been bumped off and a few years ago when I bought a smartphone on a subsided price the rep said that once you buy and sign the 2 yr contract the phone is yours to do as you please ....haven said that until verizon announces any thing officially ....this loopholes will work benefiting both the customer and Verizon....cuz they will never say no to $$
the data plan was never implemented on the basic phone line ...and it still on the $9.99 and like I said the pending activation fell off after a week...
So I'm still not sure what method I need to use. Best Buy is still telling me it can't ship a Droid Mini for keep existing plan.
Line 1: UDP smartphone no upgrade
Line 2: UDP smartphone upgrade eligible (this is the phone I want to upgrade to a Droid Mini)
Line 3: dumbphone with upgrade eligible
You need to make an account AND register your credit card. Ultimately some phones are only available for pickup though.Tried again today to get a Droid Mini at Best Buy, it still says "can't ship, try another address or pick up in store".
So if I have two UDP, one eligible, one not, and one dumbphone that's eligible. The eligible UDP phone is the one that wants a Droid Mini now. If I can even get Best Buy to work, do I need to transfer the upgrade from the UDP phone that I actually want to upgrade to the other one and order on that? Or do I order on the dumbphone? Will either work? Is Best Buy just done now? I'm so tired of all this. This isn't even for me.
Could someone please help me out? My brain hurts from reading so much about trying to keep my unlimited data. It also doesn't help that some places say conflicting things about what works and what doesn't.
I have a Galaxy Nexus and just bought a Galaxy S5. I have unlimited data with an upgrade available on my account. The Nexus is the only phone I have on my account. The phone I bought is brand new and has never been activated. Now what do I have to do to keep my unlimited data since I already have the new phone ready to go and the unlimited data with upgrade available? Also going from the Nexus to S5 will I have to trim my existing SIM card?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me. I was just at the Verizon store a few weeks ago and the employee there told me I could simply buy a new phone from anywhere I please, come in and swap out the service on my current phone and be able to keep my existing unlimited data plan. From what I've been reading that no longer seems to be the case so that employee must not have known what she was talking about. Thanks again.
If you bought the phone out right from somebody else or even Verizon then yes you will keep unlimited no matter what. I think the GN SIM will fit so just put it in the new phone. If not yes you can go to Verizon and do it without losing anything.

I am getting my new moto x tomorrow, however I used my wife's line to upgrade since she is on a tiered plan. She is not getting home till late.
Should I just cut my Sim card to fit and use it?
Should I wait and activate it on her line first then cut my Sim?
Is there any way I can use the nano Sim that comes with it? Don't want to lose my unlimited...

What kind of phone does your wife currently have? If it uses a micro-SIM and since you're upgrading via your wife's tiered data plan you can activate it on her line first, then put her phone back on the line freeing the new phone and the new SIM. Then activate the SIM and new Moto X on your UDP line.
