Sounds fishy. Get it in writing...So i preordered the S7 edge.... on the plan with the 6 gb data . ... the BB rep said I can pick up the phone with it comes in ... they will put it on the TDP and then immediately switch it back to the old phone on there... but the catch is I will have to wait 1 MONTH to activate it on my UDP line to keep my UDP... does that sound right to you guys?![]()
An update from a long-time thread follower.
In the process of porting both my wife and mother's number to Google Voice. Going to port them back to Verizon, swapped, giving my wife unlimited data, my mother tiered data, (basically swapping their lines) and then I'm finally off my mother's account at 28 years old! (I'll assume account ownership). My mother only used 0.3GB this month with an UDP, by the way.
Coincidentally my wife and I both will then have the available upgrades on those lines. We'll use the BBM and give the phones (probably be LGG4s) to my mom and dad. They get 'new' phones, we get UDPs, and won't incur the $20 UDP price hike. This all sounds too good to be true.
Thought you guys might like the story. Thanks for all the hours of reading this thread has given!
Me: Nexus 6P
Wife: iPhone6s
anyone want a brand new s7 edge for 800 bucks from VZcomes in on the 11th!
or you do the same trick and we swap!
Upgrade on the tdp line using tdp upgrade , activate it on tdp line first, then move it to the UDP line. You will be fine since the upgrade came from the tdp line
It is a precaution. And you may get a pending activation or something if you don't activate it on tdp firstSo you're saying you have to activate it on the TDP or is that just an extra precaution??
I did the best by method two years ago and got the LG g2 for $1.00. My contract date is up April 29, 2016. I checked today and it has a upgrade date of February 14th 2016. If I upgrade before contract end date with the best buy method will it still work? Will I be able to keep my unlimited data and not pay the $20 increase?
I also came here looking to address that question. when I log into my verizon account it tell me that my contract isn't up until may. It also however tells me that I am eligible for an upgrade.
Additionally, when I go on to BestBuy Mobile's website and walk through the process of buying a new S7, it tell me that I am eligible for an upgrade. If I were to go forward with buying the phone through best buy, would my UDP be compromised?
I also went through best buy a couple of years ago to get a new s5 and preserve my UDP and it worked like a charm. Is that still working? When I went to BB's website, i walked through all the steps as if I was going to buy a new phone and it never prompted me to "change" or "update" my plan. Based on this I am assuming that it still works and my data plan would be preserved if I just switched out the SIM like I did last time.
I may wait to do this though until the S7 actually comes out in a couple of weeks. Thoughts?
Currently using my NEXUS 6P on my UDP until November 2017. Lets see if VZW tries to hike my UDP after my contract expires.
I expect the note 6 to be the same size as the note 5 and note 4 I think they are keeping it at 5.7 inches.Aha. That explains why store rep kept asking if I had the $30 data plan or the $50 data plan. I would say I don't have to pay the extra 20 and he would repeat the question. Neither of us could understand what the other was talking about. OK so I will pay full price. Now I have to see whether i like the s7 edge better than the note 5. I lean toward the edge at this moment due to the bigger battery and smaller size. The Note 6 will be 6 inches and that is just too big for me
I hope you're right. I read it will be 6.I expect the note 6 to be the same size as the note 5 and note 4 I think they are keeping it at 5.7 inches.
No need to wait. They will add $20 to your monthly bill when your contract expires. And once it is on, it stays, even if you get a new contract. This has been reported repeatedly over on Slickdeals.
