IPhone 5: Yay or Nay?

Although its a clear bet that iphone5 will out sell all of the flagship android devices out now. I pass on the iphone, to closed off and os so old and boring. Love my gnex running jelly bean 4.1.1. So so smooth and fast. Also love google now, so much better and accurate compared to iphones siri which is still very buggy and just garbage compared to google now. Also my gnex was doing feature wise months ago what iphone5 is just getting now. Plus no nfc when you can get it on a cheep crappy Rim produced curve, come on. Iphone 5 is still a solid year behind in functionality then what android can offer with the sgiii the gnex and any other android running jelly bean.

Does anyone know the total number of iphones that were sold so far in 2012? I tried to find numbers but couldn't find anything that was solid numbers. I would like to compare the iphone with all flagship android phones. Anything over a 4.3 inch screen.

That shows total iOS devices sold since launch. Which is what 7 devices I believe and its at 315 million. And that was at the end of 2011. It shows only 250 million android devices have been activated total. I'm sure by the end of 2012 that number will be up towards 450 million units. And I don't see how people complain about old technology from apple. It has one of the best looking screens. Probably will have one of the best processor and graphics of any phone this year good battery life. Why can't everyone look at both sides of the coin and realize that both OS's have their strengths and weaknesses. Just because the iPhone isn't for u doesn't mean its a piece of crap. And just because android isn't for some ppl doesn't mean their phones are crap either. I personally don't care who makes the phone or what its running I like to see the technology and features each phone incorporates no matter who makes what.

Apple.....master magicians, thieves with mask's, like a wolf, harvesting the fallen lamb...get used to it. They are good at what they do.

Someone once wrote an article stating that people's choice in technology is becoming similar to religion. It is a place where we can try to validate what we like and choose. It's like fashion. Some people love tattoos and other people hate them. Yet they could debate for days on the pros and cons for each side.

It's simple. Take apples quarterly iphone numbers, add them together, and you have your total. IIRC, they're at least over 80 million. The iphone outsells any single android phone by a very large margin.

I'm coming from Apple & my only regret is that I really think it is easier to use(iPhone). I admit I'm new to Android but I am really having trouble moving to Android. I need a Quick Dummy Guide so I can expedite my understanding of how to make the big switch easier.

Is there such a thing?

There is a dummies guide to Android... And lots of people like myself eager to help newbies learn the Android OS and all the tips and tricks.

As for my opinion of the iPhone... Too plain for my taste... Needs cinnamon and sugar... Baked at 350?

Okay thanks. But now if we only take the new premium android phones with say at least a dual core processor and a 4 in screen, how many have they sold. What I'm trying to get at is that is the only android phone was the Galaxy Nexus then what would the numbers be? Apple isn't just competing against one phone it is competing with 5 to 10 phones. The best selling phone doesn't really mean anything. It's more about what other phones are in competition with the power user consumer base.

I would like to know the sales of the Gnex, sgs2, sgs3, moto razr line, htc one X lines and top LG phones in 2012 and compare this to the iPhone in 2012. This is the real truth. We need to remove all the low end crap android phones from the mix to see the real numbers.

I think you are correct in the iPhone being easier. But things are always easier when you have fewer options. What are the specific areas you are having trouble with? There are lots of people who would help you to understand your phone and how you can customized it for your own needs. In fact it is very easy to make your Android phone look and act just like an iPhone (hello Samsung) but the best part is you will have new tools for sharing content and interacting with websites and connecting to search and navigation tools in a totally open and seamless way.

If you are not interested in learning about the Android experience (but I think you are) then a iphone with minimal control options could be a better phone for you.

I figured out how to work through the Android OS in 10-30 minutes tops. It's not much harder than iOS.

Wouldn't worry one bit. Took me a day to figure out the basics, like others have said it similiar to IOS. Great thing is that even after being on Android for 2+ years, every now and then I discover something new.

Especially when you have a site and forums like this!

You can't compare one or two phones to 5-10.

To me the only phone that u can compare to the iPhone is the nexus line. They are supported by the maker no bloat ware no skins just pure iOS vs pure android. And I'll bet the sales of each of the phone makers top android devices combined vs just the iPhone that the iPhone sells more. Or its close

I actually can. It's called math. Lol. No offense. I am just curious to know the numbers. We always see the total sales and that android is ahead now. I am curious about the phones in the same spectrum rather than all the extra garbage.

I think the SGS3 has sold more than the nexus hasn't it? Could be wrong.

I would bet so. I haven't heard much on how crappy selling or great selling the nexus has been.
