iPhone 6's are bending when sitting down?

Re: Note3 easily survives the bend test that the iPhone failed

Sad, but true. This happens every year, though. People go looking for flaws in the iPhone and attempt to make a big deal out of it. Every year it's something "gate". You can bet that Samsung will be making an ad about it when they should be worried about the state of their company.

I'd say bending the screen in your pocket and the screen cracking if you try to fix it is a big deal...

Please the bend test is nothing new. Every time someone or anyone point out the facts or truth about an Apple product all of a sudden it's bashing. Apple has issues just like every OEM so why should they get a pass on criticism?.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

Sorry guys, I just gotta post this. I laughed my &&& off when watching this:
iphone 6 bend test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znK652H6yQM#t=34
I just saw the bend test posted by Unbox Therapy. He was pushing really hard on the middle of the phone. I doubt that in a real life scenario the phone would bend like that. Now, with that said, he tried the same test with the Note 3 and it did not bend.

Apple definitely does not build the IPhone for durability. First it is the ultra delicate display. Now it is the weak aluminum. Beyond me why people keep supporting this company.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

Come on, do you think any of these modern smartphones with their huge screens, and thin form factor can't be snapped in half by anyone with decent arm strength?

(Also, aren't phones like the 6 Plus a little too big for people to be putting in their pants pocket? That's gotta be uncomfortable...)

Re: The bend test: iPhone 6+ vs Note 3 - one of them fails

Well...it is what it is.

Did anyone really doubt that the Note would win?

When's the last time you heard of a Samsung phone being bent? I personally haven't.

Apple, while very good at making nice looking products, doesn't exactly build them to withstand unnatural forces.

That said, the 6+ shouldn't be bending in this fashion while in peoples pockets.

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

lol, you keep saying "same thing" as if there are actually the same thing..... *sign* You saw S4, Xperia Z1 or EVO LTE bend in the front pocket?

All of these photos look like they forgot they had a massive 5 inch phone in their pocket and started sitting down and said, "oh ****" and stood up again. In a pair of dockers, the phone is sitting sufficiently low in your pants that the top part, near the volume rockers, are sitting at the edge of the TOP of the pant pockets. When you sit down, your pants edge provides a pivot while your leg pushes out. Since the phone is so low, it cannot push up and instead pushes outward. However seeing how the phone is now pushing against the top of your pockets, the top part is flush to your hip and the bottom of the phone pushes outward while the top is flush to your hip. Hence the bending. This is what I am saying. You took physics, right?

It doesn't matter if the phone is in the front or back pockets, it's the same thing in opposite direction. It's just not about the force but the torque. You have at least 100 pounds of force with at most 5inch of lever arm in both directions and pants material that is made to last. This is down to personal responsibility

Re: The bend test: iPhone 6+ vs Note 3 - one of them fails

I've never heard of the "bend test" before but people are complaining that their iPhone 6 Plus is getting bent while in their front pocket. It's made out of aluminum whereas the Note 3 is plastic.

So many iPhone users say that the build of the Samsung devices is cheap (being plastic) compared to metal iPhone. I guess it backfires on them now.

It will be interesting to see how the Note 4 fairs since it will have metal sides but a plastic body. Hope it passes.

Apple has the last say so on all the hardware...Android is the OS. So far you have shown some examples of some Android phone manufactures. That does not = all of Android. You can say ____ model from HTC, Sony. There were even reports of the Droid RAZR cracking, breaking. Its one reason I dont like thin phones anymore. Another is the bulkier phones felt better to hold in hand.

Same guy did it with a Note 3....no bending issues. Note 3 has bigger dimensions in a few areas and different build materials. I do agree any delicate phone might have the same bending issues. But all phones arent delicate. Apple is all about premium.....its their fault and their fanbase for all this happening now.

But now I know a few phones we'll see in Apple's "other phones do it too" video. ;) Btw...the iPhone 4 and 5 has bend pics out there too:

Reports of bent iPhone 6 aligns with horrible history of bent smartphones

But like with Antenna Gate...its not that the phone bends...its how easy it is to bend. I cant say how easy it is...all I now is the Note 3 survived his test. Would be interesting to see him test more phones. I mentioned a Droid RAZR, That would probably have a cracked screen more so than bent phone because the body was made of plastic and Kelvar. But notice how Motorola is absent in most posts, pics.

When you are put on a pedestal by so many, expect things like this to show up. Ppl gloat over record breaking sales for each new iPhone....cant have it both ways when issues arise.

An effect of the ridiculous
"Thinness Race " is very bendable phones that have smaller thinner batteries.

An effect of the ridiculous
"4 Ounce in Weight " lightweight
Phone Race is also smaller lighter batteries and much more
fragile devices.

They don't realize many of us are working out and can easily lift and bench press 8 ounces.

"We thought you wanted a slim, stylish Phone- you did not say to make it unbreakable during Normal Use."

Re: iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test

Don't see what's wrong here, they are just competing with Samsung and LG to make flexible phones.

You know that samsung is more than just phones right?

Apple kind of brings this on themselves by patting themselves on the back so much and mocking their competitors. I understand why they do it, but I also understand why people respond to it like this as well. If you are going to be that arrogant, you have to expect responses like this when your product fails to meet the expectations you have implied.

For years we have been hearing about Apple's supposed superior build quality...it is one of the bullet points their fans always list as a reason to buy Apple products. The same people mock Samsung for "cheap plastic phones". This comeuppance has been a long time coming.

You can bet that Samsung will be making an ad about it when they should be worried about the state of their company.
Their phones are living up to expectations and even surpassing them. Their phone really is waterproof. And it really is more durable...despite being made of "cheap plastic".

Re: Note3 easily survives the bend test that the iPhone failed

iPhone 6 Plus: Aluminium body: bends

Samsung Galaxy 4: Plastic body: bends and breaks

Only it didn't. The phone in the video was still working normally, and there was hardly even any physical damage.

No. When you have it in your back pocket, you sit on it. That is far more pressure on the phone than simply having it in your front pocket.
A lot of people are simply making fun of Apple for the sake of making fun of Apple. But there are also people defending Apple simply because it's Apple. I just don't believe that the engineers at Apple didn't do any testing to see how much force could be applied to the phones before they bent (they definitely test the Macbooks). Or maybe they did, and the design team simply didn't care as long as they were able to release such a thin device.

Re: Note3 easily survives the bend test that the iPhone failed

Amusing how the 'bend test' is all of a sudden a test that has to be done and performed once the bending issue of the iPhone's were posted.
The bending issue has never been an issue before. Phones are not supposed to bend while sitting in your front pocket.

No one heard of or bothered with this bend test for any other device prior
...because no one was reporting bent phones. This whole issue did not start because some Android Fan Boi was on the warpath to make an embarrassing video about Apple. This issue started when Apple Users themselves started complaining about it on Apple forums.

Note that the source is not an Android site. Note also that it predates the bending video I posted.

If you sit down with the phone in your back pocket you are asking for trouble. I know the iphone is fragile but you can break the screen of any phone by sitting on top of it.
