Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon
Ideally, you want to activate the Nexus 6 on your sister's line before ordering the iPhone 6. If you can go a couple of days without the Nexus 6, just do the following:
1.) Activate the Nexus 6 on your sister's line.
2.) Order the iPhone 6 using the upgrade on the basic line and have it shipped to home. Order the phone from either Verizon or Best Buy.
3.) When the iPhone arrives, discard and destroy the SIM that comes with the phone.
4.) Take the SIM from the Nexus 6 and put it in the iPhone 6 since both phones use a nano-sized verison.
5.) Turn on the iPhone 6 and it will activate the phone to your sister's data plan
6.) Reactivate the Nexus 6 on your own line.
It's easier to go this way for a couple of reasons. The major reason is that the basic line will have a pending activation on its account for a month or so. You might need to get Verizon's help to activate the Nexus 6 on your sister's line. The last thing you want to do is contact them with a pending activation even if it is on a different line. All it takes is one rogue rep, and you now have data plan on the basic line.
On the other hand, in theory, your way would work fine. The only change would be that you activate the iPhone 6 first before moving the Nexus 6 back to your line.
I'm helping my sister do her upgrade and wanted to get help to make sure I'm doing this correctly:
Line 1: Basic Line no data (upgrade available)
Line 2 (sister's): UDP (no upgrade) iPhone 4
1. Order iPhone 6 upgrade through Basic Line 1 and have it mailed, remove SIM that comes with it and destroy it
2. I'm ordering a blank nano SIM for my Nexus 6, when it arrives I will activate my phone using the blank SIM on my sister's UDP line
3. Reactivate my Nexus 6 back with my UDP SIM
4. Take SIM that I activated under my sister's UDP and put it into new iPhone 6 and power on.
That should do it right?
The only concerns I have are these:
1. Will the basic phone line 1 that we order the upgrade through have a "pending activation" notification just sitting on the line?
2. Will the blank SIM that I ordered for my Nexus 6 to activate my sister's line on fit and work for an iPhone 6? I think they both use nano-SIM, but wasn't sure if I activated it on my Nexus 6 first, then put it in the iPhone 6 if there would be a problem.
3. Will using the method of activating a blank SIM on my phone with her line, then putting that SIM in the iPhone 6 work to activate on her line and keep her UDP?
If anyone has any answers to these or a better method please let me know, I'd really appreciate it.
