Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon
Even for the $299.99 64Gb model, with a $40 upgrade fee and $25.50 tax, the total cost for upgrading is $365.49. $480 - $365.49 = $114.51 less expensive over 2 years to get the phone. It was an easy decision.
I looked at it this way: I wanted to keep my UDP. If I didn't upgrade on a new two year contract, I was going to be hit with an additional $20/month = $480 over that same 2 year contract period. Here is the math:
2 Year contract
$1920 ($80 x 24 month) for 12 GB plan + $960 ($40 x 24) for line access fee + $250 phone purchase price = $3130 over 2 years
Payment plan
$1920 for 12 GB plan over 2 years + $576 ($20 x 24) for line access fee + $624 ($26 x 24) for phone = $3120 over 2 years
If you just wanted to look at monthly payments before taxes:
2 year - $120 a month ($80 + $40)
Payment Plan - $126 a month ($80 + $20 + $26)
Either way, Verizon is going to get its money. The only real different is how much do you initial pay. 2 year contract requires a higher initial starting point. The payment plan only requires taxes and should be significantly cheaper.
