[Instruction] How to get a new phone and keep (legacy) Unlimited Data on Verizon

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So i buy a new full price phone from vzw to put in my udp and my contract with 8 months remaining would be over?
Your line would remain under contract until the end of the term. Just that you can use the newly bought phone on it if bought at full retail

I thoroughly apologize, just saw that post and it has cleared everything up for me. Thanks.

No problem, it is easier to read that than for me to try and explain haha.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

I have a bit of a diff question. So my GF has my old iphone 5 on her account and she likes it... She is up for an upgrade, she has TDP and i have UDP and am month to month.

Can SHE get an upgrade on with a BB phone....and then i take that phone and put my SIM into it.. or will i get boned because the IMEI is coded as a subsidized phone?

Upgrade on the tdp line using tdp upgrade , activate it on tdp line first, then move it to the UDP line. You will be fine since the upgrade came from the tdp line

Sweet ! Thanks so much!

Do I need to do anything fancy with the SIM card before moving it over to my UDP line or just call up VZ and have it added as "user owned equipment"?

You can just do it online. If the sim sizes are different then it can cause an issue though.

It's funny. I called VZW (usually a mistake I admit) to see if I could use monthly payment to upgrade keeping current plan because as I understand it you get $100 off if you go monthly rather than full price. The phone rep offered to do it for me and assured me it wouldn't affect my udp nor my 10/16 contract expiration date (important to save $20 a month and get 100 extra minutes and 100 free texts).

So I went to a store in NH to do it to save the sales tax. The store tells me any change at all including monthly payments would take away udp. It's a $50 tax savings so I would have preferred to go that route but no dice. I don't know if the store was wrong or phone rep was wrong.

You can usually do payment plan a few months before your contract is up... But it is usually early edge... Requiring you to turn in your current phone or pay a $299 fee. I got caught on that once.

I am on contract AND have an update because I am on that special contract extension to avoid 20 dollar increase in udp. It did not affect my update status. I don't see why u would get charged extra on the payment plan u pay full price anyway.

Ah ok. You should be fine then.

The issue is only if you upgrade early, which you aren't doing

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

Bottom line is store wouldn't do it anyway.

What plan are you on?

Store was correct. The ability to upgrade using device payments AND keep your unlimited data appears only after you've started paying the $20.

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

OK I have a htc one m8 one line, I have unlimited that contract ends in June ,that's when I'm eligible for upgrade. I don't mind purchasing a new or used phone a.s.a.p full retail but how do I extend my contract without buying a subside phone which I'm not eligible for. If I wait until I'm eligible then won't they ad the S20 new fee. I'm trying to avoid paying the extra $20. Also what's minimum avg data that makes sense to keep this plan?

Aha. That explains why store rep kept asking if I had the $30 data plan or the $50 data plan. I would say I don't have to pay the extra 20 and he would repeat the question. Neither of us could understand what the other was talking about. OK so I will pay full price. Now I have to see whether i like the s7 edge better than the note 5. I lean toward the edge at this moment due to the bigger battery and smaller size. The Note 6 will be 6 inches and that is just too big for me

Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon

So i preordered the S7 edge.... on the plan with the 6 gb data . ... the BB rep said I can pick up the phone with it comes in ... they will put it on the TDP and then immediately switch it back to the old phone on there... but the catch is I will have to wait 1 MONTH to activate it on my UDP line to keep my UDP... does that sound right to you guys?
